Since 2015, the name Doug Bowser has been synonymous with Nintendo. The former president of Nintendo of America took the reins after Reggie Fils-Aimé left the position. Since then, Doug Bowser, who ironically shares his name with the king of the Koopas, has become a staple at Nintendo. Bowser left Nintendo at the end of 2025, marking the end of an era with Devon Pritchard taking the helm.
Now, just a few weeks removed from his departure, Bowser has a new gig - sitting on the board of directors at Hasbro.
Hasbro is often most associated with Monopoly and other classic board games, but that’s only a part of the IPs in their library. Hasbro also owns Wizards of the Coast, the maker of Dungeons & Dragons, Transformers, Baldur’s Gate, Peppa Pig, and Magic: The Gathering.
Bowser, along with Carla Vernon of The Honest Company, were both added to the Hasbro board of directors, with the chairman, Rich Stoddart, saying, “Doug and Carla bring extensive leadership experience across consumer brands and franchise management. Their expertise and guidance will be invaluable as Hasbro continues to execute its long-term innovation and growth strategy.”
Wizards of the Coast and Monopoly GO!, a mobile game based on the classic board game, are the two most profitable pieces of Hasbro’s portfolio. Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks noted that Bowser and Vernon are uniquely qualified to enhance this portfolio saying, “Doug and Carla bring deep expertise in building iconic brands, creating meaningful consumer experiences, and driving innovation and transformation across their respective industries. Their leadership will be invaluable as we continue to execute our Playing To Win strategy and deliver extraordinary play experiences to fans around the world.”
