In general you just want to hope that you can get your finisher on the board. As people above have mentioned, the best real way to deal with it is to splash White or Red, then either O-Ring it or burn it to death.
Two thoughts I've had on Pokeballs, I'll look through the submissions right after I eat dinner to make sure I'm not going to repost anything.
1. They should be Trinket Mage-able, I think it just feels right.
2. Let's keep them simple so that we can make a nice vertical cycle out of Pokeball Great ball Ultra ball Masterball.
Evolution Guide Venusaur 5GG
Venusaur evolves from Ivysaur
Creature-Plant Beast GT-Tap a creature you control. Search your library for a card which that creature could evolve to, and add it to your hand.
Evolve-3GG
5/7
A top down of a Venusaur featured in one of the older anime episodes which would help Bulbasaurs evolve. 5/6 because this thing wants to be helping you find different kill conditions, rather than being one itself, might be a little narrow though, so if this doesn't get through, maybe recycle the ability onto a Sorcery?
Just a request all, hold off on voting til tomorrow please, I'm finishing up my Venusaur submission, just getting exact details and all right, but I've got to get off my computer very soon.
Budding Ivysaur2G
Creature- Lizard Plant
Evolve 1G
Carryover - 1G: Put a +1/+1 counter on ~.
3/3
Personally I think this is a little much, seeing as it's a 4/4 for2GG. That seems uncomforably fast to me, but it might turn out to be balanced in the end. 2/5 for now
Flourishing Ivysaur3GG
Creature - Plant Lizard (Uncommon)
Evolve 2G T: Put 2 +1/+1 counters on ~.
When ~ evolves, put X +1/+1 counters on the creature it evolved into where X is the number of +1/+1 counters on ~.
2/2
Lovely, it also is an opportunity to show off the new mechanics 4/5.
Blooming Ivysaur :4mana::symg:
Creature - Plant Beast
When ~ enters the battlefield or is evolved into, draw a card.
Evolve :2mana::symg:
3/4
I'd put this in, it's a nice simple example as to how Evolve can be used.
I want Flourishing Ivysaur and Blooming Ivysaur
On other topics, I think for now, a good guideline for Evolution is that it costs 1C less. I'm also going to try and make a bit of a design skeleton tonight if other people are cool with that.
SAWA's the only J-Pop I listen to, it's not my favorite thing, but they're alright. Check out the soundtrack for The World Ends With You. If you omit the crap like "Give me all your love" then you have a rather amazing soundtrack/album. I mean come on! They have a quad-lingual rap on the soundtrack for a GAME.
I posted in the discussion thread, then realized I was the only person who posted there. Anyways, I think that every 5 families of pokes or so (arbitrary numbers ftw!) you guys should quickly top-down some other important things (Pokeballs, Special Pokemon events like Bulbasaur's evolution festival) I'm not saying you weren't going to, but I wanted to advocate it sooner than later. I'll be helping out with this project as much as I can from now on.
Well stuff doesn't seemed to have moved over here, but I'm still quite interested, I also want to point out now that you've got to get some other things going on here, specifically Sorceries/Instants, designing pokes is all well and good but a lot of Pokemon's lore isn't in the battles. I have some ideas (relevant to Bulbasaur) that I wouldn't mind spitting out if you all want to hear.
So I noticed the topic of "Humans are innocent" come up and that got me thinking. We've seen a few Mad Scientists but what if it goes further. What I'm suggesting is a bit of a "Planet of the Apes" in that one of the more "Barbaric" races is going to become the good/ordered guys. Specifically the Werewolves
Werewolves willingly containing themselves so as not to harm other villagers, or perhaps being imprisoned by normal humans. What I'm saying is that in the Reika blogs I've been seeing many instances of "Humans doing cruel thing to minority". What would happen if the Humans began to hunt and kill Werewolves and Vampires even more than they are right now and began to use more inhumane methods? (I'm suggesting that they'll start dipping into Red or Black) Meanwhile, the Werewolves become the victims and begin to play a more defensive game (Let's face it, a white spell that limits the ability to play spells would be a boon to Werewolves.)
In short:
Humans become crueler and dip into Red
Werewolves become more civilised and aware of who they are and dip into White.
As for Avacyn, I'm on the board of "Superdooper DFC". Although perhaps Dark Ascension will be a hero (Lilliana?) Becoming possessed by Griselbain "Ascending into Darkness".
Artifact
Whenever you cast a spell with (B/R) in its mana cost, target player sacrifices a creature.
That brutal enough for ya'll? Next up: Curiosity in Urza's Destiny
UB
Enchantment
Whenever you would take damage, prevent that damage and put a Charge Counter on Phyrexian Forcefield.
When Field of Prolonging leaves the battlefield, you take damage equal to the number of Charge Counters on Phyrexian Forcefield.
Up next: Pariah's Shield

Captures Resonance with the whole "Poison" subtyping of Ivysaur at a nice fair price, but not totally innovative. 3/5
