The last set I actually was excited about, and actually played a lot of, was Innistrad. Any one else getting really gitty about some Pre-release/Release?
Love you Ertai87. You have read my mind! Your breakdown of how the meta is currently and how this relates to some slight changes with the deck are spot on (in my opinion). I have not made the switch over to stifle yet, but intend to do so very soon.
Lets see within the last three weeks, I have been called an ******* 3 times, and been told to f*** off once. I have also only lost 3 matches. Yeah people hate this deck.
Pope. I have totally thought of this in the past. But is Storm really our worst matchup? I totally agree that Mindbreak Trap is a clutch Sideboard card for it. But do we really need to improve that matchup? Or are we already sitting well with, pierce, FoW, Catcher, Daze? I think that with the limited 15 Cards we have we should be focusing on other match ups we are not as even in. Just my opinion.
Because when they have 1 crusader and 3 little garbage throwaways, u gain almost nothing - but I think it's good to have 1-2 of them, so u can direct kill a bunch then tribute when needed
I used to follow this line of thinking. But in all honesty, even the life gain from this helps a ton. But rarely am I in that circumstance where they have a million **** creatures. Mostly with leaks and other removal I can get rid of everything but the crusader. Then Hunger it.
And in the Mirror, or someone playing Grave Titan. A tribute to hunger with the trigger on the stack, is perhaps the greatest feeling ever.
I actually run a U/B List with4x Delver of Secrets in the mainboard. I must admit while yes it has got there a few times. And it it is cute. I really feel like its a complete dead card.. I mean thinking about what I could have in place of that? perhaps more removal, a bomb or two, or even just more permission.
I always side them out game two. So I really do like the aspect where I can totally throw off my opponent into thinking that I am running some form of UB Tempo, then just side them out. It has pissed a few people off.
I think the delvers fall into the flex spots. for the deck. Some throw more bombs in. Some play some Planeswalkers.
Pertaining to a rough match up. The temp based U/W Illusions which won the last invi this past weekend has been giving me so real trouble. The reason I have taken 2nd place in the last two tourneys. What are some side board options we can utilize here?
No clue why no one main boards 4 Tribute to hunger.... I have lost like three matches in the last 3 tourneys playing with four tributes. I am not trying to brag. But the card is an all around MVP for me. The life gain is a huge deal. The fact that it gets around Miran Crusader, and Thrun? and numerous other cards. It deals with a Gravetitan. and Wurmcoil..
Went 4-1 at FNM last night with a pretty stock U/B Control. I will post the complete details later. Only round I lost was because I kept a hand with 2x Consecrated Sphinx and 1 Grave Titan.. Yeah I thought I was playing aggro or something? Bad plays are bad. But overall the deck is completly hinged on the piolet knowing how to sideboard, and especially when to use Forbidden alchemy.
I love watching bad players use Forbidden Alchemy.. Just cast it the minute they have it. If you have a mana leak in hand, and a doomblade Why would you need to forbidden alchemy at the their endstep? You dont even know what you are looking for yet.. It just like bad players using brainstorm for no reason in legacy.
Sorry for the rant, but it really does make a huge difference.
@ Grand Superior. Play more basics... I play fish, as well as U/W and I can promise you that from a fish players perspective, your 1 plains and 4 island is amazing for us.. I also suggest cutting down to two wastelands. What are you wasting against folk? I mean they want you to waste your lands against them, seeing as they do not require it. Having played this matchup so many times (friends deck is Stoneforge) Spellstutter Sprite is a true MVP. Add some Mutavaults for the spellstutter to possibly counter a two 2mc spell.
Can be vialed in at 3. Requires blue permanents in play. Scry ability. Indestructible. Evasion.
What is the state of your Sideboard currently?

And Finally Tribute to Hunger is an MVP for sure.
