I play Glory in my Eight-and-a-Half-Tails EDH deck. It's on theme with my other cards and opponents tend to forget about it sitting in the graveyard. It's awesome to activate Glory in response to Blasphemous Act.

Niche... but one of my favorites!

You're gonna love Patron of the Orochi... even more if you have Greaves on the battlefield.

Let us know how the other two new inclusions do. I have considered them myself. Also interested in The Great Aurora. Hope it's awesome!

Yeah, I think I may make the switch to Splendid Reclamation and find a spot for Benefator's Draught.

I played one game with Jolrael last night... definitely need more spot removal. Jolrael got stymied by a Prison Term.

I tell you what though, theat Tireless Tracker was a beast. I drew 9 cards off of clue tokens. And, definitely see what you mean versus the Seer's Sundial. Even though I am currently running both, it was really nice to sit on the Clue tokens and hold up mana for my Beast Within.

    Thanx for the chat!

Absolutely love the fact that I found this thread. I have been playing Jolrael for a couple of months now and started writing an article about her on my website, MTGCasualPlay.com. I want to get a few more games with her before publishing though.

She was a nostalgia pick for me, I remember winning a booster draft with her back when we drafted Prophecy in the Mercadian Masques block. Really excited to see someone else trying her out so I can get some more ideas. Smile

Anyways, I'm gonna quick fire you a couple of questions and then introduce a few things I run.

I'm really interested to see how Splendid Reclamation works for you in place of Crucible of Worlds. I was thinking about doing the same thing.
Also, how Benefactor's Draught working for you, I like that one too...
And, are you missing Constant Mists?

Here's a few cards I run, that you do not...

Patron of the Orochi: Dude is expensive to cast, but he's a house.
Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger: Along the lines of Hall of Gemstone to slow down opponents and help us
Life from the Loam: This card is an all-star. Helps find lands and get lands back from hand to grave. Especially if we discard them.
Frontier Siege: Two Green mana to go towards Jolrael's activation cost is two more forests that get to attack
Seer's Sundial: Similar to Tireless Tracker. Draws cards.
Myriad Landscape: Another great fetch land for an additional forests
Oblivion Sower: Added this one for fun. Smack players down with their own lands.
Nacatl War-Pride: All opposing creatures would have to block the War-Pride and it's tokens... that means, all of your 3/3 lands get through unblocked. AND... would be nuts with Benefactor's Draught.
Pathbreaker Ibex: One of the few decks where I prefer this guy over Craterhoof.
Lightning Greaves: Gets lands moving right away. Protects Jolrael. Works great to untap Patron of the Orochi. Fantastic with Imex and the War-Pride

Again, just great to see someone else playing Jolrael! Thanx for the conversation!

    Vhati il-Dal says hi!

I have been thinking about a Vhati deck for a while and this tree might put it over the edge.

Independent of any combos this is just an awesome card.

I will definitely be plugging this into my Vhati deck. While I don't want to come out of the gate swinging with a massive life drain like this, I do like the option to tutor it up in the later rounds to bring a game closer to it's end. Use Tree + Vhati and then finish off with my [[Staff of Nin]] for the win.

My son's Meren deck was having a similar identity crisis. Able to control the board with Grave Pact like effects, but lacked mustard for a quick finish. He included Craterhoof Behemoth with token producers like Avenger, Hornet Queen, and Grave Titan. He also put in the Mike + Trike combo... where he can Birthing Pod or Tooth and Nail for the combo win. He has Grey Merchant too, but hasn't won with it yet.

I try to run Phyrexian Arena and Read the Bones in about every Black (non-blue) deck I have. Love these two cards.

But, as someone already mentioned RIP could draw a lot of hate.

I've found that aside from an odd game where you've going against a Karador, Meren and Mimeoplasm deck or whatever, the hate you generate is often offset by other people being thrilled you've dealt with the problem. I've had a third party counterspell attempts to remove RiP before because it was keeping a Marchesa deck in check for example.

Besides, I think an argument can be made that by the time you've reached the point where RiP is doing work you should already be the primary target anyway, and if you're not you should reevalute why you've gone that long without doing anything worth causing people worry Smile

Went ahead and put Rest in Peace in my Daxos Enchantments deck and had some glorious games. It single handedly demolished Meren and I locked it up with Greater Auramancy to ensure it stuck around. Found myself using my tutors to get it into play asap.

Glad I stumbled across this thread. Daxos is pleased. Smile

Got a Lazav, Dimir Mastermind deck with Havengul Lich, Praetor's Grasp and all possible Clones. This change made my day, because I was always complaining about Lazav changing into some green or red creature or something with R/G/W ability that I couldn't use. Now, my clone-theft deck will have some use again. I am actually quite happy.

Havengul Lich was used mainly to reanimate creatures in my GY, sometimes in opponents when someone played B or U deck. Funny enough, I already have Vivid Marsh and Vivid Creek in the deck. Just added City of Brass, Mana Confluence plus I changed some artifacts for Darksteel Ingot and Chromatic Lantern. Tomorrow I will test it and I will see how it works.

My Wrexial deck is set up almost the exact same way. Grasp/Lich/Clones. My favorite Lich story is using Havengul Lich with Keiga, the Tide Star in play. Reanimate Phantasmal Image from my graveyard using Lich, copying Keiga. Let the Phantasmal Image Keiga go the graveyard via Legendary Rule. Gain control of target creature an opponent has. Rinse and repeat for 2U and steal more creatures. Cool

This is a great perspective. Thank you. I never thought about other players being thankful for hosing the graveyard player. I'm gonna give it a shot and see what shakes.

I'm having a similar indecision in my Daxos the Returned deck. Currently running Agent of Erebos and Cremate for GY hate against Meren and a couple others. My only recursion is Sun Titan and Auramancer, so rest in peace wouldn't be bad. But, as someone already mentioned RIP could draw a lot of hate. I think this is due to the constant effect it has when on the table as opposed to one time shots like crypt or spot GY removal like Stonecloaker.

    Good luck!

Interesting. I'm in the middle of a rebuild of my Surrak deck and was thinking the same thing... All instant speed. Part of that would include creatures with Flash (Since Surrak says they cannot be countered.

    My immediate thoughts go to:

Alchemist's Refuge might be decent too.

    Good luck!

I forgot all about this thread! Love to check out articles and content that are not on main EDH sites and can be located a bit off the beaten path. Anyway we can get it "stickied"?

So, if I may, I would like to share my newest article, had a bit of fun with it: Gettin’ Froggy With It – Frogs on the EDH Battlefield

Ah, I admit. I ran this card in 60 card casual back in the day. Yep. I did.

Unfortunately, it's just a one time sac outlet. If you tried to build around Dictate of Erebos and what-not, I'm sure opponents wouldn't be giving this back to you anytime soon. Would love to see a Mogis or Kaervek deck abuse it, so I will be watching for further comments and ideas below.

Hey all! Updating my own Chainer list and was pondering a thought...

Has anyone considered adding MTG Origins Liliana when she is available. Either as part of the 99, or building around her in a similar fashion to Chainer?

    Liliana, Heretical Healer

Also... Sidisi, Undead Vizier, IMO, is an auto include for Chainer. So good!
