Is anyone else watching the pro tour thinking "eldrazi looks like it could be fun to play, too bad I will never invest in it because of how likely a ban would be".
I didn't realize how much the latest ban changes affected me. I will probably never buy into modern now.
Sadly, the ban really did effect me, even if I wanted to play Eldrazi, I'd be very scared of a ban or nerf of some kind
Yeah, a friend of mine is wanting to buy into Eldrazi, and I hope he doesn't.
Saw a post where a guy said that the Eldrazi deck basically runs 8 painless Ancient Tombs. In that context, it sounds absurd, and it's probably something that doesn't belong in Modern. The Eldrazi deck basically has access to ramp that doesn't consume any slots in the deck. Some decks use fragile Birds/Hierarchs to ramp up, others need to dedicate slots to cards like Farseek, and the Eldrazi lists get that ramp for free in the form of Eye/Temple.
Before playing the deck I was thinking that Wall of Roots was looking like a really do-nothing card. Like Mcpatches said, the fact that it always gets two G for Chord of Calling is very strong, where that isn't always guaranteed with Lotus Cobra. And the 5-toughness makes it resilient to annoying red sweepers/removal, and it's a great blocker against aggressive ground-based decks like Zoo/Burn. If I can get a Burn player to finish off a Wall of Roots with a Lightning Bolt, I'm very happy.
And Courser of Kruphix feels absolutely essential to Kiki-Chord. It just smooths things out and slowly gets you wins by building incremental advantage, especially when it's letting you hit lands so you can fire off a big Chord when you need it. It's one of the cards that makes Kiki-Chord capable of winning grindy matches.
Hello, Chord people. I'm another former Twin player, lost at sea following recent bannings. Think I'll be joining the cause.
Went ahead and built this on MTGO. Main things I'm missing are Voice of Resurgence, another Fulminator Mage or two, and a Horizon Canopy. I'll slowly pick those up, but this is what I have for now.
I imagine my sideboard is a mess and I'm open to suggestions where that's concerned. Main deck is pretty stock, aside from aforementioned omissions, though I wanted to try out Domri Rade. Ran into U-Tron, Esper Control, and Grixis Delver during practice matches and that card was great there. Slowly built advantage and the initial +1 puts it out of Bolt/Helix range.
Knight of the Reliquary in place of Voice has been reasonable. Haven't used Knight to tutor up Gavony/Kessig/GQ, though it's been a decent enough beater. I'll probably look at replacing them with Voices when I can. Those elemental tokens are real.
You'd be better off running more Flooded Strand and dropping to a single Plains if you're that worried about Blood Moon. Running 1 Plains and the all four Mutavault just seems better.
What do you think about RG Tron match up? Does it really unbeatable after sideboarding if they side in Slaughter Games, all this Nature's Claims and Combust?
The tempo game should suffice, but you can usually bring in other win cons to go over hate. Batterskull might be the best option here. Though I think the best way to win that matchup is with Blood Moon and 1-2 power beats.
On another note, I'm looking for a bit of advice. I have every card that you'd would want for both UR Tempo Twin and Grixis Twin, except I don't have Zendikar fetches. With this in mind, which would you take to a larger tournament? UR Twin with Deltas/Strands, or Grixis Twin with Deltas/Mires?
Oh, I was trying to see what Lavamancer did alone, but your point is pretty good. Him + Bolt actually kills Rhinos, Tasigur and Goyfs. That's huge. My love for Todd Anderson's build is growing each day. So techy.
I think Delver is back to where Twin was pre-ban. When Cruise was legal there was very little incentive to run UR Twin, since Cruise Delver was such a consistent and powerful deck. Without Cruise, Twin is simply the better deck, as it's able to secure match wins better than Delver can. Delver already struggled against Rhino decks even when it had Treasure Cruise. Without it, I'm not sure if Delver can succeed at the highest levels.
Lavamancer/Bananas/Snap in the same deck sounds like some strain on the GY, but it certainly seems possible with fetches/Scours. I might want to try this for an upcoming SCG 5K, though I'd probably drop to two Tasigurs. But being able to get that much value out of the GY post-cruise seems really strong.
Eye of Ugin is fine though. We just have to find a way to beat it!

What is the correct way for me to proceed then?
Everyone keeps saying to use the Twin leftovers for URx, but they all lose to Tron?
I have a serious case of the feel-bads right now.
Is the correct play to move to a mediocre deck? Since if any deck wins often, for any reason, it's banned.

I've been wondering if it's worth running Grim Lavamancer in the UR shell with Thought Scour over Sleight of Hand/Peek. With Forked Bolt mostly gone and graveyards staying pretty full without Cruise/Dig, Lavamancer seems good.
Guess the answer is pretty clear now.
That's pretty interesting. Grim Lavamancer and Spreading Seas?

Also, is he running two Tectonic Edge?
