What card am I wanting to have when my opponent plays this on turn 3 in limited? Seems very difficult to interact with favorably without countering, in which case you passed your turn 2 or 3, which is usually bad already.
I control both cards have gained no other amount of life earlier in the turn. My End Step begins and Shanna's Ability is placed on the stack, I get priority before it resolves, I tap my Pristine Talisman for a and 1 life, I then pass to resolve the ability. The ability begins to resolve and I'm asked to pay into . I pay the mana generated by the talisman easily enough.
However, for the sake of understanding the rules of the game. If I wait for the ability to begin resolving and activate the Pristine Talisman during cost payment, does the ability acknowledge that life was gained and increase the allowance for or is that restriction set as soon as the ability begins resolution and does not increase during the actual payment?
If I control Saryth, and a Devil token I control from Burn the Estate dies while tapped, will the damage its effect deals apply deathtouch using last known information? Or is last known information not relevant since the ability itself is not referencing any values or abilities specifically, or simply no longer considered to be tapped upon death?
How does Wild-Magic Sorcerer interact with cards that ask you to copy a spell and then cast the copy? My assumption is that it would trigger off an effect such as Isochron Scepter which is copying a card in exile, and the copy would exist in exile before being cast. Whereas something such as Garth One-Eye would not trigger it as his copies being cast don't exist in any specified game zone before being cast? Looking for clarification and any other corner examples for this interesting card.
Want to clarify that the important distinction is whether the ability is setting or defining the P/T and not just modifying P/T. Abilities that set P/T such as Tarmogoyf are always active, but abilities like Shanna, Sisay's Legacy are not.
I'm putting together a commander cube with multicolor legendary creatures drafted in their own pack. Do you think it would be worth making a special rule for the player who drafts Nazahn to get the Hammer along with him? Has anyone tried this versus just having the hammer in like any other card? I understand some people have done such a thing with the Urza lands in their cubes.
can I tap tokens or creatures for mana with Rite that have summoning sickness
No, because Cryptolith Rite gives the creature itself the ability 't: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool' the creature needs to be able to use tap abilities, which they cannot with summoning sickness.
If Rite was worded simply 'Tap an untapped creature you control: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool.' then it would be possible, as the summoning sick creature is not using a tap ability (it is being tapped to pay the cost of an ability, which is similar but still distinct, the 'Tap this permanent' symbol t is the key difference).
Since there is a lot of talk about the visual design of these new Amonkhet masterpieces, and some discussion on whether these masterpieces will be somewhat less expensive due to diminished demand, I am wondering if there has been any number crunching done for the average increase in value for the Expeditions and Inventions as opposed to their normal printings?
Didn't know where would be best to post about this, but watching several people open boxes today, I have noticed that your box will either have both Tarmogoyf AND Liliana, or neither. (not accounting for foil versions). Obviously don't know if this is the case every single time, but I haven't seen a box with just a goyf or just a lily. Anyone seen otherwise?
Have a pretty interesting misprint from Modern Masters 2017. Interested in what actually caused this, and if, since they are on playable cards, if this would cause a good value increase.
I'd like to keep a list of finalist decks in my cube each time I draft it, and I know cubetutor will allow you to save decklists after drafting on the site, but I'd like to just add a decklist. I can't seem to find a way to do this, which should be a simple task.
