I wish it could protect from sweepers… Does anyone know of a card (U/G) that can prevent cards like Black Sun's Zenith, Mutilation, or Damnation from wreaking havoc amongst your creatures?
4 player game, turn 5 Scion of the Ur-Dragon. i keep terminate mana up after my turn. He fetches Nicol Bolas for his first swing but attacks the guy that doesn't have a flying blocker. I cast terminate on it anyway so nobody is out of a hand on turn 5 when the game is just starting. What do I top Deck? Puppeteer Clique. The Scion player conceded before combat damage took place because he apparently only likes to have his opponents hands removed and can't handle being on the receiving end.

Would have been nice to see his face if it wouldn't have been online.
If there is not enough budget to be changing the decks much in your group, I highly recommend to play Planechase Commander. In my group, we don't even want to try to play without Planechase rules now. It's so much fun, the variability permits people in extreme disadvantage to turn things around, the planes effects can be crazy and the randomness brought by the die rolls mean you won't play the same game twice.
A friend uses Monomania in his deck, for when some one's hand is getting too strong. Personally, I like to have Myojin of Night's Reach which when resolved, most of the times means victory for me.
I love house rules so much so that we don't have any in our playgroup unless you call the partial paris muligan first one free as a house rule. We banned consecrated sphinx for a while but we decided to run more instant speed spot removal instead and he got unbanned with a legendary while on the battlefield rider (since copy effects on a sphinx ruined many games) - now he is no longer legendary. The house rules worked for us and we have people (me) who constantly look at the health of the playgroup and assess the rules we use.
Wow, are you in my bizarro playgroup?
We have 1 free partial paris mulligan (you exile what you don't want face down, and draw the same number of cards).
Our first house ban was Consecrated Sphinx too, for about 2 months. After that, we added a legendary when in battlefield rule, removed the ban from Consecrated Sphinx, and added it to the legendary when in battlefield rule alongside Primeval Titan. This is our current rule and it seems to be going just fine so far.
So, maybe it's the same playgroup on an alternate dimension :cool2:.
In mono green Azusa FATTEHS, Greater Good is boss. If may not be ideal in decks that also have blue, but it gives great draw in a color that desperately needs it.
That sounds like a good plan. I was considering trading for a couple copies of Extraction for my Flare decks sideboard. Thanks for the suggestions. Most likely going to run with them!
Would you say that I just directly switch those cards up from Main to Side and vice versa? Should I just get rid of 1 Clasp and 1 Despise and add 2 other things to the side?
I appreciate the help.
In case of the Distress and Despise, I would switch them directly. The extra Clasp I would dismiss it and remove one of your extra removals in your sb, be it virulent, victim or BSZ, and use those 2 spots for some graveyard hate, either for Nihil Spellbomb or Surgical Extraction
Here's a heads up I give to any person who looks to start a chaos deck just for "fun": you're not going to get much mileage out of your deck. Sure, I concede that chaos can be a legitimate strategy, as Gaka's Norin deck takes great advantage of it. Also, it's a way to deal with a very controlling meta, and a Warp World here and there can be interesting. However, your deck, as you've explicitly stated, is meant to be a griefer deck with "no win condition".
If the deck is going to go that route, you may play once, twice, and even three times before your group will flat out refuse to play with you. The saying goes "there's a method to the madness", but if you don't have a method, then you really are just wasting everybody else's time. As a new EDH player, I just thought you should know.
If you're looking for actual chaos effects, there's not as much need to go 5c, as most chaos effects are in blue and red.
My group wouldn't refuse to play with him. We would just openly gang up on him and take him out fast. Sooner or later, he would learn how to prevent this.
My friend and I will be swapping decks this week for FNM. I usually play Flare, and him MBI. I'm modifying his decklist a little because I feel that he runs too much removal and not enough discard.
Here's what I'm planning on molding the deck to be:
Looking thru this thread, I think this build looks very similar to everyone elses, and I'm not sure how much room there actually is for improvement. Either way, any comments or info would be greatly appreciated!
Voidslime
Cryptic Command
Venser, Shaper Savant
Forbid
Mystic Snake
Pact of Negation
Draining Whelk

I use sombreros on mine though.
Let us know how it goes

2. Attack and trigger annihilator.
3. ???
4. Profit
Main Deck I would do -1 Despise +1 Distress -1 Contagion Clasp +1 Virulent Wound
Distress is a much better card than despise, and the number of creatures that Virulent Wound takes care of is just amazing in the current metagame.
