In what situations is mindslaver winning a game that wurmcoil, titan, angel or another card in the deck can't win. I ask because I'm building the deck and it seems very much like a win-more card. Thanks

Hi I had a question about mtgo. Recently I was playing a match and me and my opponent were both low on time sub 1 min. He used a command that made it so that he basically never had to click anything again. so no matter how fast I clicked ok or pushed f2 his clock didn't decrease and there was constantly the yes or no boxes for me. I was wondering what button does this because I had like 10 more seconds then him and won game one but lost the match cause I didn't know how to do that. Thanks.

Well blood moon is pretty hateful to be fair.
Quick question I see a lot of UW Tron decks running 1 emrakul but how do we find it?? since it can't be gifts for unless our opponent is an idiot and gives it to us. thanks

out of curiosity is there a reason not to splash for white in this deck? It seems like adding path, o-ring, wrath, and rev to this deck would make even stronger. Wouldn't even need fetches just some seachrome coasts and collonades. I've not tried the deck so was wondering if it had been tried and if it helped or made it too clunky.

I have been playing a ton with Alex Bertoncini's Bant stone-blade build. I was playing against 3 Rug tempo decks last night with it and ended up beating all of them 2 out of 3 games. Alex runs like 23 lands including 4 wastelands as well as a playset of noble hierarchs so I can get a constant manabase going consistently as well as bait stifle out with wasteland. While a turn 3 Knight of the reliquary can mean gg since you can just make it incredibly big while also fetching up wastes. Sure, Rug Tempo could dismember it but that costs mana and many times I'd rather have them spend their resources on killing your threats as opposed to them casting their threats.

The power and consistently of the deck is just off the charts with it's absurd creature configuration and the seemingly infinite control elements it has. It's alot like playing countertop but without countertop which is pretty efficient since countertop can actually take a bit of time to setup which can be a turn too late against snapcaster decks.

Hey Ive been interested in this deck recently myself. My main concern is that it has so few control elements. But you seem to say it has adaquate control. So I guess my question would be is 4 counters and 4 spot removal enough, Ive been having problems w/ my U/W Stoneblade deck when not drawing a snapcaster and it has significantly more counters. Theres not really many utility lands to fetch w/ KotR other than wastes, it does have alot of threats but they are slow threats so how does the deck play? Thanks

I tested both. Here are my opinions on those cards:
    - Exhume and Animate Dead: I won many games against Reanimator my Spell Snare'ing those, when I only run it. But Spell Pierce also counters them until T4 and by that time, you can cast Jace and they scoop.
    - I run more removal so Goyf ain't my biggest problem.
    - Countering Hymn is very good but it won't counter a Spell Snare in response to your own Hymn.
    - Stoneforge Mystic: This one I do agree. If Stoneforge sticks for a turn, they get huge advantage since it's very hard for us to deal with Batterskull.

Spell pierce is alright the problem is that its a virtual dead draw against many popular decks(Merfolk, maverick, and other creature heavy strats), this is why its commonly found in the SB. (unless its a counter heavy deck ie landstill) Yes it sucks when your goyf gets snared and you have a snare and cant do anything but against almost all decks snare counters cards ranging from powerful to critical (which is not something that can be said for pierce)
In a tempo deck or even an controlish deck denying yourself resources and giving yourself card disadvantage before you shuffle is probably not a great idea. I hate losing to a deck I should beat like merfolk because I drew 2-3 pierces G1. Just my opinion after too much testing w/ both, but in the end go w/ what your comfortable w/ as it has a quality of its own.

EDIT: Oh and countering SFM is extremly important for us because batterskull gives us fits like ^ poster stated.

I'm still convinced Garruk Relentless can find a home in BUG Landstill. I'm testing him, and he doesn't have a tendency to Brainstorm and die like Jace, the Mind Sculptor when you're behind and facing aggro. At the very least, he'll kill someone for you (or you're facing Goyfs and Jace can't endlessly -1 them anyway). He's also a relatively fast clock if the board is empty and is also great behind late Standstill.

Under precisely what circumstances is Jace better? Please give them all; I'd love to hear them. (Or is the Garruk spot better filled by Liliana of the Veil, more removal, or more counterspells? I'm currently running 3 Jace 2 Liliana 2 Garruk, and I've got 4 Pernicious Deeds.)

Jace is better if your a little behind or even he provides CA and card quality w/ 0 ability to give you the edge(his 0 ability gives CA after the first time), or he can bounce a creature if you have counters but no removal or to buy you time to draw some spot removal(or a deed/EE). If you just popped a Deed and have even slight CA you can just +2 and screen their topdecks to keep them off threats while at the same time putting them on a clock. Typically when I pop a deed w/ jace on the board its GG, because they usually have only 1-2 cards in their hand because they played all their perms hence why it made sence to break the deed, and if I have 1 counter and 1 removal spell (or 2 counters) its over. The only time jace doesnt make a big difference is when your getting stomped however, even then he gives you 2 draws to help you get back into the game (his 0 ability, the next turn they atk him, and the next turn draw). Since Still slows the game down Jace really shines in this deck, Im personally against "Im playing blue so Ill just throw 3+ Jaces in my random blue deck" this isnt standard he doesnt dominate unconditionally.(In my tempo TA deck 0 Jace) Everything we do in this deck (Massive number of counters, spot removal, mass removal, and reoccuring blockers) helps make jace stronger.

As far as Garruk goes hes a 4 drop so hes competing w/ jace which is not even close if you want to compare him to liliana thats a little more resonable however she a 3 drop and serves the same purpose your talking about, which would make her a better fit. Ask your self this would you rather play a garruk on turn 4 or Jace knowing that liliana can be played on turn 3 either way. What function does he have we arent playing his ult. or his search, so we are either using him as a 4 drop lightning bolt or to make 2/2 tokens if they let him live beyond 1 which if your making tokens they wont.(I mean are you really gonna dump your hand to protect him so he can make a few tokens) Im not saying hes terrible, even in this deck I just think that at 4 Jace is better and liliana can do what we want from him for a 3 drop. I would rather have +2 cards and +1 turn over kill one 3 toughness creature in the only situation where I think your arguing for garruk, and under a late standstill I would rather have jace.

Team america just won a 400 players tournament in Italy:

How can he play 21 lands including 4 wastelands, 3 dazes and cast a Jace? seems very hard with the rising popularity of tempo decks with stifles and wastelands... and why he doesn´t play stifles and play 7 discard spells? why to play engineered explosives?

I have a lot of doubts about the list.

Yea Im not so sure about this list either, He seems to be stuck in the middle either you want to play a tempo game and be able to cast your deck for 2 mana or you want to play a more controllish game and play more lands, jace, and EE/Deed. I play a tempo TA and only run 21 lands w/ 4 Wastes but I can cast my entire deck w/ 2 mana and dont have mana issues. Ive tried the other as well but it felt like a worst BUG Still/control deck that was slightly faster but not faster than anything else but with less control (counters/spot removal/CA).

    List:
    4 Standstill
    4 Jace
    4 Brainstorm
    4 FoW
    4 Innocent Blood
    4 Counterspell
    4 Pernicious Deed
    3 Spell Snare
    2 Liliana of the Veil
    2 Dismember
    1 Life from the Loam

    4 Wasteland
    4 Misty Rainforest
    4 Polluted Delta
    4 Creeping Tar Pit
    2 Tropical Island
    2 Underground Sea
    2 Island
    1 Swamp
    1 Forest

    Sideboard:
    4 Leyline of the Void
    4 Tarmogoyf
    4 Negate
    3 Vendillion Clique

Changes i recommend to this List:

-2 Liliana +1 Spell Snare (The meta is dominated by Hymn to Tourach/Snapcaster decks) + 1 Dismember

The Sideboard i'm still working on and really depends on your meta i guess, i keep changing it each tournament. Right now i'm playing 4 Cliques (it's just a perfect control card and ridiculous in control mirrors).

    Report:

    R1 - Enchantress (2-0)

This match-up is not too hard as you all might know, pernicious deed is devastating against them and you only have to counter their card advantage key cards (argothian enchantress and presence). Post Side you have to be a little more careful cause they usually bring in karmic justice and choke.

SB Plans: -2 dismember -2 liliana + 4 Negate (i think people underestimate how good negate really is, it's just such a versatile card, and it's much better than spell pierce late game, and that's what we want to do, make the game last long)

There wasn't much story about this games, i stabilized on turn 3 or 4 and my opponent was never in it.

    R2- UW Stoneforge/Snapcaster (2-0)

G1 - He Resolves Jace before me and i resolve a liliana, he doesn't draw too well from the 2 or 3 turns he has jace out and i keep discarding with liliana. I Manage to kill his jace with my own and i resolve my jace later on to take control of the game and win on turn 45 or something like that :p

G2- I bring in goyfs and cliques and take out liliana's, a couple deeds (i don't want too many against him) and some standstills (cause i am on the draw and might not be able to create a situation where it's benefitial to me, plus he has a snapcaster and vendillion so standstill may be risky to play). He takes out some of the removal and i manage to kill him with cliques and goyfs and a jace. It's still a bit awkward at times to have creatures and innocent bloods in the same deck, but innocent blood is just the best black removal imo, so you have to play tight or just play something else other than innocent blood if you plan on using many creatures on the SB.

    R3- Reanimator (2-0)

G1- He mulls to 5 and i have a pretty counter heavy hand, he was never in it.

SB Plans: i take out the deeds, innocent bloods (they usually go for jin gitaxias so they're irrelevant), and some standstills (i don't wanna be stopping against him since he can wait until he has 7 reanimation spells in hand and gitaxias in grave and break the standstill then). I Bring in negates, cliques and leylines.

G2- He mulls to 6 and i have a pretty good hand too.

R4 - UBR Ad Nauseam Tendrils

G1 - I have a pretty good hand and manage to resolve jace and untap with many counters in hand, he scoops after he duresses me and sees 4 counters.

G2 - i take out the deeds , loam and some of the removal spells (not all since they sometimes bring confidant and xantid swarm). I bring in negates cliques and goyfs. Turns out he doesn't bring in confidant or swarm but empty the warrens and i die to a bunch of tokens (with 4 or 5 counters in hand) with storm at 5 or 6. I did not expect the warrens (he had no red land in play and used a petal to play it...)

G3- I bring back the deeds to deal with the tokens and take out all the other removal spells. he still manages to make tokens but liliana's ultimate kills half of them and clique + goyf + jace deal with the rest and kill him.

    R5 - Team America (Feature Match) (2-0)

G1- I win with liliana + standtstill after i topdeck a T2 Standstill when he thoughtseized me the turn before and took another.

G2- I bring in the dudes (cliques and goyfs) and he takes out all the removal... I kill him with loam + wasteland (i wastelanded almost all the lands in his deck) and tar pit's which his goyf can't block.

    R6- Canadian Threshold (1-2)

G1- I lock this game at 6 life (he has T1 delver, 3/2 flyer on T2). and he concedes with 1 land on board against my jace + standstill.

G2- I get color screwed by his stifles + wasteland.

G3 - I keep 2 Lands and brainstorm (initial 7) and when i play brainstorm on T3 i don't find a land, and his stifles and wasteland end the game.

SB Plans - I take out standstills on the draw (they come out really fast and standstill his hard to resolve proficiently) for goyfs, and deeds on the play for goyfs. threshold has a tough time dealing with goyfs (they have no STP's only bolts).

    R7- UWR Stoneforge/Jace (0-2)

G1- I resolve liliana and jace but he manages to kill my jace and snapcaster mages help him counter the Card Advantage jace is giving me, plus their flash ability is really annoying when you have planeswalkers and innocent blood is a sorcery. He resolves jace of his own after killing my jace with another jace plus counter backup.

G2 - He has the Nut hand with pyroblast jace and 2 Fow backup. i get stuck on 3 lands too make matters worse.

SB Plans: I take out the lilianas and some deeds for Cliques and some goyfs.

    R8- Vs Spiral Tide (2-1)

G1 - He fizzles the first time resolving time spiral but draws another awesome set of cards, trys again and succeeds.

G2- I bring the negates, goyfs and cliques and take out all the removal spells.
He mulls to 6 and i beat him down with goyfs and cliques and tar pit's.

    G3- Same as G2.

    R9- vs Team America (2-0)

G1- i kill all his dudes and kill him with Tar pits at 2 life (i topdecked a lot in these game too :P).

G2- I force a T2 Standstill and he never gets back in the game when standstill gives me card advantage. I bring in the cliques and goyfs and he took out the removal (again :P). I took out the deeds cause they're a little slow and he has tombstalker.

And that was the tournamet, i don't remember all of details but that should give you an idea of how it played out ;).

    Regards

Yeah thanks for the report, tough beats on the thresh and stoneforge. I personally run both a few innocent blood and a few instant speed spot removal for that reason plus to kill eot. I never though about trying Tar pit(probably because I rarely attack w/ factories just use em to protect jace and to keep mana up just in case) seems interesting though, them seem to be effective for you. Again thanks for the report and congrats always good to see Still do well.(Ive been play TA mostly recently but am planning on playing BUG Still in my weekly soon)

The number of Geddons you should run depends mainly on your curve and land count. If your deck has at least 30 lands (with Tabernacle and Maze of Ith package) and has a low mana curve centered mainly on 3, 4-6 Geddons is the rule.
But most lists on this thread have only 26 lands with many 4 drops and even 6-drop finishers, so 4 Armageddon in those lists is a bit overkill in my opinion. You never want to have multiples in hand, and the low land count turns into a risk of manascrew if you abuse the card, since all other decks can race you if you don't draw enough land (as long as you don't have Crucible in play)

My dream is to have a 32 land Geddon Stax with 3x Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale and 4x Geddon plus 1x Ravages of War, but my budget only allows me to play Humility Stax, and in that deck I've found that 3 is the correct count.

Hey I was wondering if you could elaborate more on the 32 land geddon stax you were talking about, a friend of mine is willing to trade me a Ravages of war for a Sea (i have 6) and the shop owner of my local store has 2 Tabernacles and I have alot he has expressed interest in before. Im currently running Stax w/ 26 lands, 3 geddon, and a standard non-humility/elspeth build and have been considering trying to build the deck you were talking about in the above post. Is it build similarly but w/ just more geddon effects and tabernacles? and how do tabs work w/ geddon reoccuring w/ crucible?
    Thanks

EDIT: Or anyone else w/ expertise w/ the build he was refering to would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks =) I appreciate the few of you that have helped so far. I'm still really new to all this so I don't know a lot of the staple competitive terms and all that but I'm trying to learn fast. Biggest thing about Legacy is just the effing money...

When I first decided to look up a competitive to build I looked at this one and High Tide, but I think because of money I went with this one... I wish I would have seen the "proven" BUG one but it's whatever. This is a good start and it's fun to have annoying board control opposed to making novelty tribal decks. My friend has Elspeth and the mono white Ajani that I can borrow for the tourney at the very least.

Noob comment for sure but: I wish planeswalkers weren't so much of a staple, especially the crazy Jace. I guess I will have to start using them more but I only have a few.

If I ended up getting the inquisition playset, what do you advice taking out?

And I have no idea what the meta game will be like. I've only played for about 3 months, and most of it is just casually with friends. My friend is going to be running mono black vampires I'm running my UWB Landstill obviously.

Hey personally I would recommend Jace 2.0 if you can afford him. He's cheaper than blue dualies and only somewhat more expensive than Strands. Normally Im against "Im playing blue so Ill just throw 3+ Jaces in my random deck" but in Still he is almost mandatory. Still slows the game down which makes him really good, he can help w/ CA and card quality which are good when youre a bit behind or even, and if youve cleared the board w/ a sweeper ie. *** and have even moderate CA its basically GG because you get to screen their topdecks while building up for the win. The only time hes not really good in this deck is when youre getting stomped, but even then hes a brainstorm and a fog which can help you get back in the game and win it w/ the next jace. I personally play BUG Still right now but have played UWx Still in the past and if it becomes more viable(in my opinion) in the future I will again, so I dont run E.Dragon or Decree so Jace is more important to my deck but I still feel strongly about his utility in Landstill in general.

On FoW I agree w/ Kevin its important but if you dont play alot of combo there are other piece you might want to aquire first if money is limiting you right now.

I would also go -1 Decree and move the Engineered Plague to the SB and go +1 Brainstorm its really a 4-of in any blue deck w/ fetches which brings me to fetches. Even if you cant afford Strands as they are 35 ea. the new fetches are only about 10-15 ea. since you run 3 color they can help to smooth out your manabase until you can afford dualies. If you run 1 swamp Id run 2 but thats just me you could go w/ 2-3 marsh flats and 3-4 Misty rainforest/Scalding tarn, if you go w/ 3 marsh flats maybe you could run 1 hallowed fountain so they arent dead if you dont need black or white. They help w/ shuffling away jank from BS, help to thin out the lands in your deck, and help to smooth out your manabase.

Ill add one more thing since my hands are starting to hurt, I would recomend cutting Daze. Its bad in Still on so many levels. Still is like the opposite of TA in that both want to create a situation where you have a resource adv. and while TA looks to deny your opponet resources and gain adv that way Still wants to build up your own reasources and gain adv that way(its more complex than that but in a net shell...). The alt. CC of daze works in opposition to this by putting you behind on land drops by 1 on the play and 2 on the draw. This is kinda bad for still because unlike TA the deck isnt built to run on 2 lands it needs 4 or more for many of its spells, yes if it works perfectly you have removed a threat however, most decks have so many threats that getting rid of 1 isnt worth trading the ability to cast a *** or EE a turn sooner in fact many times stabilizing by turn 4 is hard enough w/o needing to wait an additional turn. All of this is before you take into account the fact that daze is a terrible topdeck if not a dead draw(even more so w/o FoW) and that its a very conditional counter. In Still I prefer hard counters but again thats just me.

So to recap IMHO I would go:
+4 Jace 2.0 (or as many as you can afford)
    +3 Marsh Flats
+3 Misty Rainforest/Scalding Tarn(or 4 Flooded Strand if you can afford them)
+1 Hallowed Fountain(or 6-7 blue dualies if you can afford them)
+1 Brainstorm(Im sure you can afford it :D)

Move 1 Engineered Plague to SB

    -1 Decree of Justice
    -2 Daze
    -1 Yosei
    -3 Plains
    -3 Evolving wilds
    -1 island

PS Just some final thoughts since you dont run Snapcaster you need more than 9 counters I like 12-14 in Still but 10-11 should be ok, and shackels might be ok since you run alot of islands.

Hey guys I wanted to get a sig and avatar if possible (sig if only one). Could you make it the max dimensions by forum rules and have it w/ Tombstalker(left), Jace, the Mind Sculptor(mid-left), Baneslayer Angel(mid-right), Emrakul, the Aeons Torn(right). W/ Baneslayer can you have it zoomed in like [http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/member.php?u=36456] how this guy's is.

If I can get a avatar too could you do Vendilion Clique (Judge foil version) somewhat zoomed in.

Im sure you guys are quite busy so if you can do it that would be great.
    Thanks

Edit: Thanks again xenoninja for telling me about this forum I would have never found it on my own
