Luminarch Ascension was something I have been considering a lot. Cut suggestions?
Tamiyo is awesome. Unfortunately, everybody knows that and it feels like she just gets killed. However, I have never played her in a deck like this so I would consider trying her out with my new hiding behind enchantments thing.
Since you are building a "pillow fort" then one of your main goals should be to Ultimate Tamiyo, the Moon Sage and go infinite with Omniscience.
Since you are hiding behind a "don't attack me" wall... Azor's Elocutors sounds interesting in this deck, but may be a bit hard to pull off in Multi-Player.
Hi all... Can you help me finish building this EDH Commander deck?
I have a good chunk of U/W cards in my binder so decided to dump them all into a blue/white EDH deck. I would like to use most of the cards listed below, since I already have them, but will definitely buy/trade for missing pieces if highly recommended.
I usually play multi-player, but occasionally dab in 1v1 so I would like this deck to be somewhat flexible for both formats.
My first thought was to set this deck up to keep me from being attacked and stall long enough to set up a combo such as Tamiyo, the Moon Sage and Omniscience.
Hi all... I currently have a RWG Uril, the Miststalker simply because I have always enjoyed playing a G/W based aura deck (dating way back into magic history). This deck has very little RED, and is mostly G/W.
My Question. What is the best Aura Deck build using 1 of the 4 following Commanders? I am building for 1v1 but would also use this deck for casual multiplayer.
I have always liked Uril, but with Avacyn and some of the recent G/W toys from Planechase 2012 release, I think cutting RED and using Sigarda is the best bet.
Bruna is an aura beast, but I would lose all of my favorite GREEN Enchantments.
Rafiq would allow for an amazing combination of Hexproof, Unblockable, and Auras.
Hi again all. Great thread. Thanks for all of the feedback.

Um, you might want to read your commander....
Yes, definitely know they cannot steal Uril, but I was planning on having other creatures such as Kor Spiritdancer, Aura Gnarlid and just about any other creature loaded up with enchantments.
I really have to second the motion for Vexing Shusher. If you make this stick against control you basically get to read a prepared speech to them while they sit there listening. Also if you're looking to get really goofy, Quagnoth is hilarious.
TEMPO: Putting Vexing Slusher in there - due to the second motion... Let's see what he can do!
You can also use sac outlets (Greater Good, for example) to prevent your guys from being stolen with anything without Split Second.
Great feedback! The correct answer was Brooding Saurian. I couldn't remember the name of it so thanx for the help!

Looking for R/G/W cards that are good against gain control / steal creature blue EDH decks. I know Homeward Path is excellent for this, but I know there is more.
I have been racking my brain trying to remember the name of a GREEN card that allows you to regain control of your creature(s) and cannot find it anywhere. I seen it in the forum about a month or so ago, but cannot seem to find it now.
Hello all. My 9 year old nephew would really like to begin playing Magic and who am I to deny passing down the game at such a young age?
Anyway. My idea is to create 5 beginner decks using Allied Colors: R/G, R/B, B/U, U/W, W/G to begin teaching him with.
Each deck will be broken down as follows: 20 Basic Land, 4 Non Basic Land, 20 Creatures, and 16 Spells. I would also like to include Artifacts, Artifact Creatures, Multi-Colored Cards, and maybe even a cheap Planeswalker into each deck. I would like to include at least 3 Rare Cards, some Uncommons, and Commons.
I would like to include cards that made an impression on me when I first started to learn the game. That being said, my question for all of you is:
What Card, or Cards, made an impression on you when you first started playing magic. A card that when you see it now-a-days, you look at it and say: "I remember when I first got this card I thought it was so awesome"? This is probably a card that you would only play in casual if at all in today's world, but still look back on it with fond memories.
In addition, if you have any ideas of cards you think are really instrumental in teaching young kids or newbies how to play Magic the Gathering, please list your ideas.
Thank you in advance for your thawts & contributions!
Thank you everyone for their feedback --- greatly appreciated!
Yes, Dark Confidant is way out of my price range.
Mainboard
-1 Surgical Extraction + 1 Hymn
-2 Child of Night, +2 Bloodghast
This leaves my creature count at 16, which I like, but should I ditch the Vampire theme and -2 Bloodghast, -2 Bloodline Keeper to run +4 Hypnotic Specter instead? I am already at 10 discard spells (4 Hymn, 3 Inquisition, 3 Duress)
In a matchup vs reanimator I was able to survive Iona, Shield of Emeria due to a dark rit, second turn Bloodline Keeper that popped out 2/2 vampires every turn
Reasons for Extirpate mainboard: With Split Second Speed versus Reanimator it saved me vs Iona (again) and vs Burn it revoked the graveyard Lightning Bolt, one in hand and 2 in library.
I also playtested against Burn and faired okay, but found a new issue: Ensnaring Bridge. Therefore, I was thinking Nevinyrral's Disk and Ratchet Bomb for Artifact/Enchantment removal? This also made me realize that I don't really have a direct way of damage other than creatures - so what would one think about an old direct damage spell such as Drain Life in the sideboard?
I would recommend contacting a buddy and borrowing a deck. I know at least 3 or 4 of my friends have at least 2 legacy decks built and would not mind if I borrowed one. Then, head down to your local shop every once in a while and play in a FNM legacy tournament.
You will have no money invested and will be able to see what everyone else is playing.
From a collector's POV, you can never go wrong investing in Dual Lands and Force of Wills... their value should always be high enough to sell or get good trade value.
I haven't played in a lot of constructed tournaments where a sideboard is required. Also, haven't played enough legacy against top 8 decks to know what I would need in my sideboard.
Any and all help/ideas would be appreciated for the sideboard (or maindeck as long as I get to keep the discard/Vampire theme )
This decklist is slightly similar to Craig Wostratzky's Mono Black Control deck that produced a Top 8 finish at a Legacy Star City Games Open in 2010.
I have replaced a few of the creatures, and with the exception of the Obliterators, have gone with a Vampire theme. My only playtest was against Reanimator in which this deck faired quite well.
Similar legacy decks run Dark Confidant... which is way out of my price range to run 4 ofs.
I would have suggested that you cut Detention Sphere, Dissipation Field, and/or and Leyline of Sanctity for Luminarch Ascension and Martial Law, but I see you already have cut 2 of them.
Personally, I would think about cutting Iona, Shield of Emeria for Blinding Angel or Frost Titan. In my experience if you do not have a fast way to get her into play (ie: Reanimate Spells or Quicksilver Amulet) then someone usually uses Bribery to use her against you.

I would also need advise on a general... So far I have thought about Gwafa Hazid, Profiteer or Grand Arbiter Augustin IV, but not sure which one best suits the list below.
Thank you in advance for all of you that take the time to comment and help me finish this U/W EDH deck with my binder left-overs!

RWG: Uril, the Miststalker

UW: Bruna, Light of Alabaster
GUW: Rafiq of the Many

Thanx again to all!

Cards that I plan on adding to my Uril EDH from your suggestions:
Asceticism
Aven Mindcensor
Brand
Brooding Saurian
Homeward Path
Privileged Position
Sterling Grove
On the fence, but considering these ideas...
