I'm sure there will be others like me who will open this product up and play with the cards, not just leave it sealed on a shelf somewhere for years. Some will do this sure, but it's wrong to paint the picture that everyone buying this is out to screw the casual people over (I'm a casual player myself).
I would support more gold-bordered products as well, such as another CE of Alpha or a gold bordered cube set. I think they should still have FTV sets though and not replace them.
Same here. I get this and open them to play with the cards in competitive events as well as casual fun (EDH, Planechase, ect.). Really hoping to get one of these like I have the last three years as MSRP.
My local card shop was giving away a box of Modern Masters at the midnight prerelease. The winner make a Selesnya deck and just rolled over people. Final game of the night was around 6 in the morning and she offered to split the box just so they could go home. He declined and she rolled over him and left with the whole box.
Awesome! Good for her. I have had similar happen with me before where I made the offer and it was refused, just to stomp them. Always a great feeling.
Anyway, Saturday prerelease, I opened a foil Mutavault and the mythic black demon. Made an okay UB deck that I was able to go 3-0-1 with and won 7 packs. Opened a foil Chandra!
FYI to all the closed beta testers... Untinstall the closed beta app and reinstall the open beta... The closed beta install will try to connect to the closed beta server, whereas the open beta will connect to the regular game server.
Okay, probably have to do that. Got in the beta last December ... that said, I am not really looking forward to this version. Don't really care for the look/feel
I have to have enough incentive cards to take a Primadox, as much as I love him. If I don't have anything yet that works with him, I won't take him over most other cards.
That said, I had the Primadox/Thragtusk combo this past Saturday. Worked very well
Value. Online, I have been steadily rotating drafts between ISD/DKA, AVR, and M13 ... I plan to keep doing it until R2R comes out, then it will be exclusively R2R.
I really didn't get to play much AVR online, so I am trying to round out the set ... no Bonfires yet for me
I think getting back into making books about current magic sets is a good idea. I was a little disappointed when they didn't do one for Innistrad, since that seemed like such a great setting for some stories.
Actually, since I never read them at the time, I plan on getting the original Ravnica block ebooks shortly when I finish reading my currently novel. Having never played or been around when original Ravnica was played, I am hoping it will give me some more insight to the world.
My LGS usually hasn't been doing these sets, like the FTV:Realms, because of money issues. I am going to try to talk them into getting their two alotment, though, even if I have to pay the LGS ahead of time to use towards reserving.
Did anyone buy this and open the cards? My friend texted me saying the cards felt flimsy. After FNM I went home and checked mine. They definitely feel flimsy, though they don't appear to be more fragile than regular cards. Anyone else notice this?
Not really flimsy, but super warping going on. And I was hoping for that not to be present, since recent foils I have gotten (M13, AVR, ISD) have been crisp and no warping.
If you're playing in an important enough event where it matters enough, you're going to be paying attention.
This. Any REL tournament, you should be diligent of every aspect from shuffling to the cards to life tracking to reporting. Make sure you absolutely know what cards are on the field/being played and this shouldn't be a problem at all. When in doubt, call a judge.

Sunday was Silver Stomp City! It wasn't uncommon that I went Striking Sliver > Predator Sliver > another Predator or Manaweft Sliver > Megantic Sliver > Groundshaker Sliver. Couple those with 2 Shocks, 2 Chandras Outrage, and 2 Lava Axe ... and games were over pretty fast. 4-0 this time.

Will try again tonight.

But seriously, these better be in R2R, seriously.
