Pillowforty stuff without a good reason. I tend to build around weird mechanics so i often put in cards like propaganda to have time to set up. its gotten quite old.

Also ive found that i have different personalities when it comes to playing vs brewing. im a total johnny when brewing but like playing as more of a timmy. my favorite decks to brew are things like eggs and combo, but playing them is kinda meh. But my favorite deck to play is my ball lightning tribal deck that just comes out fast and hurls chunks of damage in the form of big creatures. its super cool and fun for me to have a 6/1 hasted double strike hit someone with a saskia on board, but the brewing wasnt as interesting.

if i have a flipped kitsune mystic and place the exile ability of weight of conscience on the stack. i then move the enchantment onto another creature. Which creature is exiled?

Same general quesiton for captured by the consulate somebody places a doom blade on the stack targeting enchanted creature. if i move the enchantment which creature eats the doom blade?

like someone else said, my Ulasht, the hate seed deck gets hated on more than it should cause it has so many potential infinites. My most hated decks otherwise are king macar, the gold cursed and karametra, god of harvests (elfball with paradox engine)

i cannot reccomend enough a camera bag off of amazon. Its similar to the pirate labs bags that have the customizable dividers. i have 10-11 decks at a time in ultrapro 200 ct boxes and each has a section
this is what mine looks like

you can get them for about $30 and there are pockets that hold paper, pens, and dice just fine. the tripod staps work great for rolled up playmats as well

If a card isn't worth your opponent removing, it's not worth putting in your deck.

Sometimes it makes sense to try being the "second largest thread".
However, they can't deal with all of the threads, so, if the card wins you the game, if unanswered: go for it!

There's two ways to go about the "second largest threat," thing, one of which I like and one of which I dislike.
The first is to play deliberately de-powered cards, in an effort to be less threatening. I don't particularly like this mindset. It feels like an excuse for other things. If people want to play worse cards, more power to them, but Act on Impulse will never be better than Wheel of Fortune because it's less threatening.
On the other hand, if you're playing good cards, but modifying your playstyle in order to be the second person that plays a threat or combos off, that's usually extremely beneficial and reading whether or not your opponent has interaction before deploying your threats is just good play.
As you say, if a card wins the game if answered, it will sometimes win you the game. So people should definitely play cards that win the game.

Addendum: On a slightly tangential note, I've found certain cards are not worth running in some decks because if cloned or stolen, they're even stronger for an opposing player. Something like Seedborn Muse. The new Kozilek is also an unfun card if this happens as well, because even if you don't plan on abusing the countermagic, an opponent might.

If Seedborn Muse is likely better for your opponent than you, you should probably not be playing Seedborn Muse. That said, I think the answer to that problem is making it more worthwhile to play Seedborn Muse, rather than not playing it. It's a powerful card. But yeah, there are cards that are strong mainly because of synergies and just jamming them into any deck is not always correct.

If a card is strong for your deck, however, I would not stop playing it because of the threat of clones or theft effects. It's a bit metagame dependent, but I don't personally find them popular enough to deter me from playing strong cards that are going to be very strong, even game winning, for me in every other scenario.

Added your first comment to my sig if you dont mind. i love that quote.

As for on topic. i think you make a good point but there is something to be said about not being the best deck at the table. In my meta at least there are a few decks going around that are just flat out better than others. either because they are the decks that have the most money or just best cards, its known that certain decks have a reputation and are almost playing a game of archenemy.

the opposite is true in an unknown meta. no one believes you when you say that your animar deck is hydra tribal for example. in an unknown meta you are just hurting yourself by playing sub-par cards.

all that being said, I personally play commander for fun and not super cutthroat reasons (which is totally fine and awesome if you do) so i've run some less than optimal cards because of flavor or a random synergy with another terrible card, but i don't necessarily think doing so gives you a competitive edge

Ive got a Marath, will of the wild deck that is all about looping and redirecting damage triggers with cards like boros reckoner and stuffy doll. thought about making it just r/w with Gisela, but green just adds fun stuff like hornet nest, druid's call and sprouting phytohydra.

brigid, hero of kinsbaile is always one i wanted to use in a deck. Blue has a lot of the untappers but artifacts can help too. My king macar the gold cursed deck is atrifact themed. sword of the paruns, thousand-year elixir, puppet strings are all solid utappers

The group I play with is pretty consistent in playstyle and deck construction. We have some house rules. The guy who played Derevi stax got bored with it pretty quickly when he either locked us all out or got spiked out of the game in 3v1 after 3v1 games. It self corrects, if you have a group of healthy-minded, rational people.

This is the way it works in our group. i dont believe in banning things because often the problem can be taken care of within the game. one guy is the super spikey type. but he also understands that if he plays his spikey decks, he is asking for a 3v1. Rather than ban his decks because they make us feel bad, we handle them in the game. the only problem is that occasionally he complains about being teamed up on. but for the most part he gets it.

Carrionette in my Xiahou Dun deck.... late game nobody expects it. Ritual of the Machine does amazing things as well. Koskun Falls is also a personal favorite in Black for breaking the color pie some more...Black can do almost anything...hehe

Koskun Falls is sooooo good in my King Macar, the gold-cursed deck.

No one else see the Infinite black mana combo with this??
Turn 1 : Swamp, Sol Ring, Mana Vault
Turn 2 : Swamp, Paradox Engine
Turn 3 : Isochron Scepter exiling Dark Ritual, Tap Sol Ring Activate Isochron Scepter, Black floating... Repeat.

Thats a 5 card combo for infinite mana. we already have combos that can do that with 2 cards.

Deadeye navigator and palichron are (almost always) infinite mana with 2 cards

I am allowed to play sanguine bond and exquisite blood which outright win me the game with 2 cards.

I am allowed to play bloodchief ascension and mindcrank. which dont require much to outright win me the game with two cards (and only 3 mana)

there are a lot of crazy things that are going to happen because of this card, but the actual infinite thigs are limited by the cast trigger. yes isochron scepter goes infinite, but you have to cast the cards which means you need to draw cards. and you need a spell to exile with scepter plus the rocks/creatures so you are up into the multiple cards going infinite which isnt as big of a deal.

I think this card is awesome. its gonna be fun to play with and im brewing a new deck because of it. however i dont think it will be format warping or require banning. it needs setup to be degenerate. otherwise its just high value.

Try camera bags/packs. They are very similar to that 'card carrying backpack'. I had an old fishing backpack with tonnes of different compartments.

I have one from amazon that i absolutely love. it has cloth and velcro inserts to make sections that hold my decks. its customizable as well do that i can fit in my dice box and bigger deck box just how i like.

this is the one i use and its around $30

it generally depends. we allow them here or there with kind of a gentlemans agreement to either get the card in question soon, or not do anything too powerful. only issue ever came up when a guy had a gaea's cradle when the rest of us were only using proxies for stuff that wasnt worth making a trip to the LGS or placing a $3 order online. or in my King Macar deck i have a proxied pu

Also we allow printed proxies of stuff you own no matter what the price tag. just because it gets annoying trying to remember where everything is. i like like 5 sol rings but around 12 decks. they all play it. its only a few bucks so its more of an anti hassle than skirting the cost. weirdly though i have a bayou but i only play it in one deck though it could go in 3.

TLDR; my playgroup kinda polices itself basedon what the intention is
