Problem with Sylvan Ranger is she's not post-rot standard legal.
What should I shift to fit Viridian Emissaries in? After looking at the card, it seems perfect for this; a powerful chump-blocker/early attacker which can ramp and pump at the same time by dying. I really want to fit it in somewhere.
TY for the help so far
Oh, and that 15-card Sideboard is also empty atm...
I think there's better ramp than Elves available, yes they don't come out as 6/6s after you have him down, but spells like Cultivate/Rampant Growth don't die to instant removal either. Which also begs the question how do you protect him from 2 mana removal spells?
Well, once you have a few copies out that wouldn't be a problem, because the copies have the same effect... you just need a cheap way to put copies out.
Innistrad Standard is my first real Standard environment (I started playing maybe a month ago, and as a result have been playing budget M12/SoM Block while I waited for Innistrad.
Anyway, I've tried building this list with the Innistrad spoilers.
I haven't worked out a Sideboard yet, but I want a few things in there like Mental Misstep to counter Nihil Spellbombs, etc.
So what I need help with;
Criticism and comments on the main deck, what I should do better, what's **** in there, etc.
I know I don't have enough (any) removal/ways to deal with evasion, but I'm new to this and after spending a while on this alone it just got full to the brim.
Any help at all is incredible, thank you
EDIT: I guess I should say what I'm trying to do;
The aim I had was to fill the Graveyard, to buff Splinterfright and Kessig Cagebreakers, which I put a couple of ways to fetch in.
So I wasn't doing nothing with my Mana, I put in Asceticism as something which can protect my creatures if things go awry.
Skaab Ruinator is in there so that if things go ****ing awry, I can fetch him out of the yard quite cheaply.
I'm going to invest in a tiara to resemble each curse and put the tiara on the cursed soul.
Why tiaras? A series of funny hats will be my play, each with a comically oversized version of the curse stuck in the band, mad-hatter-style. Then just force them to don the Curse Hat when I play them.
If I curse them more than once, then they have to wear multiple hats, TF2-fashion.
Help a n00b out! What kind of thing is on a prerelease achievement card?
Also, what kind of achievements should I go for at this weekend's event, just the non-official achievement that you love trying to do at prerelease. I want a big list; I'm almost spending the entire weekend at my LGS.
This is my first Magic prerelease, so again, be gentle on the n00b.
except that its actually considered using outside notes/outside game information which is a DQ offense.
But surely there's no info on a back-side token that you couldn't get by physically picking up the card from your Transform pile and looking at it?
I wouldn't want to go desleeving a foil Garruk just to flip him, especially because food goes around at my LGS's events; **** would get ****ty.
What's the ruling on having two DFCs for one? I.e. a Garruk Relentless day face up in sleeve that goes in your deck, and a Garruk Relentless in-sleeve night-face-up in the Transform Pile (that you don't need because of sleeves, but the Night Garruk's still in it). Then when you play Day Garruk, and he gets transformed, replacing him with Night Garruk, to prevent card damage/oil.
Who's going to run an otherwise useless artifact in anything other than a sideboard, and who would waste sideboard space on a counter for only one type of deck? Unless a game-breaking combo appears, or a self-mill deck makes it into the PT, I doubt it'll be a problem.
My little contribution, and one that wouldn't really care if the yard was exiled or not, is Laboratory Maniac. if things go extraordinarily ****ty (i.e. Nihil Spellbomb neuters your Splinterfright) or you manage to self-mill backwards out your own arse with Jace, then you can just pick up the win by trying to draw.
11x Forest
9x Island
4x Hinterland Harbour

2x Kessig Cagebreakers
4x Birds of Paradise
4x Merfolk Looter

3x Green Sun's Zenith
3x Overrun

Can you name "Human" with Xenograft, play Ludevic's Test Subject or similar, and then Transform it with Moonmist?
I thought it should be fine, but no point in not asking, eh?

2. Kessig Cagebreakers
3. Nevermore
4. Geist of Saint Traft
5. Angel of Flight Alabaster
And it's pretty awesome.
I really want to make a self-mill deck with Kessig Cagebreakers and Splinterfright... So that side of the set is making me squee.

Otherwise, Mental Misstep as mentioned. Whoo!
