after I change in my personal life i had to downsize my decks and the 3 i kept are by far my favorite 3.
Niv Mizzet because i love the color combo and lets me do big crazy things. He was my first deck when i got back into edh after a 2 year break from it and will always be with me.
Teneb is nivs other half. It lets me play tool box and recursion to grind out players. The general has custom art done by my sister and like niv will always be with me.
Slobad has always had a soft spot in my heart. i won a draft on his back way back in the day. When i played compeditive vintage i played a workshop deck and with slobad at the helm its allowed me to play with some old favorites as well as some new ones.
Each deck reminds me of a time in my magic history so i can't say one has more love then another.
My favorite tech in a Slobad deck is Uba Mask. It's negligable in a deck packing mostly non-instants, and it does a good job of hosing counterspells and rampant card drawing.
Liquidmetal Coating is really good here. You can make any permanent indestructible, plus it allows your artifact destruction spells to deal with Enchantment or any other problematic permanents. Mycosynth Lattice, same thing. I would also play Darksteel Forge to tie it all together.
Finally, I don't know how competitive you want to be, but Slobad decks are really brutal with Obliterate and Jokalhaups type cards, since you can make half of your permanents indestructible before casting it, giving you a huge boost over other players.
the mask is some scary tech! I will keep it in mind but my group gets upset about tefaries puzzel box, they would linch me over that.
Why back in the day i used to joke about building a slobad deck.. then i saw the spotlight from commander cast and was amazed by how good he could be so i got to work.. So far my list is VERY rough but is a blast to play but the biggest problem im having is disruption and removal issues. The deck needs more answers.
So far the Proliferate/Planeswalker Engion have been amazing. Both are amazing when they hit the table, I have even considered adding the other chandra.
so far I have picked up and considered adding some Land Disruption elements. (Blood Moon, Ruination). I am open to any suggestions and feed back.
hey all in my quest to downsize my decks I have decided I want to keep my yosie edh deck around but the problem is that its doing to many things so I have ripped it down to its bare bones for rebuilding.. my first issue is what to theme it with. A two ideas have come to mind:
This Build feels very uniqe but also seems kinda lack luster. One of the big issues of the original build was that it lacked card draw so it got out raced alot..
I know the frame is very rough.. all the cards listed are staples and have proven them selves time and again. I am ok with the deck being borderline cheese as long as it can do so with character. I love yosie's effect and would like to make the most of it.
Meikun: They are your decks. Only you can know what you want to play, and only you know what your meta is like (if you are concerned about being competitive).
What you should do is continue the project - abandon the timeframe. Who cares if you have unfinished EDH decks? You'll get around to it eventually and play the built ones in the meantime.
the time frame wasnt the issue. I have alot of resorces tied up in the decks that i want to try and free up. Like i said I have my cube as well as other projects that could use the cards as well as freeing up the capital for other hobbies. I am a deck builder. I love all of my decks and have them all on cockatrice for when i get a chance to hop online with old friends. but in person i dont need them.
You should look into each seperate deck and see if there are any themes that you see in multiple decks. For example, Bladewing the risen, Wrexial & Thraximundar are in the same three colors and could potentially become one single deck.
I try to keep each deck I have as different as the others as possible, this way each deck I play plays differently
thats the problem each deck is unique..
Niv-Mizzet combo/control (my blue based deck)
Teneb tool box good stuff lark combo
Rith tokens!
Bladewing the risen Reanimator
Wrexial U/B discard control
Kamahl Land beats/green control
Yosie Mono white lock down/disruption
Slobad artifact sillyness
Sakashema stealy no win
(these two have new homes)
Thruxamundar tribal zombies
Mayael naya ramp and fatties..
so from 9 i need to cut down to at least 5... who to cut though..
I think this is wanton bragging. I dont know what youre getting at here... but when i read this to begin with, i thought "waaaah waaaah (okay, now that people are looking...) I have to many decks! help me with something that isnt really an issue that actually needs to be dealt with!"
Then i read your signature, and you know what? im pretty sure im right.
Project Commander: 1 year - 10 decks
Niv-Mizzet
Teneb
Rith
Yo-Yo Yosie Retired 02/02/2011..
Wrexial
Kamahl
Whos Next ?
If you have to many decks, then its easy to take the ones you dont play and get rid of the ones you dont play (you arent regularly playing 11+ decks). having "Decks that dont have generals" is the same as saying "stack of cards." Yeah... see that rare binder? thats an edh deck, just doesnt have a general.
I hope this doesnt come off as an infraction-able flame, because its not... i just dont believe this thread was created for any purpose.
actualy as I stated in the opener i got a new position at work and have been forced to abandon the project. I want to stream line some stuff so i can focus on a few decks and finish my cube. If i was bragging i would state that i have a bunch of big ticket cards like drains and duals in the decks (and yes i do have them). I do play all of them. I used to play edh 4-6 times a week and thus could support this many decks as well as lend a few out.
Thanks for the feed back. As for waht decks i miss it would be all of them. I tried the time off approach and found my self drawn to each for differents reason. 2 will most likely go on permanant loan to some people close to me but at least half will be deconstructed for parts and to save space.
I have been a long time edh player and I have an issue.. I have to many projects that are demanding my time/resorces... so far i have 12+ decks in the works/assembled and its causing me alot of grief.. I just took on a new job and wont be able to play as often as I like. I want to slim down the collection to 4-6 decks.. but thats the hard part.. picking.. decks im working on/playing include:
Niv-Mizzet, Teneb, Rith, Bladewing the risen, Wrexial, Kamahl, Yosie, Slobad, Sakashema, Thruxamundar, Mayael and a few other that dont have generals yet.
I need to retire some of theses but im not sure what ones.. i enjoy all of them but thats part of what makes them so hard to choose between..
dude where did you find an invoke pregiduce! I have been after one for a while. I like the updates man. I can't wait to see it in action.. you should download cocatrice.. that way we can get some games with havil..
needs more thawing glaciers, cold steel heart, scrying sheets and mouth of ronam, all add to the snow count and fill gaps. Also id be on the hunt for some aquire to steal Blightsteels.. I like the list. looking forward to seeing it in action
What possible recursion do Blue and Red have to offer that Green, White, and Black don't already do much better? Especially at the cost of a more difficult mana base? Timespiral Variants in blue?
Ok Nim Deathmantle is great. No denying that. But think about it. Yeah...lets choose five colors including two which don't fit the strategy to include 1 artifact to make the Commander repeatable....
As a teneb player my self I know how unrelyable a graveyard can be. This fact shaped my teneb deck from a build very close to this to a much more rounded stratagy. Blue gives you access to both false and fool's demise two cards that have stupid synergy with wrath effects.
I played radha for a while.. she never seemed relavant.. most of the time i just found my self wanting to play mono green for better mana and synergies. Under the old rules where you could float the mana she would have been alot better.. but now shes very hard to abuse..
livonya silone has always struck me as tech.. voltron her up for best effects..
Child Alara doesn't trigger if it goes to the Command zone. So while yes, it can be recurred from the graveyard, so can other cards that don't require a heftier and more powerful mana base.
EDIT: Why isn't Elsepth Tirel in here?
Nim deathmantle would fit the bill nicely. also in 5 color you have access to every recursion effect in the game
Niv Mizzet because i love the color combo and lets me do big crazy things. He was my first deck when i got back into edh after a 2 year break from it and will always be with me.

I wish red had a Global Ruin I am trying not to destroy all lands just find a way to get some tempo. So far I want to add Blood Moon, Magus of the Moon, Ruination, Sundering titan, Detrivore and Shivan Harvest.

1. Enchantress style build. White loves enchanments and has a large number that allow yosie to to abuse is graveyard trigger. Cards of note. Auramance, Greater Auramancy, Enlightened Tutor, Idyllic Tutor, Lost Auramancers, Tragic Poet, Mesa Enchantress, Monk Idealist, Sigil of the empty Throne, Sigil of the New Dawn, Enduring Renewal
This Build feels very uniqe but also seems kinda lack luster. One of the big issues of the original build was that it lacked card draw so it got out raced alot..
2. Artifact based. Again while has lots of ways to protect, tutor and recur artifacts. Also cards like Nimm Deathmantle and Sword of light and shadow also can recur yosie. The deck would be more powerful but easy to disrupt. Card of note. Lux Cannon, Rings of Brighthearth, Planar Portal, Scarecrone, Grim Poppet, Myr Battleshpere, Myr turbine, Winter Orb, Kuldotha Forgemaster, Pentavus, Mirrorworks, Clock of Omens
