Hardened posted a message on Theros Pre-PreRelease Card EvaluationPosted in: Limited (Sealed, Draft)Quote from PseudofateSince when is rifling through your deck not definitive of a type of CA?
Looters, pitchers and diggers have always been CA. Scry falling into the latter. And if there was already something on top of your deck worth drawing that's CA too.
Scry = Information, Information = CA.
You too, Brutus? I think I have to, with a heavy heart, take the term "card advantage" to the edge of the river and tell it again about the rabbits. -

SCREW YOU WIZARDS. YOU FREAKING SUCK.
For the first time since Ordeal of Phospheros, I've been severely disappointed by these last set of spoilers. Seriously. You decided it was worth ****ing up limited for a terrible cycle of GATES?? Those are actually last-picks in draft. AS A RARE. We get 5... no... 10 HORRIBLE RARES that eat up a slot each in this block! I seriously can't believe it!
THEY ARE LIKE THE CLUESTONES IN DGM, BUT WORSE!
"Yeah, hey, sure, we replaced your rares with guildgates!"
"Hurr durr they scry 1 though."
"The blue one does?"
"No, all of them, hurr durr"
I mean, they missed out on a HUGE POTENTIAL for flavor!
Man lands! Enchantment lands! Devotion lands! Freakin- Bestow lands! HOW MUCH COOLER WOULD THAT BE?!
Yes. I think we have been waaay spoiled with lands in the past. I'm not going to say 'my lord they replaced Sunpetal Grove with this?!?' Because honestly? Since I've started playing pauper... I rather like the gates. They really make you think of when to sacrifice a turn (come into play tapped) in order to have color fixing for the next turn.
But to take up a rare slot in this set is SO INCREDIBLY STUPID it has the potential to wreck my enjoyment of this set! I WILL rip these up if I get them! Completely awful! SCRYING ONE DOES NOT MAKE IT TWO RARITIES BETTER THAN A FREAKING GUILDGATE!
WHY THE HELL DO ALL OF THEM SCRY ONE!?
"Temple of Abandon"
Oh, that's cool. I bet it's got some sort of sacrifice effect attached to it. Maybe you exile a creature. Maybe it comes into play tapped if you control no other basic lands. That'd be cool.
NO!
NO, SCREW CREATIVITY!
THIS CRAPPY LANDS LETS YOU SCRY ONE.
OOOH YEAH! THAT'S TOTALLY BLACK AND RED AND FITS THE 'ABANDON' PART OF THE CARD.
"Temple of Silence"
Probably too powerful to literally silence them with a land. But maybe it makes a creature uncounterable? Perhaps in lets you make a creature gain hexproof until end of turn? Hmm... I wonder what it does-
OH!
OHOHOHOH!
SCRY ONE! WHY DID I EVER THINK SELESNYA WOULDN'T WANT TO SPEND IT'S TIME SCRYING.
God
I'm so freaking pissed
I want to carry around a box. And any time I get one of these lands, I want to spend 10 minutes cutting it into little tiny pieces, and put them in that box. Then, when the box is full, I can set it on fire and watch it all slowly burn away. It would probably smell as ****ty as these lands are.
Stopped reading after "hurr durr." Tell tale sign that any argument made is terrible.

I scryed 1 and the top card of my library was cancer.
I'm going to kill myself and then quit Magic. -

convergecrew posted a message on [[MM]] Dark ConfidantPosted in: The Rumor MillQuote from St@rWizardI love how Wizards' way of giving us Modern staples is through a set where the MSRP for packs is $7, the box preorder price is already up to $300, and the staples are Mythic. Way to not attend to the problem.
They are forcing us to like and play Modern, but they ban everything that rises to the top, and don't give us the cards in decent ways. I mean, wtf?
Yeah, give me more, I'm entitled to everything. -

Dragon's Maze is a cute little gem of set design. For the first time in a long while, we got a Spring set that supports the block's themes to the full extent; moreover, a set that tries its damn hardest to support every single theme in a block that's chock-full of them. All the while being just a small set with a bit more than 150 cards. And I can't help but feel that they've done a pretty damn good job at it, at the very least, much better than Dissension. Every single guild got some goodies to play with (yes, even Izzet and Dimir), and even though we would all like to have more, we should be reasonable about it. Do I feel like the Simic ended up lacking something important? Yeah, I do: I'd rather liked their mythic to be some huge leviathan rather than Followed Footsteps 2.0. But I do appreciate the toys that I did get: an excellent removal spell that doubles as a counter engine, a genuine Mana Drain variant, the single best piece of flavor text in the block (Species Gorger, obviously). And it's the same for everyone I know: my Orzhov brother feels like his guild plays better than in Guildpact, my Gruul friend started attending tournaments, my Azorius friend actually wants to play Constructed... Low expectations are a great thing to have.
And don't forget that, unlike Dissension, every single guild is going to be viable in draft this time. Having DGM as the first pack is going to be quite amazing: it's chock-full of cards that you won't regret passing over, but that are going to reward you tenfold for sticking to a particular guild or two. To put it simply, I can't wait to draft it. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

I need someone to sell me on Winter Orb. It's never chosen very highly and when it's played, it hasn't performed. What is its main purpose? What is its ideal deck? What are we doing wrong? I'm looking to cut an artifact and WO might just be the winner.
