There's a lot to talk about this episode but,

The one thing on my mind is that Oberyn might be the most colossally stupid man in the GOT universe at that point in time. He had everything he wanted, all he had to do was be more careful, and disable Gregor so that he could continue to egg him on. The way he died was especially gruesome, even by GOT standards.

I love the development Sanza is getting.

I think that the laughter is just Arya breaking a bit. Nothing good ever happens to her, it's like her life is one big, cruel joke. I'd say it's a mixture of shock and disbelief at how unfair her life is.

I really like Jorah and hope that he doesn't get shunted off screen for awhile. Of course it's GOT, so something tragic could also happen. Daenarys has gotten away with a lot of late.

I really wonder where the Ramsay storyline is going. Is he going to be the new Warden of the North at some point? He is getting a lot of screen time.

I loved the episode and it had a lot of stuff jam packed in. Can't wait for next week.

I'll preface this by saying that I might not be in the best mindset right now. Perhaps I'll look back and laugh on this in a week or so. On to the topic at hand.

I've been thinking a lot about my future prospects lately. I'm twenty one, attending community college, living out of my parents home with no job. Not a very inspiring citizen to say the least. I have a very vague plan of getting some sort of job that can support my hobbies and continuing those for the foreseeable future. I have no driving passion to do anything however. I have things I enjoy, but working in those industries doesn't particularly excite me more than prospects of working elsewhere. I've worked before and find I work well with a clear goal right in front of me. But beyond that I have very little preference, I feel very apathetic about my future job prospects. I just assume something will line up. I see plenty of friends around me who know what they want to do, even if they aren't working extremely efficiently towards said end, but I have no drive to do anything in particular. I'm content with who I am and what I do now, and I think that could be a problem. I'm not really sure where to go from there though.

I would like this thread to have a dual purpose, one identifying whether it's okay for me to not have a particular future in mind for myself, and the other is I would very much appreciate some articles on business fields for the future. I've not yet decided on a career path, something with a decent living salary for a single man that has low competitive aspects and job security would suit me well.

What are the parameters for the Clan Contests? I haven't paid much attention to them. And do we need to be an officer to play, or what?

The climb is real. From Gold V to Plat V in a month.

    Wow, nice. Smile

I'm currently Gold V, I'm not sure if I'm good enough to be a plat player just yet. I've only been playing since last year October, and still need to expand my champ pool and stuff.

I'm in promos for Gold IV though!

I don't think good enough for Plat is a thing. As far as I can tell, the major difference between plat and gold isn't mechanics or champion pool, it's game sense and realizing what your win conditions are. If you are allowed to take the reins and know what you're talking about, you can win games through very simple coordination and objective pressure. Mechanical skill is secondary to game sense at this level. I wish you luck in your adventures. You're definitely better than I was when I had been playing for 2/3 of a year. No one really knew how to play back then though. ^^

You can do it, as long as you keep learning nothing stops you from climbing. Everything is merely temporary, persistence definitely wins out.

I just saw at the San Francisco Metreon. The moments with Godzilla felt fantastic. The theatre literally shook when he roared. It was an incredibly satisfying and visceral experience. I watched it in 3D. and I believe IMAX as well. Friend took me out, was pretty cool.

The acting by non-Cranston actors was mediocre. Cranston was very believable in my opinion. The monsters looked fantastic. The fights were great, and I wasn't as confused as I was watching Pacific Rim. The lighting, and the effects clouds, dirt clouds, dust, etc. have on hiding parts of the monsters and the film giving them an appropriately menacing feel is very nice. I've watched some of the older Godzilla movies due to my friend being really into them, with highlights such as Final Wars and Godzilla vs. Space Godzilla(/sarcasm), and this obviously far outstrips them. The current technology and techniques put into the film really bring it to life imo. I would pay $10 for it as a movie, and $20 or more as a fan of giant monsters. 8.5/10, did what it strived to do and did it well, but obviously the acting wasn't inspiring. Landing Cranston for the role is a surprise and a triumph for the film, but one that is over too soon as for at least half of the film Aaron is the human focus.

I think you're underestimating zyra's plant damage - 23 + (lvl*6.5) + (ap*0.2) is tremendous especially when they're enraged. In a not very short 5v5, more than half of zyra's damage should be from plants, even when hitting 3+ people with Qs and Es. She really does a LOT of teamfight damage, man, far more than karma.

Obviously yes karma brings more than the 5 man boost but when she is played competitively it is almost solely for the 5 man boost, especially because as you just said Lulu does the rest of her kit better.

...also it's not that important but inner flame is actually harder to hit optimally than zyra q in a teamfight, because you can't place it in the middle of enemies and have to aim to hit someone (usually someone relatively near to you) with it.

This is assuming a very stable front in a 5v5. We are in a very mobility based meta and expecting your plants to get more than 1 or 2 autos doesn't happen as far as I've experienced or seen. My brother loves Zyra, and it's a decent, if hard to play pick. But the current meta makes it very difficult to get all her damage off, and beyond stationary teamfight damage most supports offer more.

Karma is also picked more than Lulu now due to her ability to land nidalee like poke and chunk someone out with one ability.

It may be easier to center Deadly Bloom on multiple targets, but in my experience you will hit more inner flames due to how kiting back with karma usually goes. You can also kite back with grasping roots, but karma can really string out baits at low hp, and has more onus on the karma to make plays, whereas with Zyra she has a lot of counterplay in her kit. I've got bias, I admit, but I think despite the damage ceiling of zyra, you can in general expect karma to put out more damage due to the mobility meta. I've had lots of very satisfying 5 man e's that nuke the enemy team, save someone who got jumped on, and power our teams initiation in on the weakened foes. Karma just gets to land her damage more consistently in this mobility/poke/pick meta.

Zyra does way more damage late than Karma, less very early though. I don't think they're that similar outside of lane, Karma is played mostly for the 5 man speed boost (which is more versatile than what Zyra brings to teamfights).

I agree that out of lane they do their job in different ways, but I would disagree that the speed boost is the only reason Karma is played. It's certainly an asset, but she also protects ADC's almost as well as Lulu does. That slow field is some hard disengage. Zyra basically creates a wall between the carry and the enemy team, Karma is more flexible and changes where the battlefield is. She kites about as well as Ashe, and Ashe completely shuts out some champs.

Also, Karma does about 8% more damage late game disregarding plants. I'm sure the plants make that up and a bit more in a dedicated team fight. But before then, her base damage is lackluster and you really need to catch someone with ulted plants to even attempt to catch up, and the longer the fight goes the more it drifts back into Karma's favor, due to her Inner Flame being easier to hit and doing more damage than Zyra's Q, Deadly Bloom, and due to her passive being much more relevant in a fight, particularly the longer it goes. I don't think the small amount of increased damage Zyra can do situationally is worth the pick.

Why did it take me this much time since to post here even after noticing the spiffy new title? That's what I'd like to know. At least you guys were active even without me.

I'm slowly, slooowly crawling out of the backlog hell that I've been in for about a year now. I've finished D-Frag, catching up to Nourin, dropped some hopeless shows for good, and now I only have 30 titles in my "Watching" list. It wouldn't have been that bad if I watched even two or three episodes a day. I also picked up J-Stars Victory VS, a great multiplayer action with lots of great franchises in it... and as a result, picked up even more shows, like Bobobobo Bobobo and Yu Yu Hakusho. Yeah, I wanted to check those out at some point anyways, but now is probably not the best time to be distracted by them.

That said, I've picked a couple of Spring shows, but there are still some that I'm interested in, but didn't check out yet. Anyone got anything to say about these?
    - Akuma no Riddle
    - Mahouka
    - Brynhildr
    - Mahou Shoujo Taisen
    - Black Bullet
    - Atelier Escha & Logy

NGNL and Mekaku City Actors are probably my favorites so far. I was pretty hyped for Chaika, but the first episode left a bad taste in my mouth with its hasty pacing. I'll probably still keep watching it, if only because of the delicious Namaniku ATK designs.

I was not impressed with the first episode of Brynhildr. Didn't try Riddle, looked kind of edgy to me. I actually picked up Black Bullet again, dropped Atelier, still watching Mahouka, MST, NGNL, and Mekaku. Chaika is pretty mediocre, but it's decent enough for me to be interested in where it goes. I love NGNL. I don't care if it's about glorifying NEETs, it is intensely enjoyable and the main characters are awesome and ridiculously cute respectively.

If you like Code Geass, then I'd recommend the three anime that it's an amalgam of: Death Note, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, and Gundam Seed. (I'll be a little more generous than saying "the three anime that it ripped off," but arguably all three of those are better than Code Geass. Certainly the first two.)

Eh, Death Note is probably better done/written, but after a while the whole chess thing gets a little hard to believe. And Light is just such a self righteous prick that I could never root for him in the way I could root for Lelouch (who I could at least empathize with even if he was doing bad stuff)

I disagree with the assertion that Death Note is better than Code Geass. It may have been if it had stopped or found a better ending at around 26 episodes, but my god the second part just dragged on and it lost a lot of its soul. I love the duo who made the manga, and Bakuman is one of my favorite manga, but Death Note had lots of problems. Gundam Seed is pretty good and comparable to Code Geass, but I believe the LOGH comparison is also unfair as pretty much every anime in this vein takes things from LOGH, it was a landmark anime that lots of people who make anime now watched and loved.

I also agree with Lelouch being more likable, particularly when you compare the ends of both series.

I don't know a lot about Ano Hana, I'm also supposed to watch it. But my brother watched it and loved it, and it's supposed to have a lot of feels. I hope it's not a poor man's Angel Beats, as for all Angel Beats accolades it was very rushed, and few characters got the development they deserved.

The reason Zyra isn't played isn't because of Morg. It's because of Karma. Regardless of both champs having snares that are a big part of their kit on Morg/Zyra, Karma/Zyra have much more similarity in roles IMO. They both function as early game poke champs, but Karma can soak a bit and bait very well, and hitting her poke once or twice chunks the enemy team hard enough that they can't fight you, even without contribution from your ADC. Karma also counters Zyra in lane pretty directly, as Zyra has all the problems Morg has against Karma, without the benefit of a shield to prevent some of the damage and get out of the slow zone before the second zap, or the kill pressure due to the much shorter snare duration. Zyra is also very hard in comparison to Morg, Annie, Leona, and Karma, and her kit offers a lot of counterplay. I also disagree with the assertion that Zyra currently does more damage than Karma. I've beaten Ahri's in burst with Karma regularly recently. I really think Karma is the reason you cannot play Zyra at the moment, Karma is just ridiculous on this patch.

Only watching 11(14 with holdovers). Beside a couple sequels, I think i have most of th good stuff covered. Notable things I'm not watching are: Irregular at Magic High School, Break Blade, and Nanana's Buried Treasure.

What are the 16 things you are watching?

I'm watching both Irregular & Nanana, only watching 15 now I believe; and in addition am watching:

    Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou
    Captain Earth
    Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu Ka
    Hitsugi no Chaika
    Kanojo ga Flag wo Oraretara
    Mahou Shoujo Taisen
    Mangaka-san to Assistant-san to
    Mekakucity Actors
    Nisekoi
    No Game No Life
    Isshuukan Friends.
    Seikoku no Dragonar
    Soul Eater Not!

    Dropped:

    Kamigami no Asobi
    Atelier Escha & Logy
    Black Bullet
    Gokukoku no Brynhildr
    Jojo
    Keroro

Dragonar & Flag watching for how hilariously bad they are. Black Bullet and Jojo dropped in the interest of time. Favorite anime as of yet this season is definitely No Game No Life.

Edit: @Feathas: IMO it goes Crab>>>Vamp>Bee=Phoenix>Cat=Snail>Snake=Monkey, although unlike most fans I don't dislike any of the girls.

I would say that the monogatari series is an exception not the rule: for the rule, see pretty much everything Soriel posted.

Honestly it was meant more of a joke than anything. I think harem certainly has its place.

I wasn't taking it very seriously, but I will argue the merits of Monogatari whenever given the option.

On another note. I'm watching 16 anime this season and thinking of picking up more. I might like anime too much.
