Ninja Turtles may be known for hiding in the New York City sewers but it turns out they may also be hiding in your Lorwyn Eclipsed prerelease kit.  Prerelease events started on Friday, the 16th but many players quickly realized that their foil promos were actually cards from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set that releases in March. This caused over 30 cards to be accidentally leaked ahead of schedule during the Lorwyn Eclipsed prerelease.

Shock lands are a popular and versatile dual land option in Magic: The Gathering. Starting with Edge of Eternities, shock lands are making their way back into standard. With Edge of Eternities, we saw 5 of the 10 shock lands come back into play.  The last time we saw all 10 shock lands in standard was when they were released in the Ravnica sets from 2018 and 2019.  With Lorwyn Eclipsed, we’ll see the other 5 shock lands not in Edge of Eternities come back into Standard. 

The first Magic set of 2026 is just over a week away and the contents have been revealed.  According to the debut video posted on Wizards’ YouTube channel last week, the art in Lorwyn Eclipsed is supposed to have a hand-drawn feel to it.  I wanted to take a few minutes to look at some of the amazing artists that have brought Lorwyn-Shadowmoor to life and their incredible art.

With every set, a document is created during the design process called the “Vision Design Handoff Document.” Mark Rosewater, the lead designer for Magic: The Gathering along with the set’s Vision Design Lead will release that document as the release date draws near.  Yesterday, Rosewater and Mark Gottlieb, the Vision Design Lead for Lorwyn Eclipsed released part 1 of the Vision Design Handoff Document.  That document is available at Daily MTG.  

With the upcoming release of Lorwyn Eclipsed, we’re getting two new precon Commander decks that celebrate the duality of Lorwyn and Shadowmoor.  Ashling, an elemental, will lead the Dance of the Elements deck while Auntie Ool, a boggart from Shadowmoor will lead the Blight Curse deck. As reported by Timothy Zaccagnino from Draftsim, the Blight Curse deck has an infinite combo that once it begins, instantly wins the game.

We’ve gotten the first major look at the first set of 2026, Lorwyn Eclipsed.  The idyllic Lorwyn and gloomy Shadowmoor are bringing back familiar faces and nostalgic gameplay while also introducing new characters and mechanics.  As announced by Matt Tabak at Daily MTG, there are a number of new and returning mechanics in Lorwyn Eclipsed. We’ll take a look at a few them today.

The hotly anticipated return to the beloved plane of Lorwyn-Shadowmoor is mere weeks away and preview season is finally upon us.  In today’s preview stream on YouTube and Twitch, Wizards of the Coast revealed a handful of cards — just enough to wet the palette.  Immediately following that, 145 new cards were added to the official card gallery. With that many cards to explore, we’ll take a look at some of the cards making a big splash in Magic’s newest set.

This morning on his popular personal blog, Blogatog, Mark Rosewater shared some new information about the upcoming Lorwyn Eclipsed set.  Lorwyn Eclipsed is set to release on January 23rd, 2026, and is the first of seven sets to be released during the year. 

By the time Lorwyn Eclipsed releases in January, it will have been 18 years since Magic: The Gathering visited the iconic plane.  Previously Lorwyn and Shadowmoor existed in a cyclical transformative state going between the perpetual daylight of Lorwyn and the dark and gloomy Shadowmoor.  

At the MagicCon Atlanta Preview Panel, players got their first look at 2026’s first set, Lorwyn Eclipsed.  Since then, Mike Turian and Jubilee Finnegan at Daily MTG have announced two new products being released for Magic: The Gathering. 

It’s no secret that as time goes on, prices go up.  Such is the case with Magic: The Gathering in its upcoming Multiverse sets. Announced first on Daily MTG by Mike Turian and Jubilee Finnegan, and as reported by Alex Atkin at MTG Rocks, Wizards of the Coast is increasing the price of two of their products in January 2026 when Lorwyn Eclipsed is released.
