Actually..... although I know people will hate to hear it, there is a perfect candidate based on Wizards lore for a color walker right now.

    Jace, The Guildpact

He has become the living embodiment of all of the guilds unity. He, in effect, should have had power from every corner of the spectrum funneled into him.

I know a lot of people scream "not another Jace"..... but in this moment, it would make sense.

We might have to wait another 6-7 years for that iteration of Jace though seeing as that's how long it was between the two existing Ravnica blocks. OMG

The thing with blood baron is, he dispute slots with Obzedat.
Also, 4/4 for five mana is bad stats. At that mana i want to play stuff that survive helix and mortar. K.Hydra had the same issue but at least it only have to survive one turn. The Baron can be chump blocked until your opponent get a answer which is a horrible trait.

He has no problem surviving helix because the helix can't target him in the first place. As far as him being chump blocked until they find an answer some decks can't afford to let their opponents gain 4 life a turn, and there aren't that many clean answers to him to begin with.

That seals it. I'm making a WB humans. All these one drops are amazing!

Same here man! I was hoping Xathrid Necromancer would get some human friends to play with in Theros and man have they been delivering. All I want now is a Gather the Townsfolk type human token producer! I'm hoping to see one in the next two sets of the block if not Theros.

Placed a first time order with Cape Fear Games a couple weeks ago and everything went perfectly! Having ordered from MTGO Traders in the past I decided to give their paper shop a try and the service was just a great as it is from their online store. Shipping was extremely fast and all the NM cards I ordered were actually NM or Mint, which is super important to me as I'm picky about card condition and hate when stores pass off LP (or worse) as NM. It's also awesome that they are active on these forums and you can directly contact Wilmheath here! I look forward to ordering from Cape Fear Games again in the near future!

There's plenty of good cards in m14 that will be playable, just look at the post above yours.

And it currently has 2 Mythics that are $30 or more, and it's EV is higher value than DGM.

It's got solid cards that new players would love (the color hosers are interesting and what new player doesn't like tribal synergies with slivers)

When I was a new player I played Allies for that very same reason.

You would honestly recommend a new player buy a box or fat pack of M14 over RtR? Are you serious? Two mythics over $30? Those are pre-release prices and they will not hold that value, neither will the set's EV as a whole which is also inflated by pre-release prices. Comparing this set to DGM is comparing lackluster set to lackluster set. When you compare M14 to RtR or even Gatecrash it's pretty clear that M14 isn't on the same power level or value as those sets.

It looks like there was a run on Sword of Feast and Famine in the last day or two? I just noticed the spike on the interests page of mtgstocks.com today and it seems like TCG Player is already bought out of copies under $30.

It is not that it is a complicated card but rather that Thoughtseize has a drawback, paying the 2 life. Drawbacks are really rare in coresets. It is the essence of the 'unfun' argument. Most of the spells mentioned as Dark Favor only pay one life and buff up a creature.

Sign In Blood shows up in the core sets pretty regularly and has a similar 2 life drawback to Thoughtseize. It could easilly take the place of Duress in this core set, seeing how Duress has not been confirmed in M14. While some newer players might be upset about losing a creature I don't think that warrants enough concern to exclude it from a core set. I agree with people saying it's more likely to be in Theros block, but I would not be shocked at all to see it in M14, especially since there isn't much spoiled thus far that is going to get people to crack packs.

Hey guys, I've been having some success with this deck at the LGS and am wanting to bring it to the TCG 5K Diamond event here in Chicago tomorrow. I've tried the reckoner version but I prefer the reckoner-less version as it seems to run a little smoother. I have some questions about sideboarding choices and sideboarding for matchups as I am wondering if my choices are optimal. My deck for reference:

I've found that tragic slip (for aggro), Obzedat (mid-range/control) Sorin (mid-range/control) and mark of mutiny (mid-range/reanimator) have been cards I want to have for sure in the respective matchups.

I was wondering of the viability of certain other cards:
Purify the Grave is for reanimator but occasionally gets blanked when they change to a mid-range list post board. It also gets drawn too late sometimes but that could be a problem with any gy hate. I've been thinking of running Rakdos Charm in it's place as it hits the entire gy and might be able to deal some amount of damage to potentially finish an opponent off.

Nearheath Pilgrim is sometimes great against aggro but also sometimes gets removed before it can do anything. I see lists run Cathedral Sanctifier and/or Rhox Faithmender but the Sanctifier seems just ok and the faithmender seems too slow against some aggro decks. Has anyone found one of these lifegain packages to be better than the other. Is it even a must to include lifegain or is it better to just run more stall/removal cards?

Curse of Death's Hold I bring in against the mirror or other grindy mid-range decks. It is great in the mirror and against other decks running Aristocrat/Lingering souls. It also makes Jund's threats easier to deal with, but I could see dropping it for another sideboard card, possibly another Skirsdag High Priest.

Slaughter Games is a card I'm torn on. I find it is really good against control, these matchups are much easier when I manage to cast a 4th turn games naming Sphinx's Revelation and remove their lifegain/draw engine. It's also been decent for me against reanimator, either naming unburial rites or angel/thragtusk. Sometimes it's not so great there though as it whiffs when they board out some or all of thier rites or is less effective if I don't hit whatever I name in their hand. I don't see it in many other aristocrat lists which leads me to believe that they either don't feel it necessary in those matchups or that it's not effective enough to warrant including over other sideboard options. I could use the sideboard space here to fit in War Priest of Thune or another card to use against fast aggro.

If anyone has any other thoughts on what I can do to improve my sideboard I'd be glad to hear it! Thanks for your time! Grin

Wouldn't Wojek Halberdiers be better than Gore-House Chainwalker? The mana cost is more restrictive but Cavern of Souls helps a lot with that, plus it can block and has an upside while the chainwalker does not.

I think the Nimbus Maze lands cycle would be perfect for them to complete and release in M14.

I would LOVE this, Nimbus Maze is a cool concept and a cycle of them would fit in perfectly with the shocklands.

If by "one more mana" you mean angel of serenity, i think she don't compete with this one. Angel of serenity cost WWW so you either rites it, or play it on a more white build. You can't simply splash white and hope to hardcast serenity. This one is WBB so it might have place on esper builds more toward dimir colors with a splash for white.

I don't see many BW beaters with such resilience.

I would rather play Drogskol Reaver for the "one more mana" than this card in an esper build. Neither of them impact the board when they come in but the Reaver is much more devastating when it actually gets to swing. Also it's even easier color wise to cast (1 blue mana and white mana compared to 1 white mana and 2 :symb:)
