A Look At Every Iteration Of The Ninja Turtles Coming To Magic — Donatello

We’re just days away now from the next Universes Beyond set, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, being released worldwide.  Donatello finishes our look at all four of the titular turtles coming to MTG. Donatello is the smart one, often seen tinkering with gadgets and other technology. He’s a blue creature in Magic appearing in all four rarities.

 

Common

Donatello was printed on one common. Donatello, Turtle Techie costs 3U to cast and is a 3/4. The card text reads, “When Donatello enters, if you control an artifact, draw a card.”

 

Uncommon

There is also one uncommon for Donatello. Donatello, Way with Machines costs 2U to cast. He’s a 1/2 with flying and has the text, “Whenever an artifact you control enters, put a +1/+1 counter on Donatello.

 

Rare

Donatello was printed as a rare on five cards.  Most of these are team-ups with other members of the team.  The cards included are:

 

  • Donatello, Gadget Master
    • 2U to cast
    • 3/2 with Sneak1U
    • has "Whenever Donatello deals combat damage to a player, create a token that’s a copy of target artifact you control."
  • Don & Leo, Problem Solvers
    • 3(W/U)(W/U) to cast
    • 4/6 with Vigilance
    • has "At the beginning of your end step, exile up to one target artifact you control and up to one target creature you control. Then return them to the battlefield under their owners’ control."
  • Donnie & April, Adorkable Duo
    • 4U to cast
    • Power and Toughness of 3/3
    • has "When Donnie & April enter, choose one or both. Each mode must target a different player."
      • Target player draws two cards.
      • Target player returns an artifact, instant, or sorcery card from their graveyard to their hand.
  • Don & Raph, Hard Science
    • 1(U/R)(U/R) to cast
    • 2/4 with Menace
    • has "Whenever Don & Raph attack, the next noncreature spell you cast this turn has affinity for artifacts. (It costs 1 less to cast for each artifact you control.)"
  • Mikey & Don, Party Planners

    • 3/3 with Ward2
    • has "You may look at the top card of your library any time."
    • has "You may play lands and cast Mutant, Ninja, or Turtle spells from the top of your library. If you cast a creature spell this way, that creature enters with an additional +1/+1 counter on it."

Mythic Rare

 

There are 3 Donatello mythic rares in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Each of them are showcasing a unique style and era of Dontello’s history throughout the Ninja Turtle franchise.  They include:

 

  • Donatello, the Brains
    • 2U to cast
    • Power and Toughness of 2/4
    • has "If one or more tokens would be created under your control, those tokens plus a Mutagen token are created instead."
    • Partner — Character Select allows Donatello to be a second commander in the Turtle Power! precon
  • Donatello, Rad Scientist
    • 5U to cast
    • 5/6 with vigilance
    • has "When Donatello enters, tap up to three target creatures your opponents control. Put a stun counter on each of them. (If a permanent with a stun counter would become untapped, remove one from it instead.)"
  • Donatello, Mutant Mechanic
    • 3U to cast
    • Power and Toughness of 3/5
    • has "Tap: Put three +1/+1 counters on target artifact you control. If it isn’t a creature, it becomes a 0/0 Robot creature in addition to its other types. Activate only as a sorcery."
    • has "Whenever an artifact you control is put into a graveyard from the battlefield, if it had counters on it, put those counters on up to one target artifact or creature you control."

 

Donatello and the other Ninja Turtles make their way into Universes Beyond when Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles releases on March 6th.
