  • posted a message on Where have all the Planeswalkers been to?
I was hoping to find out where all of our walkers have been to. I know where some of them have been, but not all of them.

Is there a list of where they've been? I don't need the whole story about why they went, just where they've gone to.

I don't think we've heard about Ral Zarek going anywhere yet. Or Vraska.

I know that Garruk, Liliana, Tamiyo, Tibalt, and Sorin have all been on Innistrad. Of those, Tamiyo was born on Kamigawa, Sorin's been to Zendikar, and Liliana and Garruk are from unspecified planes. Tibalt hasn't planeswalked anywhere that I know of.
I know that Elspeth, Koth, Venser, Tezzeret and Karn were on Mirrodin. Tezzeret was from Alara, Karn and Venser were both born in Dominaria.
Jace and Domri Rade have been to planes outside Ravnica. Not sure where Jace went (I'm guessing Alara or Dominaria after Tez and Vess) and Domri Rade has been to Dominaria.

    That's about all I know.

I would probably get rid of most of the humans and just use as many blue/white fliers as I could cram in there. I've yet to come across a deck that actually ran Flying hate, specifically of the Green type.

When you buy a booster for a friend and one for yourself, only to pull a 50 cent jank rare while they pull a Planeswalker.

Oh, it hurts. It hurts so bad.

Also, losing your trade binders. That's bad too. And knowing that you cannot prevail upon the goodwill of the community to get it back for you. I lost all my rares (from Scars to AVR and core sets sprinkled in for good measure) after my LGS shut down unexpectedly, and I had left my binder there, only to find that when I showed up to claim it he had tidied it away with all the rest of the cards as he was cleaning out the shop. Oh, it made me sad.

Artifact: Angelic Armaments for sure. It looks so cartoony, like something you'd expect Link to equip in an old Zelda game.

Gold: There are only three multicolored cards in the entirety of AVR, and they're all angels. I'd have to go with Sigarda, Host of Herons as well, merely from an art standpoint. She's not a bad card, but her face is so blurry and small you can't make anything out.

I liked the story too, even though the girl seemed a bit one dimensional.

It's also weird to see the Cult portrayed in this way. We always knew the Rakdos were entertainers, and they also have a hand in other illicit activities, mostly slavery and (subtly implied) prostitution. But to see one of the Cult actually living this long and being this dedicated is pretty surprising to me. It's almost like the Cultists are more refined than the people they're entertaining. They're artists, and the crowds that watch are just these slackjawed idiots, hedonists, and perverts.

  • posted a message on What kind of Planeswalker do YOU want to see?
I'd like to see a human planeswalker than made nothing but 1/1 Soldier tokens and their alt would be "Each creature token you control gets +10/+10 and an evergreen ability of your choosing. You may choose different evergreen abilities for different tokens."

  • posted a message on [[DGM]] Pulls Thread
Bought 2 packs each of DKA and AVR, as well as the new Orzhov Power intro deck, containing two packs DGM.

Got a jank mythic and a crappy blue Curse from DKA, Soul of the Harvest and Slayers' Stronghold from AVR, and from two packs of DGM I got 3 Unflinching Courage, one of which was foil. Also got Deadbridge Chant, and Beck (Beck/Call).

Don't be afraid to use removal that allows your opponent to gain life in exchange for creatures lost - with a bleeder deck like this, all you have to do is play one spell and extort as many times as you have creatures to use it. The life they gain back will easily be lost again.

I'd be ok with spending that if it's worth it...I'd rather have a more effective cards in my deck than not. What's your take on High Priest of Penance?

It can be a very effective card against non-flying threats - you're essentially paying 2 mana for a very nice removal effect: creatures, enchantments, both basic and nonbasic land, and artifacts are all targets of his effect. It would have made more sense if the text had read "When High Priest of Penance dies", since most of the time that's what he ends up doing, but dealing damage against a non-first striker will trigger his effect just as well.

It's a useful card. Since people can see he's a removal card, it sort of creates this bubble around him that might scare people into not attacking for a turn or two, especially if they don't draw into any other creatures, because if they swing, you'll block, and then you can pick your target without fear. Because of this, if you have to, you can even hook him up with Gift of the Orzhova so that he can block on the ground and in the air, while pinging for lifelink damage when necessary.

They have to be overcosted or have marginal effects *because* they are repeatable.

They're not as repeatable as all that. Their replayability depends a great deal on what kind of creature you put them on.

And if you should try to put more on the field, your opponent will start picking them off. You might be able to get in a few hits with an unblockable, but they'll answer your swings eventually.

Obzedat is at $25 apiece, though. You'd end up spending a hundred dollars just on those alone. The Angel is much more affordable, despite being less effective.

I don't think a Hexproof Sliver is going to be possible, because when it hits the board they'll all be impossible to remove, and there will be other ways to boost their power and toughness in the core set.

Hexproof is really an overpowered ability. You make it so that they'll only die to lethal damage, when few non-Sliver creatures will be able to deal with a Trampling, Flying, Deathtouch +1/+2 that Regenerates.

    I can see it now:

    Elesh Norn, Sliver Queen.

I'm sure it's only a matter of time before Slivers become less...Sliver-ly and more human, and eventually assimilate the information necessary to Planeswalk with.

We might not get a walker out of it, but possibly they'll just become this nomadic race that walks to other planes, just to find out what's out there.

  • posted a message on If we were to shoehorn planeswalkers into Ravnican guilds...
Ajani would probably be with the Selesnyans, even though others have portrayed him as a Red/White walker.
Jace I can see joining the Dimir, but I think that most of the Blue walkers, Tamiyo included, could do well in the Dimir.
Liliana would be Rakdos, no question about it. She's too callous and unfeeling for the Golgari and would find the Orzhov too restrictive. While she might be a good fit for the Dimir, I think she would chafe at the idea that she would have to report her findings to someone further up the ladder than she is.
Chandra probably Izzet, although I think she would find them to care too much about knowledge and not enough about having a good time. She's too nice for the Rakdos, not wild enough for the Gruul, and doesn't care enough for her fellow man to be in the Boros.
Garruk would be Gruul, without a doubt.
Koth is hard to place. He's not like other Red walkers - he's really stoic and heroic. Either Gruul or Boros. Probably Boros.
Sorin would be Orzhov. Even though he doesn't like excess, the ability to manipulate social forces in a Black sort of way would prove too strong a lure to ignore.
Nissa I haven't had much experience with, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say Selesnya.
Karn would probably shun the guilds, although I can see him being interested in the more science-y guilds, the Izzet and the Simic.
Tamiyo, well, see my post about Jace above. Although, come to think of it, she might like being in the Simic. She has that "I'm a moon rabbit librarian/research assistant" feel about her, doesn't she?
Tezzeret would be Dimir, and probably have all kinds of deals with the Izzet for nifty rogue tech.
Tibalt would be Rakdos - another no-brainer, although I imagine he would probably do things that would make the Rakdos go "Woah, buddy, going a little too far, don't you think?"
Elspeth would probably be Boros, although I could just as easily see her being an Azorius. She's militant about justice, that's for sure.

Venser is dead, so there's no point in discussing where he'd end up, and Ral Zarek, Domri Rade, and Vraska have all been associated with guilds already.

Bolas would never lower himself to the level of joining a guild. He'd just reduce the entire plane into cinders and swamp, and all those that didn't become his cultists and followers would get turned into zombies. Niv-Miz would take one look at him and go "Later, peeps." and just fly off to his secret condo or whatever.
