This is one of the first EDH decks I ever built, I have a great time playing it, but I think that the main problem it faces is the tendency to get outrun, I'm trying to fight that with ramp/recursion, and any suggestions are very welcome!
What the deck does
Basically trying to do some annoying recursion/lifegain to keep threats going long enough to get Vish out there and and use him to one shot people, let him suck my guys dry and bring em back for more drinking
Check my list for tech ideas and curving it out properly. The list I run is pretty close to optimal for the French 1v1 meta, and translates well to tradition 1v1.
Splinterfright and the wurm get big off of creeps in your 'yard, which is what a Karador deck wants. The Monk could be used as a recurrable token maker or a giant body, whichever is needed. It also synergized with the Kamahl, Fist of Krosa that I used in my build. Grim Flowering would be insane card advantage. The elk could be a more expensive rampant growth, recurrable.g.
Thank you for your input! In answer to your question, yes I have thought of revising, but I just haven't seen anything that caught my eye, and let me explain why, this Karador deck really focuses more on using things twice, than dumping half my deck in my grave and then pulling the creatures out, for two reasons one: it's more fun for me and two: it makes it so gy hate doesn't cripple me as much as it would a dredge deck... That being said, let me share my thoughts on those cards from that point of view.
Splinterfright - this is an interesting card and I would consider it except that I don't run any non creature spells that I don't mind seeing wasted in my gy, it just isn't worth it to me.
Boneyard Wurm - this card seems good at first glance, until you realize that is just a vanilla beater, and if that's all I wanted then there are better options out there.
Geist-Honored Monk - again for the most part this guy is a vanilla beater the tokens aren't much of a bonus to me except maybe toSkullclamp them? I might consider adding him if I did run good old Kamahl but I honestly don't run him for the simple fact that I don't like him, pure personal preference ;~)
Grim Flowering - I like the idea of this card but it's to expensive for my tastes and at sorcery speed too slow, the only thing I can think to take out for it would be Momentous Fall and it is much better imo
If its more of a multiplayer deck, that I don't really know what to suggest, since I don't really play multiplayer.
If its a 1v1 deck though, there's nothing I can say other than to look at some of the other 1v1 decks in the forum. A general like Geist is going to want an obscenely low curve, lots of counters / disruption, and little else. That kind of deck though is fundamentally different than the one you've posted, so I'm still hesitant what kind of suggestions you're looking for.
Well... I guess I could of built the deck around counters and disruption but I think Geist really wants to be a voltron general, and while I get that it might not be as effective as a counter/disruption strategy I guess I am looking for suggestions that help my deck to be an even better voltron deck than it already is? For example how do I get Geist scarier, faster... savvy? ;~)
This. Although I can resolutely say the following need to go:
3 Wall of Denial
4 Auramancer's Guise
1 Crab Umbra
2 Daybreak Coronet
2 Eel Umbra
2 Luminarch Ascension
3 Rhystic Study
2 Temporal Isolation
3 Vow of Duty
6 Recurring Insight
None of these contribute to your strategy or impact the board in any meaningful way.
First let me say thank you for your input... Although i'm not sure what you mean in reference to some of these...Wall of Denial I get doesn't really fit into my voltron theme but he is a big blocker for three that let's me keep swinging without fear. Auramancer's Guise is absolutely brutal in this deck, it's one of the best cards? Both of the umbras serve to save the general from wrath and clone effects. Daybreak Coronet again this card fits the theme perfectly and is almost never an issue to attach. Rhystic Study, and Recurring Insight both serve to refill my hand with aura and artifact spells, if you have better suggestions I would love to hear them though. Temporal Isolation is a great way to instantly deal with attacking creatures i'm sure there are better options though and i'm open to suggestions for the replacement of this one. I actually really likeVow of Duty I mean it gives +2/+2 and vigilance, but if there are better options I would consider replacing it. And as for Luminarch Ascension I can totally see your point on this one and after play testing it has been under whelming, I am definitely on the look out for a replacement on this one... Any suggestions?
Is this a dedicated 1v1 deck, or a multiplayer deck which can also play 1v1? Without knowing, it makes it difficult to suggest changes.
I guess it's a 1 vs. 1 deck that does really well in a three player game. I built it for heads up but it really tends to shine in a three way because you aren't the only target for counterspells.
Honestly I would help but I am having a hard time looking at this! if you are having difficulty figuring out how to link cards and make this into deck format or generally making it visually pleasing there are several posts in the forum under technical support, or hell if you have a specific question you can't find the answer to PM me and I'll try to help you out guy.
Welcome to your first day in face beating camp, your instructor today will be the Geist of Saint Traft!!! I love to see the scorn for my puny 2/2 turn into panic as he rapidly gets larger!
Reasons you want to play Traft
- You like beating faces!
- You like fast paced decks
- You want to win with general damage
- You like voltron generals
- You play in 2 -3 player games mostly
Reasons you might not like old Trafty
-You think voltron is boring
-You don't want to have to rely on your general to win
-You want to ramp up then explode on faces
-You have a Uril deck and you want something different?
- You only play in 4 player games
What does it do Trabant!?!?!
Well the main idea for this deck is very simple get out your general as fast as possible, make him even harder to kill than he already is, and swing in for 21 general damage while using your little extra flying angel to either swing at your other opponent or a planeswalker or just to beat face even more if you are in a 2 player game (As a side note this deck is not going to make any friends in a 3 player game, you can still win but you will be the target of hate as a certainty)
Every Creature is here for a specific purpose all utility, you wont find any beaters because we want our general to do that for us! Allstars would be Umbra Mystic and Sovereigns of Lost Alaraif you can get it to go off, good luck though ;-)
Artifacts
While we do have 3 mana rocks to work with and some boots for speed, almost every other artifact on this list either gives your general a P/T boost or some kind of evasion or both these are key to getting those hits in although the power boost is nice, your main concern with artifacts is the evasion! some allstars here are any of the swords, Trailblazer's Boots, and Darksteel Plate because who doesnt want a hexproof/indestructible general?
Enchantments
These are our bread and butter people! Enchantments will help you protect your general and really get him to that voltron status you really want! I love having a couple Umbras on him because it makes him that much harder to deal with! some other allstars in this department are Steel of the Godhead, Angelic Destinybecause you can reuse it, and Auramancer's Guise Because OMG you just turned him into Uril!
Instants
Not much here we've got a couple removal a couple of counters to protect our general and one tutor to find game specific evasion!
Sorceries
Well it's EDH so we have 3 wrath effects, a few tutors, one card draw spell, and even a little recursion for that added screw you to your opponent, and man I just couldn't make a blue deck without Rite of Replication in it!!! honestly this is the area I always have troubles making cuts in, but I think we came out with a great spell base!
Change Log
This is where the changes will go when I get replacements for cards!
As a side note I can't stress enough that this deck is not perfect and I would love any input I could get! Thanks in advance!
So I took out Tornado Elemental and threw in Dauntless Escort and never looked back! I haven't had any posts on here and I don't know if that's a good thing because I'm doing it right? But I'm totally open to any suggestions out there!
Hey zerg! I play a Thrax deck with a control theme, so I thought I would take a look! My first concern is that I see no sol ring! You need one!! Also you mentioned that you wanted to win with general damage... But I don't see any evasion for your general apart from the swords which is a little janky I would recommend at the very least finding room for whispersilk cloak and maybe some more things likeprotective bubble or artful dodge there are some other things... Anything that gives Thrax double strike on the run is a nasty surprise like psychotic fury or better yet actually let's him attack twice also like savage beating or other effects that add some fun are sac effects to thin them out before the attack and make your general bigger, any of the edicts would do this, I've got more suggestions but i'm on my Android and it is getting buggy on the card tags lol.
I looked over the decklist of a few others on here and I am thinking about fitting a Dauntless Escort in here somewhere I just need to decide what goes... Tornado Elemental maybe?
How is Marshall's Anthem working for you?? It was in my initial card pool when putting together my Karador deck, but never made the cut due to my assumption that it was far too mana intensive.
End of Line
Actually I think that you would be surprised at how little the cost matters, this deck tends to ramp to a point that the cost is negligable... Always go fetch Oracle of Mul Daya early game if you can.
I realize that there are quite a few lists on here for Karador but after reviewing them I knew that I had to post mine! When I first saw Karador I fell in love, he was made to abuse the crap out of ETB effects, using him for anything else seems silly to me, so as you can imagine that is what this deck does, sacrifice and reanimate! And as a warm fuzzy side effect you get to control the board too! As a warning this is not a budget list if you want to play it expect to fork out some serious cash.
Reasons you might enjoy playing MY dead centaur list
1. You like to reanimate things
2. You don't mind using a little combo in a pinch
3. You like going voltron
4. Feeling unstopable is your thing
5. You don't mind being called a douchebag
6. Seeing other people whine is funny
7. You LOVE to control the board
Reasons you might not want to play MY dead centaur list
1. You want to combo like a boss(play blue then geeze)
2. You hate it when people use grave manipulation
3. You think that EDH should always be casual with no DB cards used
4. Overrunning the board with kickassery seems dumb to you
5. Board control is boring for others so it's boring to you
I hear you saying "But Trabant!!! What does it really do?!?! Why did you put that card in!?!"
Well this is the section where I set about the gruelling task of explaining every card in the deck (this is for those of you who need the juicy details)
Creatures
1 Acidic Slime - Recurrable non-creature removal and it's fetchable with Reviellark!
1 Archon of Justice - Great for use as a rattlesnake, or if you need to exile something then just sac it! and it's a great politics card!
1 Avenger of Zendikar - Oh man you killed my avenger :-( oh wait here he comes again! This guy is a wincon.
1 Big Game Hunter - I picked this guy over other things like Shriekmaw or Bone Shredder because you don't get the color restriction there are alot of scary 4 power guys out there and tis guy kills them all even Sheoldred, The Whispering One
1 Butcher of Malakir - With all of your creatures dieing by your own hand I think this guy needs little explanation...Recurrable Grave Pact? Yes please!
1 Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite - She is the one and only! She makes you win, and takes out all those pesky elves and tokens!
1 Eternal Witness - for when you want recur something that's not a creature, I wouldn't use her for a creature unless your in a jam better to get back that Mana Reflection or cast that Tooth and Nail again!
1 Fierce Empath - This Guy is a recurrable tutor! Need I say more?
1 Fleshbag Marauder - One of the best removal cards in black IMO it's recurrable AND it lets you sac your stuff!
1 Hornet Queen - 5 Flying guys with death touch? I couldn't say no!
1 Iona, Shield of Emeria Great for locking down those pesky mono colored decks or hey choose blue if you are tired of getting countered! A DB card I know but hey if it works...Use it!
1 Karmic Guide - One of the best cards in the deck! can you say everything in my graveyard costs only 5 to cast? Or for those combo folks out there, You can basically grab every creature in your grave if you have her and Reviellark and a free sac engine.
1 Loyal Retainers - This card is expensive for a reason if you can afford it and you can find it, get one! I usually get Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite back with it... But you have several options!
1 Necrotic Sliver - oh yes, a recurrable Vindicate!
1 Oracle of Mul Daya - I never realized how good this card was until I used it in this deck... Seriously ramp yourself silly and always play the land on top of your library before the land in your hand! filtering is so amazing!
1 Primeval Titan - I don't think that he needs an introduction... He's a boss
1 Puppateer Clique - This is the only card in this deck that grabs stuff out of other peoples graves and he's only there because you can recur him out of yours, great to grab those utility cards like Terastodon!
1 Reveillark - A key weapon in your arsenal, It goes infinite with Karmic Guide and a free sac engine, and with all of the little utility guys we are usingit never dissapoints!
1 Rune-Scarred Demon - You never know when you need a flying beater that also grabs you a power card!
1 Saffi Eriksdotter - She is an all star in this deck use her to use any ETB effect twice!
1 Sheoldred, Whispering One - I know she doesn't have an ETB effect but she sure let's you get back those cards that do, and she wrecks everyone elses day! Also she's a boss!
1 Solemn Simulacrum - I usually don't run the sad robot in green decks but hey when I'm recurring the crap out of things why the hell not?
1 Spike Weaver - I was skeptical about this one but it has turned into a life saver it can give you those few turns you need to build up your forces!
1 Sun Titan - Great for getting back your shroud boots! Or those lands that got destroyed!
1 Sunblast Angel - This is a recent addition, it's situational but hey when she works, she's a day ruiner.
1 Terastodon - Well how do you say no to mass targeted destruction of annoying crap? And again, you can recur him!
1 Tornado Elemental - This card is very situational I was thinking about taking it out but then I end up using him take out a Storm Herd so until I figure out a better option it stays
1 Vish Kal, Blood Arbiter - He's Alpha swinger/Targeted removal/Life gain/Free sac engine all wrapped in one, He's a friggin' boss!
1 Yavimaya Elder - Mana fixing and card draw!
1 Yosei, the Morning Star - In a bad situation? about to get crushed? have no fear the Yosei lock is here! I can't tell you how many times that he has pulled me into a win when I thought it was over. As a side note he is the most exiled card in this deck!
Artifacts
1 Birthing Pod - This card is friggin awesome! It does get removed pretty often, but if it doesn't then it accomplishes two goals it puts creatures in your GY and it gets you even more creatures directly on the battlefield!
1 Darksteel Plate - This card is great protection for your general or other threats
1 Lightning Greaves - Epic protection!
1 Sensei's Divining Top - You gotta love deck filtering, and it has great synergy with Oracle of Mul Daya.
1 Skullclamp - With all that sac we might as well get some draw out of it!
1 Sol Ring -the only mana rock in the deck, it's too good not to use!
1 Swiftfoot Boots - Great protection and you can still sac the creature it's equipped to if you need to!
Enchantments
1 Aura Shards - We have so many creatures that this card is like an unstopable wave of destruction!
1 Defense of the Heart - Tooth and Nail for 4? yes please! And it has the great side effect of making others think twice about playing thier creatures!
1 Greater Good - More free sac, this get's silly when you get hit with a board wipe.
1 Leyline of Sanctity - This is your only protection from Bojuka Bog in this deck!
1 Mana Reflection - Double mana? Oh yes!
1 Marshal's Anthem - watch as their triumph after that Wrath of God turns into despair as your entire army returns the very next turn!
1 Mirari's Wake - Woot for extra mana and P/T boosting!
1 Privileged Position - Hmm... Hexproof for everything? MWAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
1 Survival of the Fittest - Putting creatures in your GY and getting what you need like a boss!
Instants
1 Momentous Fall - Well if I am going to lose it, I might as well draw off it... Plus it also saves stuff from getting exiled... which ruins my plans.
1 Return to Dust - For when you need stuff more than dead... Twice
1 Swords to Plowshares - Sometimes you just gotta exile things!
1 Vampiric Tutor - Kinda spendy but worth it, this card is a great tutor
Planeswalker
1 Sorin Markov - Yeah it's a dick move... but hey we want to win right? If it makes you feel dirty inside, then hold onto it until they do something douchey first (That should ease your concience you hypocrit! ;-) )
Sorceries
1 Austere Command - Can you say the best board wipe ever? I love getting to choose what dies!
1 Buried Alive - Don't get gready with this one, in my experience it is best used to grab small utility creatures to kill stuff by recursion when you need it I almost always get Spike Weaver with it because you never know when you might need the protection, but if you get this card late game go ahead and grab those beaters/Day ruiners
1 Cultivate - Yay for ramp!
1 Damnation - Who cares if all creatures die? Mine come back!
1 Demonic Tutor - Tutors... They Tute and Fart
1 Diabolic Intent - Tutor and sac...YAY!!!
1 Genesis Wave - This + Mana Doubler = Winning!
1 Kodama's Reach - Rampalicious!
1 Living Death - This is great after an early Buried Alive, it's situational but it can be beastly!
1 Maelstrom Pulse - Look! It's a Vindicate that kills all tokens if you need it to!
1 Planar Cleansing - Sometimes everything has gotta go.
1 Skyshroud Claim - This has great synergy with all those dual lands!
1 Tooth and Nail - If this card resolves with entwine, then you are probably going to win.
Land
Ok.. So for the sake of my sanity I'm not going to explain every land, I will explain the basic idea here and the utility lands below. (If you have questions feel free to ask) I use all of the dual lands that actually count as a land type (swamp, forest, plains) because this way it makes it easier to fetch anything I may need with the fetch lands or with Skyshroud Claim, I use the filters because they get stupid with Mana Reflection. The mana base is very important to how the deck functions, (I know it's expensive) but you could get by using a cheaper land base if you planned it properly.
1 Command Tower - Any color you need!
1 High Market - A land that lets you sac stuff so good in this deck!
1 Homeward Path - Protection from blue pirates
1 Krosan Verge - This card = mana ramp in a land, I <3 it!
1 Maze of Ith - If you aren't running this... Start, not only does it protect you but if you want to attack with Primeval Titan but you don't want him getting killed in the process this is your go to card.
1 Reflectin Pool - Any color you have you get it again!
1 Strip Mine - To take out the pesky lands that go crazy
1 Temple of the False God - Not great in your opening hand but hey it rocks later on!
1 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth - Just helps with color fixing (And no I don't run Cabal Coffers)
1 Vesuva - This usually ends up being a second Maze of Ith but sometimes it gets to be a High Market too!
Well that is all that I can think to put in here right now, if I made any mistakes in the editing please correct me... Let me know what you guys think and happy reanimating!!!!

Instants
Change Log
As a side note I can't stress enough that this deck is not perfect and I would love any input I could get! Thanks in advance!
Actually I think that you would be surprised at how little the cost matters, this deck tends to ramp to a point that the cost is negligable... Always go fetch Oracle of Mul Daya early game if you can.

I hear you saying "But Trabant!!! What does it really do?!?! Why did you put that card in!?!"
Creatures
Artifacts
1 Darksteel Plate - This card is great protection for your general or other threats
1 Lightning Greaves - Epic protection!
1 Sensei's Divining Top - You gotta love deck filtering, and it has great synergy with Oracle of Mul Daya.
1 Skullclamp - With all that sac we might as well get some draw out of it!
1 Sol Ring -the only mana rock in the deck, it's too good not to use!
1 Swiftfoot Boots - Great protection and you can still sac the creature it's equipped to if you need to!
Enchantments
Instants
1 Return to Dust - For when you need stuff more than dead... Twice
1 Swords to Plowshares - Sometimes you just gotta exile things!
1 Vampiric Tutor - Kinda spendy but worth it, this card is a great tutor
Planeswalker
Sorceries
