Is it possible that either glorious anthem or story circle shall be in this set? Neither of them has been reprinted in many years, so I believe that they are excellent candidates for reprints.

-This year is the tenth anniversary of Batman Begins and Star Wars, Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (I can hardly believe that it has been that long already).

-This year is the 15th anniversary of Hybrid Theory and The Sickness, the respective debut albums of Linkin Park and Disturbed (I can still remember listening to those albums in high school when they were first released).

-Last year was the 15th anniversary of Fight Club and the first Matrix film.

-Last year was the 15th anniversary of the Columbine Massacre, this year is the 20th anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing, next year shall be the 15th anniversary of the September 11th World Trade Center attacks, and two years from now shall be the tenth anniversary of the Virginia Tech massacre (such anniversaries may be rather depressing and morbid to commemorate, but I still wished to mention them, nevertheless).

-The Olsen twins are now 28 years old.

-Eminem's daughter, Hailie Mathers, shall be 20 years old in December of this year.

-Steve Irwin's daughter, Bindi Irwin, whom some may remember from Bindi the Jungle Girl, is now 16 years old.

-Next year shall be the tenth anniversary of the death of Saddam Hussein and it has already been six years since the deaths of Michael Jackson and Billy Mays (which occurred within days of each other).

-The original Doom game is now 22 years old.

-Last year was the 10th anniversary of World of Warcraft and the 20th anniversary of the very first Warcraft game. This year is the 15th anniversary of Diablo II and next year shall be the 20th anniversary of the original Diablo game.

-Last year was the 15th anniversary of Fantasia 2000 and Star Wars, Episode I: The Phantom Menace.

-Remember when Bad Boys and the Macarena were first released? That was 22 years ago, when I was in elementary school, and I remember that those songs were immensely popular then, as they were played at many dances and other events held at my school and elsewhere in my town.

Street Sharks makes me feel old for being able to remember it so vividly.

Wow, I remember that series, and I definitely enjoyed it as a child. It was clearly attempting to emulate the "anthropomorphic superhero" formula of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but that does not mean that it was a poor series. What about its sibling series, Extreme Dinosaurs? Did you ever see that series, as well?

I myself would like to see either glorious anthem or story circle reprinted in this set, since neither of those cards has been reprinted for many sets.

I would like to see multicolored cards and legendary permanents, again, since those are now acceptable in core sets, and also some excellent mana-gnerating artifacts. It also would be nice to have the Innistrad checklands or the Shadowmoor/Eventide filter lands, since those have never been reprinted.

Disenchant has not been reprinted in a long time, but I hope that it shall be again, at some point. While it is clear that WotC considers naturalize to be the standard spell for destroying artifacts and enchantments, I see no reason why disenchant could not be reprinted in a supplemental set, such as a duel deck or Commander set, or even Modern Masters, since its printing as a timeshifted card in Time Spiral made it modern-legal.

What does everyone else say about this? Will disenchant ever be reprinted, again?

A good legendary land would be one that taps for any color and has no drawbacks, like a painless city of brass. Being legendary is the drawback because with multiples, each one you draw after the first is a dead draw.

Being legendary alone is not a sufficient drawback for a land that can produce any mana of any color; I believe that it is best that the land enters the battlefield tapped unless a specific condition is met. For example, I believe that "[cardname] enters the battlefield tapped unless you control lands with at least three different basic lands types" is an acceptable condition. Notice that it does not need to be basic lands, so, if a player controlled two different shocklands, the land would enter the battlefield untapped.

Both Conflux and Alara Reborn are considered failures. If you really don't understand why Wizards wouldn't want to repeat their failures, then I don't know what to tell you.

How are they "failures?" I thought that both sets were amazingly awesome! What was wrong with them?

-Judgement Day in the Terminator franchise, the day that Skynet became self-aware and started to exterminate all humans, was originally stated to occur on August 29, 1997, a date that was still in the distant future when the first film was released in 1984. However, that date is now long in the past, and no artificial intelligence started any wars on that day (as far as we know).

-This year is the twentieth anniversary of Batman Forever and the 30th anniversary of The Breakfast Club.

-On that subject, Brian Johnson (the "brainy" student from The Breakfast Club) would likely be arrested today, rather than merely sent to detention, for bringing a gun to school, and the principal, Richard Vernon, would quite possibly be arrested today for his sadistic and tyrannical treatment of the students.

-This year is the 25th anniversary of Commander Keen (the character currently in my avatar); if he aged realistically, he would now be 33 years old (since he is eight years old in his games).

-Next year shall be the 20th anniversary of the Nintendo 64 console and also of Space Jam. On that subject, Michael Jordan retired from professional basketball in 2003, twelve years ago.

-This year is the 25th anniversary of the first Home Alone film and the first live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film. On that subject, Kieran Culkin, the younger brother of Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin, who played Fuller McCallister in those films, is now thirty-two years old!

-This year is the 30th anniversary of Megadeth's debut album, Killing in My Business...and Business is Good! and also of the North American release of the Nintendo Entertainment System, the console that is often credited with reviving the video game industry after the video game crash of 1983 and one of the best-selling home video game consoles of all time.

-Next year shall be the 30th anniversary of Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and if the title character attempted to skip school today, the great prevalence of the internet and recording devices would likely foil his plans, although, on the other hand, few authority figures would at all care today (from what I have observed) if a student was truant from school.

  • posted a message on Do You Have Any Movies that Are Annual Traditions For You?
Some television channels play the same movies every year, such as Halloween movies around Halloween and Christmas movies around Christmas; those movies are annual traditions for those channels, so I wonder if anyone here has movies that are annual traditions for them.

For example, every year, around Halloween, I watch Hocus Pocus and The Nightmare Before Christmas, and around Christmas, I watch both Home Alone films (I count only the first two; the others are not even worth mentioning) and the original How the Grinch Stole Christmas, narrated by Boris Karloff. Those movies are so good that I never grow tired of them (as long as I watch them only once per year).

What about everyone else? Do you have any movies that are annual traditions for you?

Note that the clans are not "True Wedges", "True Wedges" operate around the enemy color, whilst it was announced early on that the Clans are based on one of their allied colors. Fate Reforged reinforces this by showing that the clans were more or less originally two-colored clans that started dabbling into the third color 1280 years ago in order to combat the dragons - note that only a select few have all three colors in their identity (The Mythic Cycle and the 1280 years-ago Khans Cycle).

Design-wise, they learnt from Alara that there is only enough design space for three-colored multicolored for a single set, and not a block - Conflux relied on a 5-color theme (Domain) and Alara Reborn was a mish-mash of two-colored cards with a few Shard cards thrown in (and honestly, was quite a disaster to draft). It's not a matter of fairness or unfairness, devoting a block to a theme with only enough substance for a set was a mistake, and R&D is not eager to repeat mistakes.

Yes, I agree that the clans of Tarkir are no true wedges, so I still am hoping that there shall be a world with proper edge factions.

As for Alara, I do not see why WotC could not repeat what they did with the second two sets of that block with the second two sets of this block, as well. And I still disagree with the idea that there is insufficient design space for an entire three-colored block; with enough creativity and imagination, nothing is impossible.

Kaburi, your post is certainly very well-written and rational, and I can understand your position on that matter, even if it does not make me like the situation any more. Also, given your previous post, I presume that it would not be a good idea to start a thread asking what views each clan of Tarkir has regarding romance and sexuality?

Caranthir, there are not many players of M:tG on the other forum of which I am a member, and that forum is not specifically dedicated to this game; I joined this forum specifically because it was dedicated to this game, so I wish to feel welcome here, but users such as yourself are making it difficult for me to feel that way.

This thread has drifted away from its original topic, so could we please return the discussion to where it began?

Also, whenever asked about this, MaRo just says something cryptic with a smile.
    This is an example: http://markrosewater.tumblr.com/post/107971023403/maro-how-come-certain-colors-of-the-clans-dont

The enemy color of each clan does not get the clan mechanic at all... which hints towards allied color combinations.

But this game already had a focus on allied two-color combinations in Return to Ravnica, so why repeat it in this block? That also is making the implication that one color of each clan is less important than the other two colors, an idea with which I disagree. We had three whole sets that focused on shard colors, but we get only a single set that focuses on wedge colors? That seems to be very unfair, to me.

    Quote from Caranthir »
Sorry to sound harsh, but were you living under a rock for the last 2 weeks? There are at least five other threads discussing DTK potential focus, where this fact you just discovered is used as the support of the allied pairs DTK theory and this very question was brought up like 50 times in numerous other threads.

What I am saying is that such a belated "discovery" is hardly worth a thread...

This is not the first time that you have been rude to me, Caranthir, which makes me wish to ask: why are you being rude to me? Did I do something to personally offend you?

It's okay, I'm quite convinced that this guy is a very thorough troll.

I am not a troll; I am very much an anti-troll, which anyone who knows me well should know. I oppose the concept of trolling, and I always am very serious in everything that I post. When I do post for humor, it is not about such serious subject as this.

Users on another forum of which I am a member once accused me of being a troll, as well; I do not understand why I keep receiving these type of comments in response to my posts, even on completely different forums with completely different members.

30 more cents is outrageously high?

For me, it is, because that increase in price will accumulate over time, with every song purchased; after two songs, that is $0.60 more, and after three songs, that is $0.90 more, almost an entire dollar more for only three songs.

I did ultimately purchase a song, but it was only $0.69 in price (specifically, Metallica's cover of When a Blind Man Cries, originally by Deep Purple); there was no way that I was going to purchase a song worth more than my promotional credit.

We are experiencing a swing in the opposite direction of the pendulum. If a world without dragons is Enemy Wedge then a world with Dragons is an Allied Shard.

That does not make any sense; this block should not focus on "shard" color combinations because there was already a block that did; I believe that this block should remain focused on the "wedge" color combinations all the way through. Should not each color of each wedge be given equal support within that wedge?
