So how close are we to finding the solution? Because, I have another box, I would like to get the mythics from and draft the rest of.
It IS a weak win condition, but control's best win conditions are all obnoxiusly expensive. Grave Titan is probably the next best thing, but Gideon Jura, Consecrated Sphinx, and Wurmcoil Engine are all far more than $5.
Control on a budget right now is very difficult (it was easier with manlands).
Hey, big fan of the lists you've come up with; they're surprisingly competitive on cockatrice. When are you going to be releasing the decklists for DKA? I'm stoked.
I'm sure this has been brought up already, but has anyone tried a splash of blue in this deck? I've been playing mono-black infect in Cockatrice and found that blue counters would be very useful, especially against mirror. It would also enable a lot of the awesome blue proliferate and draw spells.

I think one of the general themes in this thread is that Magic needs to be made cheaper. I know in Canada, its impossible in BC to find booster packs going for less than $5.
Some sample solutions already proposed:
-Do away with mythics or double the chances from 1/8 to 1/4.
-2 rares in boosters or cheaper boosters
-Make intro/event decks far more competitive
-Reverse price fixing
-Bring back greater player rewards
I've tried running both mono-red vampires and B/R vampires and they just don't seem to work in this metagame. Maybe after Dark Accension's release we'll see a change, but until then I don't think its a viable competitive standard deck.

Wow, I really do like the changes you suggested. However, I do feel that four of Invisible Stalker, Curse of Stalked Prey and Volt Charge instrinsically part of the deck. But, then again your suggestions really make the Runechanter's pike combo work. My sideboard would probably be the same, but swap out the flashfreezes for the Stormblood Berserkers maybe. Thanks BTW.
Ok, this is my first post and I hope I'm not bumping a dead thread here. Anyway, here's my BR Curse of Stalked Prey Deck with some improvements from Van Lunen's:
Traded out Falkenrath Marauders, because paying five for a 2/2 is a **** trade. Neurok Commandos were overcosted as well; although, I did attempt Neurok Invisamancers with similar results. The control elements were also thrown out, because they give you no way of dealing with threats already in play. In addition, many times I did play a mana leak, my opponent was able to pay the cost. Thus, all control elements were removed, in favour of proliferate cards, that also give card advantage and boost creatures.
Finally, I would also thinking of maybe remove all of the Stormblood Berserkers for Hero of Oxid Ridge and Signal Pest. Furthermore, if I had the cash I would dump the Flashfreezes for four swords from Scars.
This just pushes me further away from magic and into war gaming.
