The only card I see myself needing a play set of right now is garruk, the rest are all common and uncommon. And with bills and friends birthdays and what not I'll be lucky to have erm by the end of next month. The new vamps kinda suck and I'm not a big fan of new jace, new chandra doesn't have a home yet that I can see so I'll pick her up as needed or available and I've had lavamancers since I played boros in extended like 5 years ago (I kinda horde cards I've used, I still have destructive flow from when I played flow rock and all the decrees I collected.)
We're doing a sealed deck tomorrow and I'll be drafting saturday and then I'm kinda done cracking packs for M12. I can pick up the commons and uncommons cheap and only a few chase rares for me this set. Though I am excited to see what Inn block does with this core set.
The shop I play at now missed out on the prerelease sign up by a week or two and the video store we where playing at and was signed up is closed now so no release for me this weekend. On the bright side I got to try out that MBC deck from the Chinese nationals and it actually is a lot of fun. I woudn't play it where I play though.
So my local shop is trying to build a bigger player pool and doing some pretty cool tournaments to get people in, they decided next month they are going to hold a 1k tournament and as one of the regulars I plan on being there but I'm having some problems. Tempered steel and elves are not my best matches and they see a lot of play here, I'm playing B/r vamps and while I think I solved my elf problem post sideboard with demon of death's gate tempered is still a problem. I'm running 4 shatter sideboard but they still aren't enough and I don't wanna go back to relying on manic vandal main, any sudgestions?
@brengera i too agree that persecutor is better. it dies to less removal, swings for more, and is easier to cast if you splash another color. i think the deal with the obliterator is that now that jace is gone the hype is back.
Think its mostly people thinking that with jace gone creatures have a better chance of sticking around now and forget that go for the throat is still being played heavily.
and i'm a little curious about something: i can play non-black decks and not get kicked out of the clan or anything right? i mean, i really doubt it would be that harsh, but this forum sounds so dedicated to the one color.. lol

In any case, I finally got a chance to draft PBS last night and my first 3 cards where phyrexian mana and the 3 after that where artifact, I had to show the guys who talked me in to playing so they could understand why after 6 picks I was frustrated I didn't have any colors picked yet. Not a fan of drafting backwards.
Any one noticing anything really bonkers at FNM now that jace and SFM are gone? I got knocked out of top 8 by UWG allies friday playing B/r vamps and seriously didn't see it coming.
So my shop has Tuesday tournaments and they scheduled a 2hg tournament this week as well so I still got 2 more tournaments to stare SFM and jace TMS down. Luckily only a few people are still playing them.
Well any one excited about M12 yet? I am kinda underwhelmed, bloodthirst is an alright mechanic but I liked it better when it was mainly in gruul colors and while I'm excited about Distress coming back I don't know how I feel about the rest of the set. But we still have 10 cards left to spoil so maybe I'll still be floored by something.
Am I the only one that thinks Jace 3.0 is fraking awesome?
I've had to argue with 3 people so far as to why he sucks right now but has potential once inn block comes. 5 mana for a version that isn't better than his 1.0 version isn't that great but he could be alot worse.
I'm more affraid of what the new garruk and chandra will look like now.
Jace tms and stone forge got banned in type 2. So caw is dead and the format is a little more open now though I suspect vengevine and valukut will rise back to power.
Since at the shop I play at they sold 2 SFM for 15$ each when you bought the event deck with them and a lot of people bought erm I can imagine more than a few people are upset about the banning. I on the other hand have been playing and enjoying B/r vamps for a couple months now and am over joyed that I don't have to see turn after turn brainstorming and the always fun turn 3 batter skull when I don't have a manic vandal in hand. Jace I don't think needed a banning but the mystic more than deserved the ban hammer. Only question I have now is will caw still be viable with its favorite draw engine and tutor banned?
Only had time for disc one of bacanno, which I can't finish til thusday night so kinda bummed but magic tournament tuesday and plenty to keep me occupied so I'm not thinking to hard about it.

Ehh, I think I'd just rather wait for the rotation. This isn't the 1st time I've just waited for the rotation and I doubt it will be my last, Though I am still on the hunt for shock lands :-p
Since I got back in to magic I have played mono black infect, goblins, red deck wins, a poorly built mono black vamp deck. B/r vamps, a modded build of red deck wins deck, and the B/r vamp build I'm playing now. The shop is u/b control, dark blade, elves, valakut, and the random stuff people who just play for fun. It's getting a little hard to bring diversity down there but I'm not shelling out cash for wastelands or other random stuff I need for legacy and our casual scene is basically 4 guys who play alot of EDH and build random decks that usually have a quirk they like and build around.
I picked a great time to get back in the game. Also I still have my shock lands, only missing breeding pool. Honestly I probably will just use them instead of getting original duals if I ever build anything besides dredge, cheaper and I own erm already.
I was just looking for the best black critters, just turns out their all vamps. Lilly was an experiment, my highest critter was 4 cc, would a 5 cc really hurt? The answer after some games was I don''t know, I never drew her.
I got the lands for vamps so it's 4 reach, 4 cliffs, and 4 summit and that's my red sources. Just getting tired of the same deck over and over and I'm not building caw or dark blade or the splinter twin deck that is running around now so it seems if I wanna play black and turn guys side ways I just gotta stick with vamps.
And yes, type 2 is getting rather boring, kinda hope they make modern magic a real format.
Every time I come to salvation and check the clan thread it's either EDH talk or legacy, starting to feel left out. Maybe I should just play more formats, but then I'd have to stop eating to afford the cards. Why did I get in the habbit of eating every day?
Alright I got my obliterators sat down and thought about mono black aggro and came up with this:
Sat down and played a few matches and found out that I need to cut the tec edges and quick sand since I draw them far to often and the deck needs far to much black to let me get away with colorless lands. Creature base needs work, I don't know how I feel about lilly and the discard spells, ect. Whole thing left me wondering if I should keep trying for MBA or just keep playing B/r vamps. Any sudgestions or feed back guys?

I leave the spoiler for a few days and it goes nuts. Think black will be just fine in October and the few months til then.
