Mistveil Plains is a card I've never been unhappy to see. You're light on tutoring so it isn't an auto-include, but consider it if you add some more search effects.
Hi there,
Thank you for your response, fiend hunter might be a good replacement for false prophet. In retrospect I'm not even sure why I included False Prophet in the first place. I was looking at cutting Norn's Annex so Sphere of Safety seems like a good inclusion. I dont think I will include Mistveil Plains however since I try to stay away from tapped lands and I dont really have a way to tutor creatures. I will probably cut Oblivion Ring and Banishing Light for Enlightened Tutor and Idyllic Tutor.
I have never played with colorless tutors like Ring of Three Wishes. What is the consensus on these?
I strongly prefer playing mono-colored decks since I find that they have more niche/unique playstyles and usually end up cheaper since you dont need fetches/shocks. Monowhite is the only color I haven't built in real-life (I very briefly had a Darien deck when I started EDH by in 2010, but it wasnt very good and I took it apart rather quickly). Before actually going out and buying the cards, I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on which direction I should take this deck and whether or not it would be viable in a T3 meta (eg: Well built: Ezuri, Claw of Progress, Wort Raidmother, etc).
I picked Mangara of Corondor since he has an interesting ability that deals with every single permanent type. I'm assuming that his ability is highly political as well: "Attack me and I remove your big threat or I let player C beat you into the dust".
The primary purpose of the deck is to abuse managara's ability by either flashing him out before the second part resolves or by doubling his activation. An other alternative is saccing him then recurring him. It also includes most common mono-white control cards. I am considering slotting in Null Rod and Stony Silence but I would need to test more. I'm a bit light on wincons, but I assume that either Avacyn, Entreat the Angels or Elspeth planeswalker would be able to close out the game slowly but surely.
*Note: This decklist may not add up to 100 cards, see decklist by card type for a guaranteed 100 cards.
Ive been playing edh for about 5 and a half years now. Just out of curiosity I decided to take a look at my oldest decklist. It was hilariously horrid.
Here it is: http://www.mtgvault.com/fujishiro/decks/monored-edh/
It used Akroma as General (me and my friends assumed you could cast your general for free on turn 1, lol). 0 synergy and composed entirely of cards I had on hand at the time. I also put in a bunch of goblins because they where my favorite tribe.
What is your oldest deck-list that you can find and how bad is it?
Werewolves EDH was always gonna be casual. I dont see anything wrong with this guy. Very very nice art and repeatable removal. Obviously not tier 1, but fun and flavorful nonetheless. The fact that he is underwhelming for a mythic also means his foil version wont be more then $5-10 which is nice.
Im definitely buying one for edh. But I seriously hope they dont include any other eldrazi in this set. They could give us much more interesting creatures such as zombies/werewolves/krakens. My biggest disappointment for BFZ was the fact that the Eldrazi took up a lot of rare slots that could have been used by new Merfolk/Goblins.
As for portals and turrets, well, there are several cool portals out there like Planar Portal, Coercive Portal, and Erratic Portal, which the last one can also shift into a bounce/flicker theme, which fits the playstyle of portals very well. So other flicker effects like Conjurer's Closet and Ghostly Flicker can be really potent and you're in the perfect colors.
There are a lot of cool things you can do with an Overwatch theme deck, I think. Will have to look into it more thoroughly later.
Its kinda hard to finda "Mcree" character in looks or playstyle. But yeah I was thinking of using most of those portals as her Ultimate. Especially the Closet! Looks cool! Yeah my playgroup is trying to making it as flavorful (and somewhat competitive. Not too many infinite wombo combos) as possible.
Hmmm...you've listed some good ones, but since you're in green, there are a lot of them. You might take a look at bobthefunny's nemata, grove guardian list. it is both controlling and quite splashy.
I play two lists that include worldspine wurm. One is yeva, nature's herald which is a flash based enchantress deck that uses him as one of 3 or 4 very big threats to end the game. The other is xenagos, god of revels. I run a natural order package that can get him out and swinging as early as turn 3 or 4 with a god hand.
Thank you for the suggestions, I have read the Nemata primer a couple of times and I think it looks like a great deck. However as with Kamahl, I'd prefer to stay away from tokens. Xenagos is however an option I should consider.
The one I use for my klompklompstompdeck is Omnath, Locus of Rage. You get to ramp a bunch and your rampspells turns to big dumb beaters later on. Pretty decent at controlling hte board aswell due to all the bolts you have at your disposal.
Omnath is great general, but it feels almost wrong not to run him as an elemental tribal commander. My inner vorthos cannot allow it.
Over the course of the last 4-5 years I have played a couple dozen different EDH decks. Unfortunately, most of them were either control oriented or focused on many little creatures (think, Teysa, Shattergang Bros, etc). Today, after staring at my copy of Worldspine Wurm for an extended period of time and marveling at who cool it was, I decided I wanted to branch off into BIG SPLASHY CREATURES. Im guessing the gameplay is fairly straightforward, but I am unsure of who to pick as a general. I am compiled a brief list of generals I am considering. I was hoping some of the members on this forum could give me some insight on which green commander they believe is best. The only condition I have is that the commander be able to include Worldspine Wurm.
Dosan the Falling Leaf/Yeva, Nature's Herald: These picks are particularly enticing since they allow a certain degree of control. I'm assuming that Yeva focuses more on ETB creatures and flashing stuff in during combat. Im not too sure what I would do with Dosan.
Kamahl, Fist of Krosa: Solid option, Im guessing you build tokens and pump them. While Im open to using this strategy, my doubling season is tied down in another deck and I'd really rather be playing big +10 power cards.
Wort, the Raidmother: Looks amazing, copy your ramp spells, copy your Harmonize, etc. Getting a lot of value out of your abilities is something I really like. If I copy an entwined Tooth and Nail, does the copy also get entwine? My only issue with wort is her high cmc. By the time she rolls around I'm not entirely convinced she'd have the effect I'm hoping for.
While the generals above are the ones that caught my eye, I am open to any suggestion.
Not sure why anyone didnt mention Jalira, Master Polymorphist. Turning a thopther into a kraken is tons of fun. Not to mention all the polymorph related cards have hilarious artwork like: Turn to frog. Cards that shuffle back into the deck like Darksteel Colossus are great too.
Because of moat, player 2, who now had all the permanents couldnt attack since he had no flyers. He couldnt target his enchantments because of dense foliage. Basically me and player 1 where stuck with no permanents and player 2 had to discard his hand every turn and couldnt attack.
Over 2 turns, I top decked reanimate and a swamp. I reanimated the aura thief and killed everyone at the table by swinging with the Aura Thief, who was apparently the only flyer we could draw.

Playing basically every single lord in WBG.

Could we get stats on The Gitrog Monster
Its a real shame we are gonna get so many rare and mythic slots wasted by Eldrazi when there are so many interesting options for Innistrad.
Kamahl, Pit Fighter is pretty McCree-like. Just needs a revolver and a hat.
I think he is better of at the helm of a combo deck with infect creatures. I also see him played frequently at my LGS.
Thank you for the suggestions, I have read the Nemata primer a couple of times and I think it looks like a great deck. However as with Kamahl, I'd prefer to stay away from tokens. Xenagos is however an option I should consider.

Surrak Dragonclaw also has access to blue and red. A solid choice.

Azusa, lost butt seeking/ Omnath, Locust of Mana: Probably best ramp commanders available but they are both exceedingly boring.

Player 2 had enchanted evening, dense foliage and starfield of nyx out. He then played aura thief, killed it and took possession of all permanents on the field.
