The Viashino will be in standard boros decks automatically (1 or 2 of mainboard). The 3 slot has been the weakest spot - aggression wise in game 1 when you need to be strongest.
I think the deck to build around him is already there - Aristocrats. I've seen some Aristocrat players going Hellkite at 5cc - this guy is superior imho.
You can also throw in 1x or 2x mainboard Legion's Initiative to make him basically invincible and it works incredibly well with the entire deck's gameplan.
That said he fits very well into junk or grixxis as well. Slapping a spectral flight on him just seems dirty.
I could be mistaken but he's a Baron - he might be a renegade - which is why he's pro Orzhov colors and why he's at Mythic - because that's quite unique.
1) You must be kidding. You pay X and it drops into play with X counters. Then you add a counter when they cast a spell. It silences the CC at which it's currently at. If it hits 9 it goes boom. That's NOT hard.
2) It has a chalice like effect but it is signficantly different than chalice in operation AND application.
3) The exile ability is flavorful. Do you understand what the card is?
4) The restrictive B only cost deals with that.
5) The bolt was already cast.
6) I don't think you understand the color pie as well as you think you do.
While I agree that making a card complicated is not a good thing, having counters and having a few lines of text doesn't make a card complicated.
My submission was:
Flavorful
Easy to understand
Powerful
Not broken
Unique
Synergistic with other cards (ie, Lily of the Dark Realms)
Possibly detrimental to the user
Some people in this thread are ridiculous.
My card wasn't even like chalice anyway - it continually grows and it silences both players at that CC only so it won't lock a person out of a specific spell for long.
Name: Void Choir Mana cost: X Card Text: X may only be paid with B. ~ comes into play with X choir counters. Whenever an opponent casts a spell, add a choir counter to ~. Spells with converted mana cost equal to the number of choir counters on ~ may not be cast. If the number of choir counters on ~ is equal to 9 or more, sacrifice ~ and exile all permanents target player controls. Flavor Text: Just be thankful that you cannot hear their song.
I think he's on par with Obzedat but his color costs and non legendary status make him superior. Aristocrats already runs Obzedat sideboard but I imagine the double black and white is tough - this guy will work amazing and if you want to be greedy and run 3-4 you can go for it. You can't do that with Obzedat.
Worst case scenario, you run a combo of them and the opponent will have no way of dealing with both.
I'm shocked that people aren't seeing Blood Baron as a $30 mythic... keep thinking it folks... until I can get my playset.
First big tournament will push it's price up substantially, I imagine.
I'll just say it now - this card in the Aristocrat's shell is crazy strong.
Legion's Initiative works so well with him too.. if you land both I can't imagine an opponent overcoming it.
Nice cards this time -
Ebay BuyItNow / TCG low prices - pre orders and 3 months out -
Possibility Storm $.8, bulk
Legion's Initiative $18, 14
This card seems like a midrange power house to me and should see a good amount of Standard play. It is obviously great in EDH, casual, etc. and people will be wanting them for a variety of decks.
Savageborn Hydra $6, $4
Huge doublestrike wurm that grows - lot of casual appeal here to drive it's price.
Deadbridge Chant $6, $3
EDH card I guess - I cannot see a standard use for this since you'll probably die before you ever untap with it out.
Blood Baron of Vizkopa $18, $17
Unless they print some more removal that can hit it, this guy is the real deal and should see heavy standard play. Card price could easily spike to the 20s at times.
Boros getting a ton of love.

Additionally, he's also a little easier to cast and he's not legendary..
This card is going to be huge.
I also think it works nicely with Legion's Initiative tbh..
Honestly he fits well into that deck IMHO.
