We already know Emrakul is card 006. So there's at least 5 other colorless-mana-cost nonartifact nonland cards numbered 1 to 5. And given how early E is in the alphabet, I'd guess at least 6 or 7 more after (likely more). Oath had 12.

Ima gonna go with 13 of these colorless guys... yup, that sounds about right...

Eh you're right, I completely forgot they don't re-use those art pieces in cards. Same thing with the amazing Fate Reforged art (Sarkhan on fire with Ugin in the background). Oh Well I just wanted to ask because Black/Red are my favorite colors and that is some beautiful art. Could have made a great Promo card =/

It always seems that way to me - they have this amazing art on the boxes and I wish they'd go onto promo cards! The Sorin from a few years ago or Lili on her Innistrad throne spring to mind.

New to prerealease stuff, when should we learn what are in the prerelease clan box?

Wizards of the Coast won't release these as a known quantity. They want you to play by choosing your favorite clan/color/faction instead of by which rare is best or has the best numbers on paper. I usually don't have the full list until after the prerelease (not good for pre-planning, but good for collectors). I will post the lists as soon as I see them, though.

You can make the safe assumption that the Elder Dragons will be possible in their clan boxes as well as rares that have the clan keyword. I would also guess that the dual-colored rare dragons will go in their clan's pool as well. There will be some odd mono-colored choices here and there as well to pad certain clans if the past is any indication.

With the Manifest tokens I am pretty sure that it will be easy to tell the difference between that and normal Morph, especially if Manifest tokens are as numerous as Morph tokens. In limited with the tokens being a little more scarce you can make sure that the face down cards are on different sides or just write it down on a piece of paper.

Don't forget Outpost Siege, another card that you have to keep track of, especially in multiples.

Can't be any harder than Archangel of Strife. For Outpost Siege I would put a die on it and mark a one or a two, for which choice I have made, which is the system I use for the Archangel.

The thing is, the vast majority of players I know (and enjoy playing with) don't come prepared with all sorts of supplies - just $13, sometimes some sleeves, and a six-pack of cold ones. Play mistakes happen and we are the crew that looks at that Morph creature 30 times before flipping it because of constantly forgetting what's there or what the morph cost is... and now there are two different things that look the same. There will be errors.

I personally like the new mechanics and think that they will be interesting from an in-play standpoint. From the standpoint of memory issues and complexity of board organization - i fear it may be a bit tedious. It reminds me of double-faced cards - interesting effects ON play, tedious TO play.

The pendulum is swinging towards a little more complexity this time, it'll swing back later...

When Resolute Archangel enters the battlefield, if your life total is less than your starting life total, it becomes equal to your starting life total.
    4/4

    Mercurial Pretender - 4U
    Creature - Shapeshifter
You may have Mercurial Pretender enter the battlefield as a copy of any creature you control except it gains "2UU: Return this creature to its owner's hand."
The King went off to find himself. Imagine his terror when he succeeded.
    0/0

posted a message on Reward for Completing Hero's Path
No one likes to hear this, but if you are complaining about why this isn't a "real" card, the product isn't designed for you.

This product does an excellent job of doing what it was intended to do: be a fun side project/game/collectible. Note that at ALL stages of the Path of the Hero, there are other promo cards for those who are more competitive (if you aren't a fan of the prerelease, launch, and/or Game Day promos, well, that may be something for discussion in another thread). This product is targeted at the casual crowd.

Remember that two out of the seven hero cards at each stage are completely cost free to both the stores and the players! Only the prerelease Heroes "cost" something and that is entry to an event that already has other prize support and that many of us will be attending anyway.

These cards are fun, flavorful, and add a new dimension to the game... if you are into casual formats. I fully intend to get all 21 of these. I've already used the ones I have and may use them more using GodoftheGrove's ideas as well (I like the training wheels metaphor).
