If you want speed play LED Dredge.

If you want resistance play Manaless.

Mixing them together just causes problems.

, you can get those pesky basics .

molten rain does hit basics. 2 damage to opponent is if you select non basic.

my decision comes after 2 recent tournaments where i failed to draw fulminator mage consistently and had only 3 mana for days couldn't get the rider out of my hand to do his work.

How many Land Cyclers do you run?

Really? I have been running two maindeck for a while now. Between 4 Fulminators and 4 beast within that gives 8 land destruction cards on turn 3. at least with riders, you can get those pesky basics and it comes back after a living end. yes sometimes when you cast it you cant get the 2 damage in, but it makes a blocker for the big threat.

I have been playing two Riders for over a year and I sometimes add a third if I am feeling Froggy. I am never looking back!

I suppose so. I just really don't like Simian Spirit Guide as much as I used to in this deck - it makes the deck just a bit more likely to beat itself, in my opinion.

Why do you think the Deck beats itself with Simian Spirit Guide ? I think its very powerfull to t2 Fulminator Mage some lands or even cascade with some Street Wraiths in hand

I think what he is trying to say is that sometime SSG makes counterspells two for ones.

I just want to say that in the last few events Gnaw to the Bone has been my MVP from my board. Gaining me as much as 12+ life for three mana. Then repeating when ever I need it again. I bring it in against most aggro decks and Scapeshift. If you have not tested a few copys I suggest to anyone that they try it.

I got to test some games against Jund, Affinity and GW Hatebears yesterday... I defeated Jund 5-0 all pre-board games... his discard was never really an issure since his IOK cannot hit our Scapeshifts or Cryptics. We just have so many ways to keep digging against him and they really cant do anything to stop us when we hit the 7th land to cast Scapeshift. Unfortunately we didn't have time to test SB matchups, but when we went over SBing he figured to bring in the x4 Fulminator Mages, x2 Sowing Salts and x1 Batterskull and cutting the x4 Bolt and x3 Abrupt Decay (i think the SB games would be tough for us but i like cards like Keranos and Baloth in the MU's.)

Affinity was pretty easy even though i only went 3-2 against it... the 2 games i lost, i could ramp quick enough and the other was he dropped his hand on t1. The games i one was quick ramping and winning quickly with Scapeshift. (since they are weak to all combo, its just a race)

GW Hatebears was really tough (its popular at my lgs)But Thalia is annoying as well as Mindcensor. I guess this could be our toughest matchup... i went 0-3 against it and like i said, the MU just seemed unwinnable in 2 of the games. We didnt get to SB either, but I figured Combust is very good as well as a Grudge to hit their Vials.

How many Lighting Bolt do you play? Lighting Bolt should keep Thalia and Mindcensor in check.

    So slightly random questions here:

    1) Probably stupid but could mono black work here? Use Crypt Ghasts or Magus of the Coffers to ramp into clouds? Probably too clunky and too slow but thought I'd ask

    2) Do we have any thoughts on Smallpox, none of the lists I've seen seem to play it, any particular reason why?

    3) Again probably not a good suggestion but Death's Shadow could get pretty big here! What with shocking, fetching, thoughtseizing and clouding I could see times where he could be bigger than Goyfs! (Also the Vorthos in me would love to have both Death Cloud and Death's Shadow in one deck!)

Small Pox doesn't sit well with a ramp style deck that want's a big Death Cloud. Don't get me wrong, Small Pox is a great card and I ran it the the board against control for awhile, but I had to pull Clouds to do it.

At any rate I will be revisiting Death Cloud soon. I want to start Testing with a BUG Walker variant. I will get a list together soon and start testing. I will keep you guys posted.

PS, this is Xmas from the former thread.

I've read that Dredge has the best G1 in Legacy. What gives Dredge the stronger G1 vs fast combo decks like Reanimator/SnT?

Dredge is the main reason nearly all decks in legacy have dedicated graveyard hate in the board. We don't have the best game one in every case, but almost no decks have a great game one against us. We have solid disruption, with a fast clock.

  • posted a message on Do you guys ever think we will see a "Sliver Planeswalker"?
I am no Sliver or Planeswalker expert, but I thought the Slivers(Other than the queens) are all drones with no real mind of their own. Wouldn't that make it very unlikely for them to have a spark?

I still don't understand how Cryptic command is a 50 dollar card.

It sees play in Modern UW/UWR Midrange, Scapeshift, Blue Moon, and Twin.

Fun fact, Scapeshift players don't see Boil or Slaughter Games coming. Learned that at the 5k last weekend. Grin

Anyone think that Garruk, Apex Predator can have a place in Living end? Yes, its a 7-drop but it does so much. I do have my doubts but I am interested to hear what other Living Enders think.

Since I only play 18 lands and four of those are Fetchlands I am going to say chances are extremely low that I would cast him. Maybe as a four drop walker, but not a seven drop.

    Has anyone used Boil?

    Yes. And it's glorious.

I don't think I'd ever run more than one though.

That's good. I put one in my board next to a Choke for an event this weekend.
