To clarify...
Salvation is staying up, but will be under new management.
However-
Much of the staff is still working to build a new home.
Yes? It wasn't super clear what Magic Find's (never heard of them) intentions are going forward.

I hope there isn't much gap between July 8th and the new site. -
Feb 4, 2014Arkmer posted a message on Launch Giveaway!Acidic Slime all the way!! He's super versatile and is always a sound play. Stops fatties, hoses Artifacts and Enchantments, can even get beats if you're ramping into him! There is rarely a time I do not want to Slime someone!Posted in: Announcements
I fell in love with this card during the SOM/INN Standard, I played the mono-Green Wolf Run Ramp deck; I used x4 Beast Within, x4 Acidic Slime, and x4 Green Sun's Zenith to occasionally play full on Land Destruction in addition to the wildly powerful monsters I would windmill-slam into play! Throwing +10/+0 and Trample on a Slime with the Wolf Run was often a scoop from my opponent as well. What a fun standard!
My only regret is never having a Mimic Vat.
Greatest deck achievement, no joke, Primordial Hydra and Fling; I used the Flings in the sideboard to get rid of the Mirran Crusaders that began to plague me, they also happened to be a potential 20 damage to the face in response to removal.
With Red/Green seeing play again, I am in high hopes for a reprint of the Slime. -

It's really good against control, but I moved into a heavier aggro meta. Now it is bad bad bad. I'll be putting this away for awhile... maybe forever since I want to off load my Titans. -
Jan 5, 2012Arkmer posted a message on Standard List (Jund Wolf Run)First change: -2 Slagstorm -1 Grave Titan, +2 Sever the Bloodline +1 Inferno Titan.Posted in: Arkmer Blog
Reason: Solar Flare has been really fun to play against because the threat to answer count has been so close it's palpable, ha, as much as I love playing those games I'd like to win them. Sever, I feel is more relevant than Surgical Extraction or Nihil Spellbomb because I'll get two shots at the removal and they can table their threat base (look and feel like they are winning). Sever can be forgotten in the yard, hopefully not by me, and be a surprise or even prevent them from being as aggressive as they could be.
In other matchups it's still solid removal if not better. Not a sweeper which makes me a little sad, but as is common in magic "different uses and weaknesses". -
Dec 29, 2011Arkmer posted a message on Standard List (Jund Wolf Run)Birds have been nice, but Control won't have killed me and I can afford the tempo loss against mid-range because I can trade all day. Aggro is where the birds would matter and the players in my area like to kill them; also, apart from Crusaders my mana drops are on 2, 4 and 6 so the ramp lays out in a way that birds are irrelevant.Posted in: Arkmer Blog
To be honest I just threw Titans in until I couldn't cut any more things so their numbers are flexible. I'll try a few with Inferno, he does have the whole "I kill Mirran Crusader" thing going on. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
I do think it would just create a new point in the system for people to complain about though. It would probably cut back on complaints in total though since we wouldn't be seeing this 42k number thrown around, the relisting, and other purchase related complaints. Likely we'd only be seeing "I didn't get into the queue despite being told I was in the queue", but that's probably not as bad? I don't know.
Any time there's a limited supply like this I'm surprised when people think that everyone is supposed to be satisfied.
As far as not being able to cancel orders, they only have 12000 boxes. Should they just keep all the money even though they cannot fill the orders? Of course not, so they should refund the people and notify them. They aren't getting more product, it was very clearly stated that "once it's gone, it's gone".
The 32k you saw (the 42k I saw) are very likely the number of orders that came in in total and not the actual amount sold. I would trust the official announcement from WotC more than some ticker on eBay.
It honestly just depends on what point in the sale the ticker ticks up. On clicking "buy it now"? Clicking the payment button? When they actually receive the payment? When they finally ship the box to the consumer? Which one makes the most sense? They can cancel even paid orders right up until they ship you the product, so are they even sold until then? You can make a reasonable assumption, but it is also reasonable to assume that clicking "buy it now" will result is a sale. Where do you think it was actually taking count? My guess is that it was taking count on the "buy it now" button, which is probably pretty accurate in 99% of situations, but this was not part of that 99%.
Sooo... post Mythic Edition run. I have one question.
I got my brother to lend me his account for this so I should be okay trying to get 2 and 2.
On my account I have 1 paid, and 1 pending.
On his account I can see 2 paid for in his PayPal but nothing in his eBay for purchases.
Do I have 1, 2, 3, or 4 mythic editions?
This was pretty wild...
I guess we'll see where it goes, but I won't be surprised when WotC does anything from an emergency ban to say it's "on their radar" for a year straight.
I've been running Whir Prison over every time I see it with Echoing Truth in junction with Unmoored Ego. It completely rips out their lock pieces with no recourse. Since they don't really do much to put a clock on us in the early game I've been able to set this up pretty easily and remove the one or two things that are stopping me from winning.
Has anyone else been using this to fight anything else? Is this something other people are doing? Is anyone else looking for a new angle to try?
Following that, is there a play pattern that's aided you against any deck in particular that you don't see often?
This is what I've been running, I know it's a bit different.
I love the way the x4 Hieroglyphic Illumination likely plays with Kefnet as well. I assume the copy of Murderous Cut can abuse Delve, right? These are just really good looking includes.
Supreme Will seems like an odd choice, but I suppose you're abusing the modal to get deck sift? Dimir Charm seems odd as well. No Damnation? I think I enjoy the silly interaction of getting to Damnation for BB just to replay the god a few turns later like nothing happened... And still keep your Damnation.
If you're going to put in 2 Jace and 3 Kefnet, why not a single Nexus of Fate or Time Warp? Get infinite turns for 3UU or 1UU respectively. Seems like a fair finisher for establishing such a board state.
How does the miracle discount interact with Thalia? If I flip a Kommand with a Thalia in play, does it cost 1RB or RB? EDIT: I found the answer. It would cost RB; Thalia's rulings says it all.
I think Hymn is way strong. Brainstorm and Ponder would almost 100% require another cantrip to be banned; I just think we're already at a critical mass of them (if not too many) and adding the more powerful ones is not something WotC should want to be doing unless it cuts out a bunch of the others. It just plays too much into Xerox decks.
With some of the cards in WAR, I think they're going to be fairly bold with Horizons. Veto is blatantly in white, so is new Teferi. I think their printing will position white as the anti-control control to keep non-white control in check so they can print something like Baleful Strix in Horizons. Just a theory and a hope.
Frustrating, to say the least.
I'm only curious how you get past the "2 per person" limit.
I certainly like the symmetry it can break if you find yourself in that situation.
