If you are tapping your mana dorks to get this out, it takes the bang out of it. Sure this guy himself may reasonably get up to 10/10 trample haste, which is awesome, but not quite big enough to kill your opponent alone. If you don't win when this drops, you lost the game probably, meaning you need some attackers to go with him. I can't wait to crush someone who passes me it in a draft, but it's no standard pet.
Reminds me of liege of the tangle. Dollar mythic with an insane effect.
Is Quicksilver Amulet still standard legal? Cuz if it is, i'm going to make one hell of a funny FNM deck.
I doubt Niv-Mizzet will be a Planeswalker. Though there has been speculation that he can leave the plane, I doubt it'd because he has a spark. If he could, I'm sure he developed a spell, because he's a genius.
Dack Fayden was created for the IDW series of comics. Because of this, I doubt that he will be given a card. Similarly, I doubt that Ral Zarek will be given a card because he was designed for DotP. The characters may be caught up in IP issues.
Actually if you go and read the books set in Ravnica, I believe they mention Niv being a planeswalker. If they didn't they he was doing some Venseresque tinkering with porting.
Indeed! Kill the Paladin and it comes back next turn. Kill the Titan and the Paladin can soulbind to another creature...
Hehe Evil. On the other hand, i see some snapcaster shennanigans with him. Okay i'm going to declare attacks. Flash in Snapcaster, Soulbind him, and vapor snag their guy. Their combat math just got trolled.
It's pretty awesome seeing legendary creatures with no title in their name.
It's cuz Griselbrand is the Chuck Norris of Demonkind. He needs no epithet. (only way he could be more awesome is if he was the Bruce Lee of demonkind, but there can be only one Bruce Lee ever.)
I like it flavourwise that he's mostly powerful by providing those who summon and deal with him with forbidden knowledge, but in a straight fight, Avacyn will curbstomp him.
I don't know if I'd want to use Reanimate on him, though... Pay 8 life to reanimate him, pay 7 for the cards. You're now just one red miracle away from getting burned to death.
Doesn't work like that, no part of undying is triggered when the creature enters the battlefield. It is triggered when the creature dies.
The key difference is that undying says "... enters with a +1/+1 counter" instead of something like "... when ~ enters the battlefield this way, put a +1/+1 counter on it"
As it stands, torper orb has no direct interaction with undying.
He's not talking about that. Torpor orb stops his exile effect from working because it is an ETB.
No, this card is not better than Elesh. Not even CLOSE. Not even in the same ballpark. Three words: immediate board impact. Keeping your dudes alive is nowhere near as important as getting rid of theirs. Elesh is THE gifts target in Modern. Avacyn won't even get a second look. As for Legacy, hell no. You couldn't pay me to run this overcosted, flashy waste of space, even (and perhaps especially) in reanimator. Obviously not a Standard card. This is an EDH card.
Edit: Here is what everyone wanted to see:
Avacyn, Angel of Hope - 2WW
Flying, lifelink, hexproof
4/4
Since you seem so convinced that the format won't change enough where you could actually play her all I can say is this. I can't wait to see the look on your face when someone drops her and proceeds to kill you.
As a green mage, I agree wholeheartedly with EVERYTHING you say, except I have a point on the plagues you might like. I think if they printed plagues in green, it shouldn't be so much a removal effect, as it is a transforming(not the keyword) or weakening effect. Black Plagues are designed to have an almost 100% mortality rate, while Green Plagues could be more about weakening the the prey to the point where the predator can kill it, i.e. natural viruses.(yes i know that some viruses like the Bubonic Plague are from nature and had/have an extremely high mortality rate)
I do believe i would like your cube. My for funsies decks are named The Hulk(v1.0, 1.1, 1.2 etc.) for a reason, Big, destructive, and green

I see what u did thar

It specifically says as long as you control them. Can't target your opponents stuff sorry :S

That's why he's amazing. People are sick of blue right now. Caw-Blade>Exarch Win>Infect Combo in Modern>U/W Human.....may i say more?
