  • 2010, Coverage overload!

You read that right, 2010 is the year that we will see coverage exploding everywhere! Now that we have specific sites (SCG, SFB, Mana nation, GGS Live etc etc.), Twitter, and the mothership herself, I see this year being what we need to be up to date when covering the pro tours, Grand prix's and even the SCG funded 10k events! Right now, I am reading the coverage of PT: San Diego and if it isn't Mother ship with coverage its the endless tweets keeping up to date on specific players. I am purely excited for the fact that I went to get a cup of water and the tweets just explode! If you love the pro tour and can't compete for it, this is the way to go.

My suggestions: Get a twitter, read all the coverage and you will be ten steps ahead of the people at your store, aiming for what all of us dream, a chance on the tour. Its this information of today which help us explore new boundaries and get to the next level in playing and becoming a better player. I have, and let me tell you I do not regret this decision. Even though this was a short blog, it was most definitely needed.

    Thanks for reading!
The next blog from me will probably involve some spicy extended testing and get my chance to Q for the sandy beaches of San Juan!

This post is for the people that want to qualify with a deck that I have been testing online and in real life and have found more than exceptional results with it. I was going to rock this beast at the saturday ptq in Dallas, but a ride cancelled, and I would like to show the deck before the new expansions explodes everywhere.

here is the deck, since this is my blog I really don't want to use deck tags, i'll fix it later

  • Those articles are not reaching my interests, but ggslive does!

That's right you read it correctly, I have seemed to have lost interest in the articles the pros have posted on the popular websites(granted the drafts because you can skim through.) It seems like they just ramble on covering the same things time and time again promoting the same decklists as they did the week prior and giving more match-up results. I personally love reading full fledged tournament reports or even watching them on ggslive.com but when you get to read the articles that the pros post it is usually a bore because of the missed plays and just recapping some parts of the match whereas coverage you get to see what really went down and how it was accomplished to do so.

I believe we should do as ggslive does and actually get more live coverage, it is better than f5'ing throughout the day to read reports that you already know the results to, for example: When ggslive was covering GP:Tampa, I was watching the show and also reading the coverage on the mothership. The convenience of ggslive was far exceeding the 20 minutes late coverage report and the fact that you can discuss with other players on the plays is also something i really enjoy. The simplicity of live streaming really does help and it is not that costly, I mean c'mon just pay Rashad Miller and Ray to stream your ptq for like 200 dollars and they will do just that, because they bring the games to us, the players, without having to travel to get up to date news. They are really inexpensive and all they care about is donations to help make the show better. I support what they are doing and helping magic progress into the future(or past, I'm talking to you espn2) and pretty soon we can stream these vids on our iphones for up to the second watching.

But enough about my rant, how about a decklist?
This is a pre-list that I am testing out so far with the spoilers given in worldwake, namely my personal favorite planeswalker Jace, the mindsculptor.

Grixis control, boy do I love me some Cruel ultimatums, and without the help of cryptic command, the curve is... well less than spectacular, but Jace being a 4 drop? Sign me up!
    DeckMagic OnlineOCTGN2ApprenticeBuy These Cards
    Grixis Control v-1
    4 Crumbling necropolis
    3 Dragonskull Summit
    3 Drowned catacomb
    4 scalding tarn
    5 swamp
    4 island
    3 mountain

    4 Lightning bolt
    4 terminate
    4 courier's capsule
    3 essence scatter
    3 earthquake
    3 cruel ultimatum
    2 sphinx of jwar isle
    2 sorin markov
    1 chandra nalaar
    3 Jace, the mind sculptor
    2 negate
    2 flashfreeze
    1 Mind spring

    Sideboard:
    2 negate
    3 malakir bloodwitch
    4 vampire nighthawk
    2 flashfreeze
    2 countersquall
    1 pithing needle
    1 thought hemorrhage

Isn't it a beauty? This deck has gotten tremendously better against jund (warrant that they don't get anything from WWK too relevant.) and it has been proven better than the old jace in the matches where he was really subpar because he can protect himself! I mean, turn four you fateseal, then you unsummon that fatty baneslayer? seems awesome! He has been absolutely amazing for me and I am most definitely going to pick these up right away.

My sideboard is probably my favorite thing about this deck, 4 night hawk and 3 bloodwitch, this makes the mirror so much easier, it makes the aus-cheon irrelevant because their walls, do ab-so-lut-ley-nothing and it makes bushwacker a winnable matchup more than 50% post side.

Well, that's all from me today. I would love some feedback though to whether or not i should keep posting in my blogs.

    Thanks for reading!
    Happy holidays,
    Tom
