The typical lamia isn't snake-like on Theros, though. She's more goat-like and bestial, and has a humanoid face (though she does have a scaly body). This one is clearly a hybrid of lamia and snake, which is a story I really hope they explore at some point.
If there is any kind of legitimate problem, it is okay to respond to it, but our responses must be measured and reasonable. To pretend as though the problems men and women in our society face are equal, and thus our solutions to them must also be equal, is neither measured nor reasonable.
Perfectly said. I wish my comments were even half as eloquent and well-spoken as all of this (cropped to avoid huge quote, but I mean all of it)!
I'm just really confused by the idea that there are no sexy women in Magic anymore. Yes, there are quite a few shirtless men depicted in the art. Most of the time, they aren't really sexualized (only in very few cases like River Merfolk, Rakish Heir, Beastcaller Savant, and Enthralling Victor, and now the new Planeswalker). And many men DO walk around shirtless in real life; women don't.
Are fans really expecting Wizards of the Coast to print topless female artwork on a card game in 2019?
Nevermind the fact that this character most likely uses his good looks for manipulation and seduction. If they wanted to make a female character like that, they would. But that trope has been done to death whereas we rarely see a male character as the seducer. So if anything, fans should be happy and excited Wizards is doing something rarely done before.
I just think getting this upset over a shirtless twinkie planeswalker is a bit much. There are tons of male characters who are fully dressed and/or conventionally unattractive, and many women who wear revealing outfits and/or are super conventionally attractive. Don't let a piece of art make you feel so crappy about your own body. It's not worth it.
Pointing out how depicting the bodies of males as essentially perfect has had a negative impact on many males, on their self esteem and their self image is met with mockery and laughs proves that the community doesnt care about diversity and inclusion. They care about the current political agenda. Its obviously extremely hypocritical the huge difference how males and females are depicted in the art and game. But you know im just an idiot im sure this type of neglect hasnt lead many of our countries young men down paths of deep depression and violence towards others. Im just an incel right?
Good job at proving me right.
If Magic card art is making you depressed, then please seek out therapy. And I mean that with complete sincerity.
What kind of creature types do you think we'll see in the set? Human, Merfolk, and Faerie have all been confirmed (plus Construct if that's what the Gingerbread Man is; and Maro said there would be a "big bad wolf", so either wolf or werewolf), but I hope we also see a return of the Hag creature type. I'm not sure if they'll go for Hag or Human Wizard, but I'm hoping the former as they're such a fairy tale staple.
My friend who has the Lorwyn-Shadowmoor block novels sent me a page which she says is one of the final pages of the block's story. It alludes to Oona still being alive or possibly being able to return at some point? Does anyone have more information on that?
Garruk worked for a Gorgon on an unknown plane, not Visara on Otaria. Visara would probably have been long dead, at this point, although we don't know the lifespan of Dominarian Gorgons.
The woman's appearance is vaguely like that of Masked Gorgon, though, so who knows, maybe it was Dominaria after all. Not Visara, though.
Aren't all gorgons immortal (in the sense that they don't die naturally, not that they can't be killed)?
And that's definitely Masked Gorgon, right down to the mask and arm-weapon-thing.

Does the story say what happened to

If you truly believe men have had it worse than any other group of people then I implore you to do some research into civil rights.
There are far worse things in this world than seeing a sexy shirtless man with a six pack. But I've wasted enough time on the topic.

Do fans really consider Liliana, the Necromancer, Niambi, Faithful Healer, Bloodhall Priest, or Vivien Reid as not depicting attractive women on the art?

I would *kill* to get a Ludmilla, The Tunnel Viper card at some point down the road (if not in the next set, then in a Commander set).

I also love her art; she looks like a little bit plus size which is pretty rare for Magic.
