As it turns out, magiccards.info is both accurate and consistent with rarity. (if you define rarity as how common/uncommon a card is) Why can't we just use that?

I myself am more comfortable with the idea that it is legal to play if it was printed as a common at least once, so +1 for this idea.

An African-flavored block would kick ass. A Meso-American block would really kick ass. Philippine mythology is pretty deep too, and I could easily see a whole set's worth of material coming out of it. It'd definitely be a nice break from the greco-teutonic sector of the multiverse that we've spent so much time in thus far.

... or maybe (bear with me, now) there's MORE THAN ONE PLANE WITH BLACK PEOPLE ON IT!!!! There's definitely more than one plane full of white folks in the multiverse, so I don't see why that couldn't work.

I've had similar thoughts for so long - can it really be that difficult?

There is a spinoff from the card game Legend of the Five Rings called Legend of the Burning Sands - sort of an L5R 2.0 that is set in Egypt/North Africa/India and is so rich in flavor. It incorporated a storyline of an exiled clan from Rokugan ( Japan/China ) in a new world, and although the spinoff game eventually folded, the new world was incorporated back into the L5R mythos - great stuff.

And consider The Love Song of Night and Day - how epic was that?

I just wanted to let you know we finally got to give this a try - started with about 300 cards ( common/uncommon Modern frames only ) and it has been a blast!

Lots of quirks and fun interactions too - thanks for your efforts!

    A few thoughts ...

kiljo's Manamorphose - Great job matching theme and title. I wish this piece had been done as a full bleed - it would have easily eliminated the 'bumps' left over from the card type bar and I feel the black and white image would pop more.

Sense_90's Parallel Lives - Again a good match for theme and title. Again we have the 'bumps' left in the composition albeit just one. I like the color palette and the location of the light source. I feel this would also pop more if centered and given the full bleed treatment - the border just pulls my eye back and there is no reason to leave the original artist's credit in this or the preceding entry. Still I really enjoyed this - really nice linework.

BlackBull's Mana Reflection - It was tough 'cause I liked them all, but I decided to just vote once and this was it. Although I found the image a little hard to grok, I enjoyed the textural elements so much and the whole thing was just such an original. I may be unconsciously influenced by the artist's previous work in this regard which showcase similar elements. The reflecting motif in the artist's sig is a nice touch too.

melissamyth's Exotic Orchard - This is the one alter I would most likely see myself including in one of my decks. In fact, after considering it more I went back to add a vote for this piece as well, not realizing that although multiple votes are allowed you only get one opportunity - so +1 for you melissamyth! It's a bit rough at the top but otherwise nicely done.

Aeontropy's Future Sight - I dig it. I really wish that the composition used the negative space ( ie. black areas in the background ) to frame the floating text/mana costs in the interest of legibility - often a problem when working on old card frames. Still, the eye motif is a really good fit here.

Good job to everyone who completed an entry - let's keep doing it and keep the contests going!

    See you in a month!

So I just found this - http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showpost.php?p=8533309&postcount=30490 - meaning I have to pick something else, correct?

    yes, unfortunately.

i will go through all cards later today or tomorrow and give a confirmation that they were legal candidates for the contest by the Time there mentioned. this mean they will stay legal even if an altered Version pops up somewhere else.

May I claim Dark Imposter please?

For the record I don't think 'dibs' are necessary - if we have multiple entries for a card that doesn't show up in MagicTutor we still have 'Undiscovered Country' for the contest purposes.

That said, in compliance with the addendum i will say 'Exquisite Blood'.

Probably want to run that transfigure card as well (can't think of the name) so you can search any of them up and go directly in play.

    Fleshwrither

I like this idea lot btw.

Hmmm ... let's see, there's Kaervek, Kazuul, Khemba and Vorosh which have pretty much settled into what they will be, barring occasional updates.

There is Horde of Notions, Wrexial and Zedruu which I need to make the call on the final 5-10 cards that I'll be happy with. They are close enough that I can simply pull out a few extra ( at this point ) cards and play with them so I will say I have six decks currently.

Most of my play is with my immediate family so it's not as important to have the most powerful deck as it is to have them relatively evenly matched. Having good strong themes and optimal concepts is important though. To that end Kaervek has moved from R/B good stuff to more of a griefer deck, Khemba is non-tribal passive/aggressive control, and Vorosh is a proliferate deck, well, because it and Kazuul are just fun.

And then there are Thromok and Vela - each of which at this point are each a big stack of cards waiting for me to take an evening digging through boxes to put together something workable. They will be finished before a few others like Ghave, Glissa and Reaper King that I pick up cards for from time to time.

I am in agreement with those who have said that as long as they don't overlap significantly there is no problem.

"Postage due"? Aw man, I had to pay $0.20 per envelope to take delivery because only $0.45 stamps were used.

Understandably this is a bummer. Good to get cards though.

On a different note, I want to encourage everyone who sends a package to suggest that they person receiving join the Puca Forums if they haven't already.
There are 400+ Puca members but barely 40 on the forums, which seem to be the most efficient way to share want lists.

I'm also hoping that a lot of the people in the "send" list get more points soon too. It's frustrating to see a list of 5-10 cards that someone wants that I have, and then realizing they have enough points to cover maybe 1-2 of those cards. It's just not worth sending someone 30 points of cards when I can see that I'll have another 30+ points of cards for them the moment they can afford it.

I received and confirmed packages from cmembers rewmanwilson, deadseashoals, drworm73, pineapple, zemogFC - putting a total of 2153 points back in circulation ...

    Good luck!

Matty476, if you're out there, please confirm your fracking address!!! I have like 500 points worth of stuff to send you.

Also, does anyone know if you can look at a specific member's want list? That'd be easier than just hoping you have a card they need entered in your Have List when there's literally 5,000 other cards you could be sending.

What seems to work best is to register in the Puca Forums and browse the want lists as well as post your own want list. It's really good to include as much of the small stuff - 'Cheap Eats' - as you can. It really helps you use as many points as possible in each transaction.

Also, if you have a little time you can do a search - by set has been best for me - and simply click on each card. I've compiled a short list of those that have wants and listed those that I have available in my haves.

You don't have to, I would say, and the idea of the silent submissions was to increase excitement and have everyone guessing about their competition.

However, I can see how marking the card you are going for makes sense to participants.

Ok, I will make the following addendum to the contest rules:

If a participant names the card he is going for in this thread, no other participant may submit the same card as part of this contest.

For the record I don't think 'dibs' are necessary - if we have multiple entries for a card that doesn't show up in MagicTutor we still have 'Undiscovered Country' for the contest purposes.

That said, in compliance with the addendum i will say 'Exquisite Blood'.

I think this was a good idea for a jumping off point - kudos!
