Because it's a base rule of the game. Making poison 20 is the same as saying "Lets draw 5 cards a turn" or "mana doesn't matter". You can't count changing fundamental rules of the game as "rational house rules".
I can see arguing about changing the base rules of the game as something you shouldn't do, but is your example a good one?
It seems a little over the top to me comparing it (infect @ 20) to "draw 5".
On a side note my group is totally casual. Only two of us read up on this forum. The main people of the group wanted to also decree that we were not going to use the new legendary rule. Luckily they were out voted. They believed Wizards was making a mistake in regards to EDH. Go figure.
If you really want a plane where nothing changes, Shandalar is right there for you. Enjoy.
What I would like to see is something more along the lines of a block returning to the beginning, storywise. Each plane so far gets a total face lift by the end of the block.
How about a really pleasant and fun set that shows off a normal and happy plane? Races in celebration, harmony, fun, good times. There could be underlining disaster looming there, then it becomes known and the threat could be present in set 2, and then set 3 has the climax and resolution which leads back to happy fun times. Crisis averted, plane in tact, heroes have won. Something circular instead of a straight line.
I can see where the product success is tied into drama and conflict, but why can a setting not end where it began?
We also think Felidar Sovereign and like effects should take 80 life.
Wow, lots of hardcore EDH people agree, 10 is fair.
I've never played against it in EDH. No one in my group plays it. We looked at it when SoM came out and went "Oh Wizards wants to kill you with 50% less effort" and applied it to EDH that way as well because that seems to have been their intent.
I hate it a lot so I have run more answers, but the best way to stop Bruna is tuck effects, counterspells, or red spells that steal her letting you one shot the Bruna player or sac her.
In fact saccing her is horrible too for the Bruna player if you can force it. She's voltron and sometimes alone on the field.
Edited cause I noticed you're in Jund. Krosan Grip can get rid of the worst enchantment when she swings. [CARD]
Fade into Antiquity[/CARD] exiles in Green. Red effects that let you steal her and swing with her then sac her in your Kresh deck might be best.
I am sticking with Jenara. Opal Palace just makes her that much more of a secondary win for Bant Enchantress.
I really doubt a Bant legendary will come out of Theros. It just seems like a Greek Ravnica.
In my play group I am never sad to see this card. It becomes a power house in my enchantment deck, Jenantress.
However, I think people are underestimating Swan Song. While Prophet is powerful, the counter is much more versatile.
Aside from Torpor Orb and counterspells how do I stop this? I cannot play Humility without destroying my Enchantress engine.
I am doomed.
I refer to her as Jenantress, Queen of the Enchanted Evening.
Often ends with the Aura Thief showing up with a Calming Verse.

People will play with whatever rules they want.

Graveyard hate could not work. My play group starting using a lot of it against me, so I started running Elixir of Immortality Leyline of Sanctity Witchbane Orb etc.
I am also thinking of going this route with Oloro and was looking at the WBU Hondens as well.
Yeah the B is lackluster. I just included it because by some miracle you have all 3 they get better.
I think I would use it in pillowfort maybe.
I really recommend Academy Ruins
Also Sanctum Gargoyle
