Well *looks sheepish* the deck i was going to throw him in was going to cap out at like cmc 3 for the creatures(im still trying to construct this deck so if anyone would like to send me a message about potential ideas i will give you a virtual hug) so i assumed i would have SOMETHING to play. But you get what i mean right? I actually thought about using him in a W/B Zombie deck(white for the removal/board sweeps) Cuz he makes my Phyrexian crusaders laugh.
My point was that it wasn't about good and evil, so Sorin being duty bound or saving the world doesn't make him White... Nicol Bolas saved the multiverse as a whole more time than Sorin and he isn't white.
It's WHY he did it though. Nicol was out of Pragmaticism. Sorin was trying to save the human race.
That logic could be used anywhere. Lets not kod ourselves thr b/w archetype was always there and if you think Sorin will make it competitive or playable in the meta then you are on drugs.
You want good cards, look to the commons, they build archetypes better than a 4 cmc for 3 planeswalker who poops out tokens before he gets hit for 4.
T1 Champion of the Parish
T2 Doomed Traveler and Gravecrawler
T3 Doomed Traveler and Diregraf Ghoul
T4 Sorin. I hope you weren't planning on getting through on the ground.
Because it's another stupid planeswalker. Most people probably didn't even glance at the other card before slamming "omg so good. He's Better than elspeth. I want a play set. $50 card for sure" into the quick reply box.
Dear everybody, Maybe instead of posting the same thing 40 people have said a whopping 1 page ago, you read some of the thread so we don't have a 9000 page thread that drowns out actual good thoughts and feed back with a billion "omg so good" posts.
Okay. Secrets of the Dead is crap cuz of enchant removal in standard. there you go.
You can't ban this card. It doesn't do four things in the best color and then win the game when it feels like it.
Sorin is a solid aggro-walker. They're usually not great, but we'll see. Nobody here is denying the power of his lifelinking tokens. It's the emblem that dulls the card.
Wrong. His emblem makes the card better. You can stack it twice in 3 turns if you have any reasonable amount of removal.
For everyone thinking Sorin is good, he isnt. Infact he is terrible.
A +1 that is negligible
A -2 that is laughable
A -6 that you will never obtain
Irrelevant to the meta, and is pitiful. Can be used in casual vamps and EDH.
Yay.
Creating a token a turn for 4 mana AT BEST, your opponent may feel pity om you and let him live.
Just...stop. Of COURSE he is irrelevant to the meta. Why? Cuz this card can friggin empower NEW archetypes. (like my W/B weenie deck which is my pet experiment right now.)
Yes they do the sphinx does something if it's killed on their turn draws 2 cards this does nothing it just dies to like 50 removal spells in the format.
And if you put this in Solar Flare you just Unburial it back out. :3
He has no evasion no abilities no protection and can be chump blocked all day long by Moorland Haunt tokens among other things need any more reasons?
1. If he had Evasion he would be broken. 2. You can GIVE him protection via mask or boots as previously stated in the thread. 3. Ghost Quarter/Bramblecrush/Acidic Slime...etc.
two words....SOLAR......FLARE! If you don't think it's at least 70% viable in that deck YOU should get your head examined. As for the Consecrated Sphinx, this isn't a replacement, merely kissing cousins. Think of him as a more aggressive Sphinx.
Why is this guy BAD exactly?*puts flamesuit on* His baseline playablity is variable, but not bad. It is not a "throw me in any deck cuz im splashable" but "build around me or let me assist a build around strategy" If they gave him trample OR hexproof(which they didn't so I'm guessing they thought of this because there will be some cards to help him in DKA) he would be overpowered.
As many people have stated, with some extra cards, R/U/G or B/U/G Neo-Dredge COULD happen. As for the trample argument, if you run R/U/G, traitorous blood your own Ghoultree, slap them for damage, and then fling it to them, i think it would suffice :3
Thx. I kinda have a soft spot for demons. When i saw this I immediately thought. "Hmm so THATS how i get more human sac's for the demon"

So Army of the Damned isn't a mythic?
My thoughts exactly. Sorry dude. Not every card printed is JTMS or Stoneforge.
