The neat thing too about Fnm slivers is, even if you do run Merica slivers, or Naya sllivers, you can use Legion's Initiative to keep um surviving boardwipes

I am apparently the only person who welcomes this new core set. But then again, I don't have my Wallet-goggles on. I am gonna have a lot of fun drafting this set.

aaaand 3 posts later another person says "awesome in commander".

Go the commander forum "Unreleased and New Card Discussion" and see how many edh players are excited about this card.

"Great in edh" is second only to "dies to removal" in the pantheon of overstated misconceptions when it comes to assessing a card.

Psst, I play EDH almost exclusively and yeah..he's gonna be just fine there. Not every card for the format has to be multiplayer oriented to be good for it. Hell, guess what, I play TNN in my deck and that's a card that is only really good against a single person. Garruk can blow up the biggest threats on the board often enough to be relevant. He starts at a solid amount of loyalty in a color pair that can definitely get him out early enough. His ultimate may be picking on a single opponent, but a smart EDH player is going to be doing that anyways.

You lost me at "I run TNN in EDH". I'm sorry, but I'm gonna have REAL trouble taking anything you say about the format seriously. There's a difference between "I play with a 100 Singleton deck against 1 or 2 people" and "I play tuned Commander decks in multiplayer".

I know a guy who runs Ætherling in his EDH. Let's just say he's not the guy I go to for card eval or deckbuilding advice.

Hue hue hue hue~ You play cards I wouldn't? Don't you know that EDH is the same ballbusting, competitive, *****show that standard and modern is? What are you doing on this forum? Clearly your brain is made of ants, and your mother should be horsewhipped everytime she gives you money to play for magic cards. You play cards of your choice in a casual format? YOU DON'T DESERVE TO PLAY THIS GAME.

    Gotcha covered.

I'm sure some decks can use this. But I don't expect it to make a ton of waves.
It is filtering, yes, but that isn't card advantage. This kinda goes back to the argument about....the oracle card....What was it called, the 1/3 that scrys 2 when it enters the battle field?
His +1 is an arguably worse scry 2. You have less control, but still some. you're fixing your draw, but not getting advantage.
I draw another connection to a draft I was watching the other day. An Avacyn restored draft. Look at Abundant Growth. For this argument, Ignore the "ETB draw a card" clause. Imagine this enchantment just made your land tap for any color. This gives you fixing, but not advantage. This jace will fix your draws, and that may be viewed as "passable" in standard formats with enough incentive, but usually, a card needs to bring advantage in order to be considerted good. Will it see play in EDH, absolutely. That format loves controllable mill like this.

On a different arguement, I have an honest question for any of you LIMITED players. How do you value this card?
    Take a 40 card deck.
-7 cards for the opening draw = 33 cards left in the deck.
Go to turn four (lets pretend there is no possible way in the deck to ramp). We're down to 29 cards on turn four with enough land.
To get to his ult, I believe it's minus seven. So go there. You're now down three draws and 3 mills. You're now at 23 cards in the deck. But this is a moot point because your graveyard is back.
But let's say he took some damage (poor jace). 2 damage, this time. A Goblin piker got in. He's still at 4! Which means, if this jace takes ANY damage in limited, you're going to have to send yourself below 20 cards to just HOPE for a second -3 or an ult. Is this worth it?

But of course it's worth it, you're fixing your draws. As long as you're getting your best spells, i's worth it.

Is it? Limited isn't like standard
Now, in limited, it's all about making the most of your spells. ALL of your spells. Most people don't run spells that won't do them any good. Let's say you +1 Jace. You reveal the looter and the 3/3 flier for 6. Not only do you have have to make a decision on which card to take, but you're actively losing yourself one of your good spells for the CHANCE of fixing for your draws, not even advantage. There seems like a big risk every time you +1 him for one in limited.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is a planeswalker that you can actually pass even if you're in blue. I am more than willing to admit to being wrong here. I look forward to hearing if anyone agrees with this. Also, I reserve the right to be Nath'd.

    Spoilers are on Monday.
And I don't think my game store is going to sanction events for this format. The draft portion seems like it would get a lot of "He/She's cheating!" if it's competitive. They'll probably just sell the packs to groups of eight, and we'll go by the standard Rare Draft type prize support. It's just supposed to be fun. But fun isn't allowed in competitive magic :/

If I were Wizards, this delay on showing the full spoiler would be because there was a secret card in the set, something like super secret tech that only shows up foil or some similar gimmick. Wouldn't that be the ultimate cap on the way Wizards has handled the marketing for this product?

Then again, if it were me, I would have made the card Dack Fayden (and watched the secondary market reel), so maybe you all are better off.

Plot twist: it IS Dack Fayden, even though they spoiled him themselves (will their cruelty ever know bounds?)

That said, I think you may be on to something... maybe... Wink

Ohmigod. Dack Faden stole the Conspiracy spoilers.

So, my buddy made a comment at our WNM this evening that I'd love to hear you guys and gals' opinion of:

"Hey, what if we get no more spoilers until the release day, and Wizards comes out and says: 'Hey, the biggest conspiracy is that there is NO CONSPIRACY. But here's the new UNset!'"

    Let's get the facts straight.
    Wizards made a mistake. Proof:
    https://twitter.com/MagicOnline/status/469224891766415361
This was last week. As we all know, MagicOnline is an official WOTC twitter. We got VM spoilers, and a few CNS spoilers, but not FULL CNS spoilers. Ilovesaprolings is right; bad miscommunication on Wizards side.
What made me post this was this quote from this post on DailyMTG.:
Ah, Conspiracy. It's a secret to everybody. Well, not anymore—I'm incredibly excited for you all to see the set. After months of teasing, hidden messages, and sly references, you will soon be able to see the the entire set at the Card Image Gallery.

Now, this was posted BEFORE midnight EST, which is usually when Wizards spoils craploads of stuff. I thought it meant that later, at midnight, that Wizards would spoil the set.
    I was wrong.
Thanks to the mod that edited the title. People were getting confused.

WHOA WHOA WHOA. Is THIS the full spoiler twitter comment that got this rumor started? Nowhere does it say we'd get the full spoiler, except in people's comments. We got the full vintage spoiler, and IN THAT, we saw more conspiracy stuff. There should never have been any confusion from what I can see.

Well, if the block has a snow mechanic, they could actually do snow duals. Snow would be right at the same time frame as return to Mirrodin and Return to Ravnica. It would crush shocks in to uselessness, though, if they actually did snow original duals. It would also be something they've never done in printing something better than the original dual lands since they'll likely have some kind of synergy with being snow. They could even justify it this time since snow duals would have a point other than screwing people that own original duals. :p

Of course, I'd like something silly and un-set like double sided flip cards, but I guess good lands is fine, too.

"Yaggrael Plains enters the battlefield tapped unless you control a nonland snow permanent."
