I think another important thing to consider is; Will Tarmogoyf go UP in price?

I think it's a bit ironic that he was a $100 card before Modern Masters was released. Once he was announced, everyone on these forums and everywhere else were speculating he would drop due to being reprinted. I'm guessing they would have said the same about Vendillion Clique and Dark Confidant. I wasn't around for Modern Masters (one of my biggest regrets about taking a break from MTG during that time), but since the release, most of the staples for Legacy/Modern doubled in price.

IF he gets reprinted again, I'm guessing he'll just drop a bit, but not down to $100. If he did drop to $100, I wouldn't complain, since I traded mine off @ $100 when all that speculation was going on.

If you're an overall socially awkward person, I don't think you could ask for an easier transition into the social scene than hanging out with nerds--Heh, I mean people that share a similar interest. In my experience, MOST gamers tend to be easy people to get along with/make friends with, especially when you're talking to other new people. Sometimes, regulars or people who have a lot of experience under their belt may have their own regular circle of friends and be less inclined to help/talk to newer people. But going to FNM, Pre-Release or Game Day is a great way to get started making friends.

Also, I'm guessing you mostly play MTG online?

From what I understand, it's to make counterfeiting cards more difficult. Not like there will be a strong desire to Counterfeit cards from newer sets.

I actually thought he meant "Jumping the Shark" because of all the crazy, random stuff they printed in M15. As if their trying desperately to throw stuff into a core set willy nilly and keep people interested. But I don't think it's really Jumping the Shark as MTG seems to have an ever increasing player base.

I'm a bit concerned about Nissa. I don't have any and this is one of those moments I wish I had pre-ordered her when she was much lower. At the very least, I could trade them while while she's at her peak.

How long do you think it will take her to come down a bit? What will be her near future price (i.e. the remainder of this year)

Also, what about Chief Engineer @ $2? Does anyone think he'll go up? I don't play older formats, but he seems insane in any artifact deck like affinity.

  • posted a message on M15 Clash pack; What will happen to cards it contains.
    Hey everyone,

I've seen some discussion over the effect the M15 Clash Pack will have on a few of the cards printed, but I feel like we could use a thread dedicated to looking over all the cards in one place.

Obviously, the non-foil/promo cards will take a bit of a hit, specifically, Courser of Kruphix, and I would assume Nythkos, Shrine to Nyx will either stay at it's current $5 price or decrease a bit.

What about the other cards in this set?

    Here are my thoughts

    - Prophet of Kruphix Very cool art and Foil. I think THIS version might go for a bit more than the normal version. I'm guessing the normal version will stay at her current value of around $3.
    - Temple of Mystery. I feel a bit concerned about this one because I purchased a playset of the normal version @ 10.80 thinking they would go up in price. Now, I'm afraid they'll drop or stay the same. So much for that investment.
-Courser of Kruphix. It's already dropping, but I wonder how far it will go. I'm glad I didn't trade for a playset of these. I was about to finish a trade online and even sent my address, but the other guy backed out right after the M15 Clash Pack was announced. I'm thinking it might drop to $10-$12?

I'm almost thinking of buying 4 Slash Packs and selling everything but the Coursers. I'm not sure how much the other cards will go for by the playset.

What are your thoughts on this?

    Pile A
    Fulminator Mage

    Pile B

Yeah, I would say Fulminator Mage for sure. You can still open Nissa in packs, and I'm sure she'll drop before too long.

What did you guys think of these trades?

I had to check if this was a kingpun thread.

Anyway, his cards, his problem. As long as he isn't directing his anger at me or trying to intimidate me, no problem. Sure, I could probably call a judge, but then if he's ripping his cards he's unlikely to continue playing anyway.

No, lol it isn't. This really happened. Is that guy still around?

Are you saying you would call a Judge for the guy tearing up his cards? Idk if that would have been the best response. Since this guy practically runs the LGS (not the owner, but runs most game days when the Owner is not working, and works almost every night) As far as I could tell, this guy was/is an acting TO when he's not playing. I mostly just felt a slight bit of regret and shock that he would tear up rares and mythics that he could sell or trade and still have some value (despite being minimal). I think "vindictive" was the best word to describe it. I wasn't sure if asking for the cards/interrupting him would cause him to lose it, so I just watched as he "vented".

Also, he was the same person who I asked about the Goblin Kaboomist upkeep during the other game, since he was sitting right there monitoring the game. I guess it's not the same as a judge, but since it came and went during an upkeep, I decided to bring it up as the active player was finishing his upkeep.

To the Best of my Knowledge, this guy seems like a second in Command/Co-owner of the store. Maybe an "assistant Manager" would be a good way. He was running the store after he quit the preRelease, and I believe he told a few people, including the owner about how he tore up his deck.

Also, he was sitting there when I pointed it out, I'm not sure if he's a judge, but he was kinda the TO, I believe, since he was supervising the players as they finished their match.

So I went to my favorite LGS on Sat for the M15 prerelease.

My first round, I got matched up against one of the employees/co-owner of the Store, and a pretty well-known character that most people seem to get along with. I haven't known him for that long, but he seems like a pretty cool guy. Unfortunately, he had terrible luck and got mana-screwed the first game, then mulliganed and got mana-flooded the second game. He literally cast 3 creatures the first game and maybe 1 or 2 spells/creatures the second.

Honestly, these are the types of games I hate to win, because it doesn't feel much like Victory if you're opponent can't play anything.

After he lost, I mumbled something to the effect of "Sorry about your luck, wish I could say Good Game, but it kinda wasn't"

Then, without much hesitation, he started unsleeving his cards and ripping them in half. Not in a violent way, just a silent, resentful "I hate this Deck" kinda way.
I noticed he set aside Soul of Innistrad and pointed out that he probably wouldn't want to tear that one, to which he responded by promptly ripping it in half. Nothing in his deck was worth more than a few bucks, but I still felt it was kinda wasteful to tear up decent rares like Spirit Bonds, Preeminent Captain, Ob Nixilis, Unshackled, and PhytoTitan. I almost wanted to stop him or ask if I could have his rares since he obviously didn't want them, but I just let him do his thing. Afterwards, I mentioned I probably would have purchased them, had I known he was going to do that. He jokingly referred to another time during the Nyx pre-release when he did the same thing and his opponent cautiously grabbed Ajani, Mentor of Heroes from his pile and said "Please don't hit me".

Anyways, I wasn't quite sure how to react. I almost regret not trying to obtain his rares since he apparently didn't care, and I hate seeing things of value go to waste. It also baffles me why he didn't just sell the cards in the Store's Showcase (particularly for higher value cards like Ajani)

Also, later in the night, 2 playesr had gone to turns and a lot people had gathered around to watch. I noticed that one player who had "Goblin Kaboomist" on the field wasn't flipping a coin every time he laid a mine during his upkeep. I pointed out that I believed you need to flip a coin during each upkeep. There was some debate about whether the coin should be flipped when the mines were activated, or during upkeep. The LGS employee read the card and determined the coin should be flipped during the upkeep. There was a little more discussion, but LGS guy started to become irritated and told everyone to vacate the area and let the 2 players finish their game.

I'm not sure if I should or Should not have pointed out the mistake. I'm guessing our LGS guy was just having a bad night.

Is this trade as good as I think it is?

    Pile A
Garruk Wildspeaker (Duels of the Planeswalkers Promo)
    Hazezon Tamar (Italian Legends)
    Sword of Body and Mind
    The Mimeoplasm (Commander's Arsenal)
    Gemhide Sliver
    Muscle Sliver (Premium Deck: Slivers)

    Pile B
    Taiga (Revised - SP http://imgur.com/a/QxFaf)

I don't know about the values on those cards, but it seems like mostly odds and ends for a solid dual. I'm assuming you're acquiring the Taiga?

Without looking up values, I would go for the dual.

Honestly, I just want a box of MMA because I missed out on the whole experience of cracking a box of MMA (one of my biggest regrets for quitting MTG during 2013-early 2014)and it seems to have good value.
With a sealed box, I feel I have a good chance of getting decent Foil cards and high value cards, like Cliques, Confidants and Goyfs.

I actually bought 3 boosters from a allegedly sealed box that was opened earlier. They were selling boosters @ $20 each or 3 for $50. I decided to buy 3, but I haven't opened them yet. I decided I would either save them for draft or sell them off and try to get my money back and Hold on cracking boosters until I can get a sealed box with Guaranteed mythics, rares and foils.

So partially I want to crack boosters, I also want to draft.

The Lands ARE NM. I've already received pics of them.

I'm inside the U.S. How does the box value change?

Also, if I were to trade for box of MMA in the future (since people always ask how much I value it at) what do you think is a fair/decent value? I'm thinking around $350-$400 if going by Ebay. Maybe $500-$600 if going by SCG or other Online retailers.
