Looks fun, a lot of good synergies, but I think you made the common mistake of trying to push a theme too much. Cards like driver of the dead and soulcage fiend seem quite bad. 8 of the discard cats seem a little high too. I would adapt this deck so that you abuse wrath and sacrifice effects like mutilate and slum reaper. Cards like Varolz, the scar-striped, gravecrawler, and the previously mentioned geralf's messenger. Looks like it will be a lot of fun regardless of what path you take. good luck.

I'm not sure if mono-white control is feasible right now but these are a few suggestions that might help. Rest in Peace, Martial law, Boros Reckoner, Blind Obedience, Gideon, Champion of justice, Curse of Exhaustion. As you may have noticed, many of these are enchantments that help sphere of safety and create a stax deck which might be a good option.
    Good Luck on your Brew.

Why aren't a lot of people running pristine talisman. It is phenomenal for me. Ramp and lifegain for only three mana plus it's an artifact, what's not to love?

More results (playing a lot of MTGO today)

    4-2

    U/B zombies 0-2
I just wasn't able to stabilize early enough, never got a curse of death's hold, never got any lifegain sources until too late and was finished both games by a pair of blood artists.

    Naya Pod 2-1
Loss came against acidic slime + 2 restoration angels blowing up some crucial lands.
Didn't have much trouble. The deck crumples to BSZ consiedering all there mana dorks an low power creatures that can't be recurred like zombies. Zealous conscripts was never able to steal anything luckily.

    G/W humans 0-2
It got out of the gates really quickly with silverblade paladin and chapion of the parish. They had a lot of resilient guys like doomed traveler and loyal cathar so it was hard to stabilize. Once again no luck with getting a curse or lifegain online in time.

    Mono blue and U/W delver 2-0, 2-0
    More of the same.

    G/W aggro 2-0
crushed this deck got curse online both times

Thanks for the responses! Im going to repost my new list in the Trading Post official thread though.
Also, I didn't get to play this. My GLS surprisingly was out of Tezz so I switched to white for friday.

Ya I saw you post there, I guess we should switch over then.

So I REALLY wanted to play grixis tezz this friday but my LGS was out of them and no one had any for trade so a last minute decision to switch to white was in order.
This decision I think foiled my night because I went 2-4.
    Round 1 - Goblins
Game 1 It was a race and I couldn't get a post online for lifegain before he goblin grenaded for a win.
Game 2 I sided in creature control and he sided out creatures so I saw a turn 2 and turn 3 shrine that eventaully out ran my post and wurmcoil.

Round 2 - Mono green infect
Lifegain did me no good and he kept pumping out pump spells faster than I could deal with them both games.

    Round 3 - Grixis Control
Game 1 - We both played land/go for about 4 turns, I got post online and was swinging away with wurmcoils and he hit nicol bolas and proceeded to waste me away. I held him off for a bit being at 50+ life but bolas ultimate twice wiped my whole board with no recovery.
Game 2 - I sided in another oring in hopes that nicol bolas would be dead but he has jaces waiting for me and mill'd me out.
Round 4 - Mono black zombies (Without blood artist)
Game 1 went forever as I would wait to get everything online. He'd swing for 4 and I would just trading post for 4 life. Eventually Wurmcoil wins
Game 2 I thought he had me at 2 life with a messenger in play about to be back in play. I made a decent recovery with post life and came back with a swarm of wurm tokens.
Round 5 - Mono Black homebrew
Interesting deck - creatureless with sorin markov and sorins vengeance as win cons.
Game 1 I won the lifegain game and was able to eventually stick him with wurm tokens. He was around 48-49 life and I was around 36ish. I had 8 Tokens and 2 wurmcoils in play to win.
Game 2 he hits ramp early and Combos turn 4, nothing I could do.
Game 3 He hits ramp and combos turn 5. ew.
Round 6 my opponent drops so it was like a bye lol.

    This was my deck

I would like to change a lot of things - possibly the addition of porcelain legionnaire, another oring MD, etc...
vault skirge might be something to think of also.

Well of course you would lose to grixis Smile

Anyway, I am surprised you go beat by goblins. You have 10 lifegain (12 with wurmcoil) sources mainboard. I usually was able to stabilize early enough and then pull away with lifegain. Although I haven't gone against shrine which I see being a pain. Sorins vengeance decks are a pain. I am thinking about adding in a stensia bloodhall to deal with walkers, I also have two negates in my sb.

Sorry to hear you didn't get to play the deck you wanted.

Myr Battlesphere might not be a bad idea. wurmcoil is much better but in certain situations those tokens come in handy...

Yes they do. A play that isn't all that uncommon is I play it, sac it, exile it with mimic vat. Activate mimic vat and attack, tapping all eight tokens for lethal damage.

    @OFWGKTA
the mirror is pain, I have played mono black post twice recently. Going 1-2 and 2-1 actually one my toughest matchups.

    Recently played games.

    Mono black post 2-1

    Mono black post 1-2

    Mono red goblins 2-1

    Mono red goblins 2-1

    Mono blue delver 2-0

    Esper solar flare 2-0

5-1 overall , some tough games against the mirror, the goblins I just got unlucky in a few games, but not a very hard matchup.

Testing some more. Should I put Gut Shot in here for those G/W Humans? Also, from how my testing has gone, MBC has absolutely no chance against this. I just got tamiyo's ultimate off and she still had one loyalty counter on her. I preceded to do Desperate Ravings and Diabolic Tutor shenanigans. Grin

Tested again. Vs Werewolves. Gm 1: He had 22 life and a 2/2 wolf made by Huntmaster. I had 1 life and Karn with 7 loyalty counters and an Olivia Voldaren on the field. I was able to counter some Searing Spears with Negate and retrieve them with Mystic Retrieval. I had him in a lock because he would either have to play the two cards in his hand or I was going to remove one of them with Karn and I had retrieved a Negate for Searing Spears/Burn Spells. I was dropping Bolas next turn. The faithless Looting really help me get through my deck and discard useless lands for resources. The entire game, I had 4-5 cards in hand and he had 1-2.

Gm2: Tamiyo shenanigans. With the slew of kill spills and Olivia, I once again had the board locked with a 5/5 Olivia and Tamiyo with 7 counters on her, tapping down his Terror of Kruin Pass and using Pillar of Flame on Immerwolf and a Go for the Throat on a Ravager of the Fells the turn before he/she quit the game.

Cool looking deck. To address the gut shot question I suggest putting them in a sideboard if it is just for a certain matchup and not your main deck, considering gut shot is really bad against some decks. Not to mention gut shot is only generally used in decks that don't use red, considering you do I would suggest something like pillar of flame or brimstone volley.

Well I guess will post the first list.
This is my grixis list. feedback is appreciated.

Well here's the list it has been performing exceptionally well. I feel this deck is always ahead against most decks. It absolutely destroys delver in case anyone was wondering.
I have though about testing Tezzeret, but like the build how it is right now. Although there is still room for improvement.

    Matches:
Today I played a few matches although not in a tournament. But still did really well

RBW reanimator 2-0 spellbombs an removal for fatties.

U/B mill control 2-0 a weird homebrew, played some powerful spells but not a very great deck.

U/W Delver 2-0 My deck wrecks delver I was always a step ahead. Curse, removal, and lifegain, nihil spellbomb- good game.

U/B zombies 1-0 Opponent had to go after Game 1. I won with nihil spellbomb all four gravecrawlers
Would been even better matchup after sideboarding.

    Really like the post!
The deck has a lot of flavor. Serra angel really isn't that great compared to other cards that still cost almost nothing. Geist-honored monk fits the flavor and works, although there are many others. You seem to have a lack of creatures in what looks like wants to be an aggressive deck. I would drop all the burning oils (you have no lack of other removal) and replace them with other creatures. Maybe Stromkirk noble, he gets out of control fast and also looks classy although not the most budget option. Anyway fun looking deck, I could add a few other lesser changes but it seems solid enough, Good Luck!

Great list, I wasn't sure where to post/talk about mine thanks for making a thread.

My list runs more traditional grixis control but with a trading post core. It looks like yours without tezzeret (honestly I don't really want to invest in them with rotation coming soon). I agree with a four color, it seems very possible. I have the liberty of running a few colorless lands even in three colors so I think 4 colors is very viable. I notice you don't have any straight up spot removal like doomblade of gftt. Has been an issue considering that BSZ can only hit titans, etc, at eight+ mana? Although you do have tumble magnet. How has that worked I have been meaning to test it. Anyway nice looking brew.

  • posted a message on Predator Ooze + Stuffy Doll Deck?
Prey upon seems really solid in this deck. use it with doll to do damage or predator ooze to kill whatever.

Pyroclasm is not standard legal, although whipflare is almost identical.
Edit: never mind whipflare doesn't effect stuffy.

Have you considered dread fits your theme and has a nice shuffle effect. Leyline of sanctity is a solid card but seems sub par to some of the others in your deck.

Revenge of the hunted is a card that wrecked me the other day, in the match I played it was cast on dungrove elder. It destroyed almost all my creatures at times and was used as a finisher at others. Seems like it could fit your theme
