Nah, he's just stating that this would indeed be a wasted mythic (with text as is), over say any Shockland. There has to be something else to make this more playable than just on kitchen tables.
There is a slightly larger pool of cards than I thought would be avaiable to be drawn from. Thse numbers arn't exact as some will show up more than once due to being reprinted at different rarities (ie rares became mythics).

I counted what I think would be 67 available rare lands, I'd think there'd be 5 rare lands in MM (so 4 more out 66?).
Hopefully at double-price packs, that CoB is the least "valuable" (if value is any indication of power) card in a rare slot. Otherwise they are going to have just another CMDArse fiasco IMO.
I wouldn't say that 'goyf is the only reason to buy packs en masse, but CoB isn't giving me any incentive to buy (that warm tingly feeling), that's for sure.
I'd like to see them come up with something new, but the checklands are just too elegant a solution. WotC figured they'd be fine in a core set before a block with Shocklands, so there's no reason to not print it in a core set afterwards.

Personally I don't think the tokens will have much to do with any card printed in MM, just a "one of everything never printed until now" situation.
This will be Chronicles 2.0 (even with CoB!), whether or not people like it.
