There isn't really anything for you, sadly. If you don't know anyone in advance that you can schedule to play, you're basically fighting a bunch of people that want to win or want to test something. Best thing would be to buy whatever decent Pauper deck you think looks fun for 5 tix and head into the tournament practice room until you learn the terrible, incomprehensible user interface.

Kumano was in the Legendary Cube, was drafted on stream in the Streamer Challenge, and was bugged. Some bugs never get fixed. Welcome to MTGO.

To be fair they also removed the ability to pop out and resize the graveyard before reinstituting that functionality. So good for them for not quite breaking everything forever. Plus Leagues are totally back right guys?

Wait, so the only MOCS promo for the entirety of 2016 is Lightning Bolt? So all the promos for the monthly event will be Lightning Bolt, 12 months in a row? That promo is certain to hold its value!

Presumably they'll keep the high quality promos for the quarterly playoff events, since they're more special. We all know how good the track record is for the MTGO team picking desirable promo cards.

e: apparently the first playoff event will give out a promo Liliana of the Veil so good on them.

When you submit your deck, it should automatically save a copy to your "freeform" folder.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but all snow mana activations are bugged and require an extra snow mana to activate. Mouth of Ronom costs 4SS and Scrying Sheets costs 1SS to activate instead of 4S and 1S respectively. WotC has been aware of this for at least a month. The last time I reported the bug, they gave me an Origins draft pack, which is nice Smile

It would have been funnier if they gave you a Coldsnap draft pack, for use during Coldsnap Draft Flashback week when they finally fix that bug.

Seriously the price of Mishra's Bauble is absurd. Higher than Counterbalance? Come on now.

  • posted a message on What kind of memory usage do you guys see when using MTGO?
    Quote from msimsek »
I play MTGO in a Parallels virtual machine with Windows 10, two cores and 1536MB memory. My virtual Windows has no page files either. No problems whatsoever even after 5-6 hours of playing.

Memory uses almost never goes beyond 500MB. Here, see for yourself:

I have no idea why yours use 1,5GB. But probably because it is there.

I have 16GB in my computer and the program doesn't run smoothly. I had to turn off the animations because they were just kind of jittery. I'm going to laugh if I have too much RAM for MTGO to handle

I've been seeing very poor performance with MTGO for awhile now and I think memory usage may be the culprit. I see about 700mb usage. Is this normal?

That's on the low side. Mine usually runs at 1.1GB, going up to 1.5GB after a while. I try to restart regularly if I can stomach playing for more than an hour.

Wait, they literally gave out the same promo and not just made a seperate entity for it with the new frame?

Now confirmed that the player base that is left on Magic Online will be beta testing the new mulligan rule, because they failed to track any data on it at the pro tour. https://twitter.com/mtgaaron/status/627525133393997824

So assuming the MTGO devs take as long implementing this as they have for leagues and the commander tuck rule, they should have enough data sometime in 2019.

  • posted a message on Prize changes - Can MTGO Constructed survive them?
So they amended the changes. Pauper, Legacy and Vintage won't be 12 ticket events, they will be 6 tickets still - or 60 play points, but will only be three rounds. Prizes are:
    3 wins - 3 packs and 80 PP
    2 wins - 60 PP
    1 win - 20 PP

So for eight people (the minimum number to fire), three people get their entry back, one player gets nothing, three players combine for one entry, and the winner gets their entry back and wins 20 PP and three packs. So eight entries turn into five entries and 20 PP and three packs. Three entries are converted into 20 PP and three packs.

That is an astonishingly miserly rate and will basically kill those events. There isn't even any upside - at least if you're super good at Standard or Modern you can play forever and farm points for limited, but you have to win three straight in the eternal formats just to make any profit at all!

Wizards doesn't want us to play their game and is intentionally trying to chase as many people as possible out before shuttering MTGO. That's the only explanation. If they were just greedy there are far more profitable ways to fleece us of our money that we really want to give them than just making their events look like jokes. I want to buy into online Vintage, but I won't actually get to play it so Wizards doesn't get my money. It is total madness to do these changes unless the intention is for Magic Online to cease to exist.

Hold CTRL to avoid passing priority to your opponent. You might also need to have a stop set on whatever phase you're in if you're responding to something, but I'm not sure about that.

Used to be that the Limited Events chatroom was active, with people discussing deck-building strats, first pick order, etc. Lots of activity all hours of the night & day. Now it's dead as a doornail. Kind of sucks when you'd like an opinion on p1p2 or something.

Every chat room has been stone dead since v4 came out. The entire chat system is unpleasant, leading to most people not bothering to use it, leading to even more people being discouraged from using it since no one else is.

I mean the chat rooms in v3 were barely above twitch chat in quality, but at least you had somewhere to waste 10 minutes while waiting for the next round, or could talk to the other members of a daily event if something weird was going on. Fortunately the MTGO team has managed to take nearly all personal interaction away from MTGO.

How long do you think it'll take for them to implement the new mulligan rule assuming that it works out at the Pro Tour? I'll bet on 3 weeks after it is adopted in paper.

I do not enjoy playing MTGO on the v4 client as much as I enjoyed playing MTGO on the v3 client (before the whole MODO events crashing thing happened anyway.)
