The Higher MSRP is just Wizards trying to take a little more of the pot as they already saw that MM was selling for $15-$20 a pack. It is greed pure and simple, which I am fine with as greed just as strong as a motivator as anything else. I feel it will be Wizards greed that will finally be the death or the reserve list. If this is the price we have to pay for that to happen so be it.
It is a strong Combo deck and I personally feel that it is in a good spot in the meta game right now. That being said things do change and if the deck picks up in popularity it will put a target on it then there will be more hate. Pithing Needle, Karakas, Detention Sphere, Sower of Temptation,
I was having a similar problem but I just went and built 8 fully functional Modern Decks. The New Fetch Lands helped me out a lot. Decks I have are Jund, Melira Pod, UWR Control, UW Twin, UR Storm (No Fetches), Affinity, GR Tron, Burn. It's really not that bad to get a few extra decks up and running. This way you can mix up what you play every week and have extras to lend out.
I have just booked for GP NJ in November. Everything is all taken care of short of the deck I Will be Playing. I have no idea. Options are listed in the poll please help me decided so I can get the most testing in.
Locally I am not to worried I Do my part and keep track of my things got burned once and never again. As to some one physical taking my stuff from me I don't see that happening as I am 6'1" 275 grunt that carries a Glock. At large events (GP, Opens) I will only have the one deck playmate dice and life pad with me.
Well Use both approaches. When ever there is a lot on the line I play BGx because I could do that one in my sleep and still win 50%. Locally I have a ton of decks (see Signature)I bounce back and forth from, really pisses some people off because they never know what I am on. But if I where you I would get a good 50% deck strong in an unknown meta game (typically Midrange) a good Aggro deck that you have in Affinity. And a good combo deck. This way you can play the local meta game.
So it looks like this everyone at
shop A is on BGx and Pod I play Tron
Shop B is Twin and Affinity I play Jund
Shop C is Scapshift and Pod I play UWR
So now we can run 4x Verdant 4x Windswept do you thick about running a Basic Plains now that the Mana is better and we can fetch it easier thinking 2x forest 1x Swamp x Plains. It would be a total of 5 lands that do not produce Green Mana. But gives you the option to play around Blood Moon more and maybe take a little less damage of shock when that matters.
I expect the Zen fetch to be reprinted soon. Maybe MM2 or Maybe the 3rd set or a next coming Block. With the new set rotation and the fact that then third set rotates out at different time from the rest of the block expect a set of 5 lands to be in it. In the mean Time I expect that a few of the Zen Fetches to Fall a little bit due to less demand expect Scalding tarn and Verdant Catacombs to be the most expensive Zen Fetches going forward as both Jund and Pod will still want x4 Verdant Catacombs and all the UR decks will want their on color fetch.
Before everyone gets their panties in an uproar, there are 4 pro tours per year. And no, not anybody on this thread will ever attend them, one person per year from this entire forum will attend them, not playing modern on pro tours will have absolutely no impact on the 99.9999999% of people that play modern at all. Perspective?
I don't believe that it is the number of people that will actually play Modern on the PT, but rather what the Modern Pro Tour did for the format. Putting Modern center stage for an entire Season. I am sure the dream of Spiking your local PTQ or GP and playing on the PT didn't hurt. Between the loss of the Modern PT and the changes to the PTQ system I fell the majority of people in this thread are just scared their favorite format will become obsolete.
Picked up my first set in 2012 before GP Columbus for $75-$85 on EBay. Opened a foil MM Goyf I promptly sold to Channel Fireball for nearly $400 store credit to finish my revised duel lands. Traded away en extra set of Blue Zen Fetches at GP Richmond to pick up a MM set of Goyfs. Just recently sold my Future Sight set for $175 each used the money to build GR Tron and a few other Modern staples.
So my wife and expressed an interest in playing EDH after watching one of Star City Game's Commander Vs videos. She played Wolf Run Ramp in standard a few years back and loved it. When asking her what she would want to do in Commander she told me something "Big and Flashy". Told her that should not be two hard. Some cards she wants to play with Grave Titan, Avenger or Zendikar, and Consecrated Sphinx. I do not have much in the way of EDH staples as I many play Legacy and Modern but will do this for her. I do have the 5 new pre cons and Kaali of the Vast (my personal deck) along with a Mimeoplasm pre con. I was thinking about building a BUG good stuff deck for her but Mimeoplasm dose not seem like the best General for that any other ideas would help a lot.
I will make it easy for you. Why chose build both there is a lot of over lap Underground Sea Force of Will Jace Liliana DRS Wastelands x2 Polluted Delta.

Not at this point but that could all change when she starts playing again. I am just thrilled she said she play again.
