Stage 13

Stage 12 Results (Only mentioning players taking no damage from multiple attacks, and attackers dealing damage):
• Sagharri and Harbinger tried to attack a player that had already been attacked, thus got pelted with raw goat haunch for 1 damage each
• Solesticio tried to attack a player that had already been attacked, and got a mug of stale beer thrown at him for 1 damage
• TacticalCelebrant’s Goblin Hecklers teased Arcel so hard that he took 1 damage.
Arcel sent a Burning Wheel down the line and rolled over a inattentive Socrates for 6 damage.
Socrates has been killed. Thanks for playing.

They Might Be Giants:

You come to a full stop as the scenery once again shifts. You find your self looking standing in an empty grassy area. You continue to explore this place when you feel a pain as something trips you up. You look down and see that “something” is a full on castle. As you bend down, you see people running around trying to avoid the rubble you’ve rained down, while others scramble around your boot print. To you those people look like ants but to them you are a towering monster. It seems this place isn’t as empty as you once thought, and as the other combatants appear you realize that no puny spells will do any better than those ant-like people down below. It’s time to go big or go home.

This round has a bonus rule: In this world you and your combatants are literally larger then the life around you, so you’ll need a big spell. All creature spells need to have a power and toughness of 5 or higher, and all other spells must have a converted mana cost of 5 or higher.

Once again, PM me a plan of attack or defense that makes use of this stage. Instants and Sorceries are either things you cast or actions you take. Permanents are creatures or items you summon to fight with or on your behalf. Even if your card is defensively themed, you still choose a player to attack. It may not make sense, but it is important to running the game. If you damage someone with a defensive ploy, I'll think of a flavor explanation.

Please title your PM CCB Stage 13 or something similar, and make sure to include the name of the player you want to attack.

Stage 12

This round's stage:
You go from being stuck in place to moving pretty fast, as you land on a coal black train spewing smoke. You look around and see the last rays of the sunset gleam as the barren desert stretches out before you. As the train rounds a corner you see at the front of the large train is a goblin conductor shouting to underlings around him as the train picks up speed again. As you look closer to the train, you realize that all the passengers inside this train are goblins. They're hanging off the sides and more then a few have managed to get a hold and peek their heads up on top. You quickly see what they're looking at as the remaining combatants appear. The goblins whisper excitedly and munch on the haunches of dead animals. It seems that the Goblin Train has come with dinner and a show...and your the show

This round has a bonus rule: Because the goblin's have a short attention span, they don't want to see the same thing twice. Therefore you will be pelted with rotted meat for 1 damage for choosing the same player to attack as another player. This is 1st come 1st served (e.g. If Player A submits a card that targets Player B, and then sometime later Player C enters a card that also targets Player B, Player C takes the 1 damage.) This damage will be dealt before the entries' damage.

Before I show the cards, a few notes on the voting.
• Anyone may vote on this contest, even people who are not participating.
• You may vote for as many cards as you want and you may vote for yourself. You must vote for at least 2 cards.
• I ask that when voting, you consider both how well the card uses the stage (described above in italics) and how well designed the card is in general.
• Some players have theorized that the best offense is a good defense. As far as I'm concerned, this is a completely acceptable choice and I don't want anyone marked down for it.
• Please do not discuss who you think/know made certain cards. Part of the fun of this game is playing with a limited amount of information.
• Posting critiques of the cards is encouraged.

void_nothing: Neapwind Scuttler: So does it gain protection from all things with the converted mana cost of what you pay? Abilites? Creatures? Instants? While it does beat the challenge, the wording just leaves me with…too many questions.

Raikou Rider: Immolate: It kills the cat...and everything else too. Don’t know if you didn’t want targeted damage because it was too much like Skullcrack but this kitchen sink burn seems a little too broad just to get one cat.

Rithaniel: Ozfoes’ Specter: Gets over the defender with flyin and punishes an opponent by making him lose life whenever he activates your threat cards ability. It’s great…except for the fact that it’s a rare, there for fails a key part of the initial challenge.

aurorasparrow: Spirit of Renewal: Once again not a bad answer to your threat, but it once again ails the challenge to it’s rarity.

herbert west: Gloaming Echoes: I’m always a fan of deck stacking tricks, this one’s not bad as it let’s you order the cards in your deck however you choose for however much you can pay, so if you have to only search the first four cards then you can manipulate what those cards will be. However flavorfully it doesn’t end the threat, just makes it useless for a bit. Still a decent card

Emocakes: Dynamo Champion: Yeah it handles the threat, although flavorfully it’s a little bland. Also another rare in an uncommon or common round.

drewdagreek: Crow's Wisdom: Okay so in order to prevent the exiling of an important card you can hope to draw it, and if you’ve had a lot of stuff die you can hopefully prevent any other important cards from being taken…I think. Decent card and the right rarity too. A little weak on flavor but that’s my personal opinion.

Cardz5000 : Haberion Mystic: Meh not bad, but despite lacking a rarity the blanket protection feels like rare territory.

Zoomba: Leyhide Rakken: it gets bigger for every non green spell cast that’s…really powerful against anything that isn’t green. This feels almost like its arare even at it’s cost (maybe because it’s green who’s notorious mana ramp abilities make this things cost far less of a challenge in another color), but to me it still lands very lightly on the Uncommon side. Seeing as your threats an instant I guess it answers it.

So a quick question: Do we count as both a player and a creature in this? The reason I ask is because my threat is a Nacatl War-Pride. It has a token-generating ability that triggers depending on defending creatures I control, so if it's just "attacking" me, does it's ability trigger?

This round's stage:

The wind and water dies down as you are on solid ground again. You look around and see that you are in a cathedral, or at least it once was a cathedral. However, the stained glass has been broken from the windows, the bricks crumbling, and the pews nothing but kindling. Yet you can still feel a presence here as you look around to find it’s source. Your questioning glances are soon answered as you look above the broken down door of the chapel and see a great and terrible angel there. Her ebony wings have been pinned to the stone of the chapel wall with sharp dark metal stakes, and old primitive glyphs inscribed into her flesh keep her bound to the wall, unable to move. Yet despite her immobility, you can still feel life and power radiating out. As your opponents appear beside you, you hear her whispering promises in your ear, promises that can be fulfilled, but only with the blood of others.

This round has a bonus rule: This stage offers a gift to the remaining competitors, but at a price, so for this round, all attacking players have lifelink.[/B

Instant (U)
Destroy target token creature, then put X -1/-1 counters on target non-token creature, where X is the destroyed creatures power.
The prides bond is it's strength, but under the right condition that bond can also be it's undoing.

Quote from Socrates
What if Players A and B both attack Player C

If Player A gets 5 votes, B gets 4, and C gets 3: Does player B gain any life?
What about if Players A and B both get 5 votes and C still gets 3.

In answer to that question, as you might remember the highest vote gets the damage hit, so in your first scenario, Player A would get the life Player B would not.

In answer to the second, I don't vote in the polls for this very reason, I only vote for tiebreakers, so if both Player A and B got the exact same score, I would cast the tie breaker vote to see who gets the the life.

A gift?

This round has a bonus rule: This stage offers a gift to the remaining competitors, but at a price, so for this round, all attacking players have lifelink. How does this work in game, you ask? Well, the examples below should help clear things up:

Player A's card has 3 votes while his target Player B's card got 2
Result: Player A deals 1 damage to Player B and gains back 1 life

Player C's card has 4 votes while his target Player D's card got 5
Result: Player C gains no life and neither does player D seeing as he was "defending" player.

Player D's card got 5 votes while his target Player E got only 3
Result: Player D deals 2 damage to Player E and gains 2 life, because he was the "attacking" player on that exchange.

Please title your PM CCB Stage 10 or something similar, and make sure to include the name of the player you want to attack.
