you arent supposed to talk about figtht club!!!!!! that like rule number 1!!!!
Welcome to modern and best of luck at tourny. Green suns zenith is banned Frown so dont bring those with you. I'm a big fan of dungrove decks but i havn't seen anything mono green place recently. As far as the modern meta is concerned i would look at the tier 1 decks when deciding on a SB. You should play test agfainst those decks as much as possible and find what you are weak to, and sb from there. I would make sure to SB against artifacts, urza tron (G/R), jund (.....), combo. I looked for a mono green modern deck but couldn't find anything worth looking at. That means your on your own as far as testing and additions. Just off the top of my head drop the GSZ's, tanglewurm, trackers. i see some swords there in your sig, you could try some swords. I would play birds of paradise over llanowar elves, they are better with swords or rancor.wolfir and slimes are a bit slow for modern. Are you opposed to a color splash? i think adding 4 verdant catacombs and maybe 2-3 overgrown tombs would give you access to a better SB and some maindeck options for example abrupt decay and deathrite shaman. you could also splash white if you prefer, white gives amazing SB options. If you do decide to splash for another color keep it very light so that you don't effect your dungroves. Not sure if this wall of text helped at all, but I tried. Just play somthing you enjoy with cards you like and reguardless of placing you should have a good time. Modern is a wide open format with lots of unexplored decks.

have you play tested this deck? it looks like you are moving from standard to modern just judging by your deck list. your lands are wacky i would start with 8 fetches and a max of 5 shock lands. if you want this to be competitive you should really switch to a tempo build. Unfortunatly Bant is and always will be an expensive deck. if you want to run competitive bant list you need to spend some $$$$$$. if this is for kitchen table its fine but you seem to have just thrown blue and some swords into a G/W midrange. I don't mean to be rude, but when you ask for an opinion it would help posters if you let them know you have a budget and are not looking to be competitive.

check out this bant thread it's an excellent resource.

well firstly I'm not sure if you have budget constraints but i would drop the pilgrims and add 4 noble hierarch in a swords deck you will most likely be attacking with a single creature so exhalted helps. I wouldn't run knight of the reliquary in modern, his strength comes from fetch lands and utility lands, modern is lacking in good utility lands to fetch with his ability most of the time he will be a 3 mana 4/4. You will get better resualts running rhox war monkin his place. your creature base lacks evasion with the exception of stalker. here's some creatures that are great sword carriers, Vendilion Clique giest of saint traft delver of secrets. Without stoneforge mystic you will be relying on drawing your swords, and with gitaxian probe as your only card draw it will be 50/50 to draw into the right sword. I would recomend Steel shapers gift most run it as a 5th sword,in my blade deck i run singleton swords with 3 steel shapers gift to ensure i get the right sword for the matchup game 1. I do side it out for game 2 and 3 after i know what I'm facing. You don't have any card advantage here other than gitaxian probe which isn't the best option for a modern deck. I would recomend serum visions or slieght of hand instead. I would also consider remand as it is a counter and cantrip in 1. all in all swords are best when paired with a tempo style deck, at least thats my opinion, as a legacy bant blade player. I would take a look under U/x tempo for some ideas, and even maybe check out some legacy blade decks. Best of luck!

warmongers chairiot and tree of redemption is a decent enough modern defender combo, definatly not tier 1. I've had some success with it just goofing around. swap your life total with the tree and swing for 20. you might start here and add other defender tricks.

You cold do green ramp with garruk (the one that untaps lands) and magus of the candelabra with lands that generate multiple mana to drop a huge eldrazi early. Although R/G tron is still really good, and not super expensive. I think the only expensive cards are Emerkul, Karn, and Grove of the burnwillows. the rest is peanuts, that you probobly already own.

So no one wants to put any thought into a top 16 list, and instead keep throwing around random fnm brews? Fantastic.

I think the G/B archetype is an extremly variable list, it's not like cawblade where all the list are the same minus 1-2 slots. You should look through all the recent major events decklists. you will find extremly variable G/B lists. I think that should be indicative of G/B being able to take on a multitude of roles depending on your build. I don't think you are ever gonna get a unified this is the list for G/B. It just dosn't always work like that. My G/B build changes on an weekly basis dependent upon meta shifts. For this deck to be succesful i think it has to be open to change and variability.

Edit: I can also tell you that I've had great success with underworld connections with arbor elf. This combo has won prettymuch all of my durdle matches for me, never run out of steam and average the same amount of CA as Sphinx's Revelations.

This is what I'm currently running for G/B. This is tuned to my meta where we have very little life gain control. My sideboard is setup to deal with Reanimator and control stratagies. I find that my best matchups are aggro based decks. I'm pretty sure that my current sideboard is (don't have it writen down anywhere)

This deck still needs alot of work. Here is a list of cards that could be good that i plan on testing. Deadly Allure, Undying Evil, Ambush viper, Strangleroot Giest, Gravecrawler, slitherhead, phyrexian Hydra, Corpsejack menace

Anyway in a small standard tournament between friends I played the above list.

    Vs. Rackdos aggro.
1 game 1 i outraced him. In game 2 i had to mull to 4 Frown lost that one. In game 3 i Got underworld connections online with an arbor elf, followed by a nighthawk with rancor bonded to silverheart FTW.

Vs. U/W control (this list was suboptimal in my opinion)
Game 1 i played threat after threat. I get 3 lotleths on the board keep regen mana up thank god he never hit a termanis. Game 2 i manage to set up underworld connections and arbor elf. I duress away his revelations, a gain massive card advantage with arbor connects. fight through 3 wrath effects and squeeze out a win with vraskas assasin tokens.

    Vs. G/W aggro
Game 1 i made good use of all my removal droped a nighthawk with a silverheart to force an early scoop. Game 2 he had to mulligan down to i think 4-5. I curve out perfectly out racing him.

    Vs. U/W Detain Homebrew
This was an intresting match. I feel like detain is more powerfull than its given credit for. Lev skyknight was the allstar of this match.
Game 1 2 earlygame lev skyknights slow me down enough for him to play the detain archon, followed by angel of serenity (exiling a silverheart lotleth and a nighthawk). after i manage to kill off both of those guys he drops a second archon and shows a second angel. He was still at 20 life i was at 8 Frown I scooped.
Game 2 I had trouble sideboarding for this matchup considering in a competitive environment you wouldn't see this deck ever. This one turned into an absolute grind fest. underworld connections won me this game. living through 4 wrath effects finishing with vraska assasin tokens.
Game 3 was a blowout. he had perfect top decks (as he told me post game) I just got annihilated by wraths spheres and angels.

4/1/0 not bad by my accounts. Bringing this to FNM friday and playing another local tournament tonight. I'll post changes after the tourny tonight, and see how it preforms on a larger scale.
    -D
Edit: first tournament Report sorry if it sucks I'll try to keep better notes for next time.

So im somewhat new to magic so sorry for ignorance. So im digging the idea of misthollow griffins. Im trying to put together a control deck of kinds with these two players keeping consistent board presence. Too bad mist of stagnation is out of format, I think it would play into the strat perfectly.

Is there anyway to dump specific cards into the grave from the library? Something like a a self-memoricide or a buried alive. Or are there any other cards that trigger when they are exiled? ive tried to find some through the gatherer but havent had much luck, I just there arent any besides the griffins.

I don't think there are any other cards you can play from exile. I have found the best way get cards in the yard are hedron crab with fetches and faithless looting/ magus of the bazar. have a high creature count and be willing to exile cards other than the griffin and you'll do fine.

I had alot of fun playing him in standard pre rotation. I was playing him in a U/R self mill shell with misthollow griffins, grim lavamancers, and molten-tail masticores. I've tried it with modern cards like magus of the bazzar and hedron crab, it wasnt very competitive but still very fun.

Maybe a way to give assasin token trample, to ensure the win, maybe rancor. I agree with path to exile over darkblast. Also treetop village might be a good addition, lives through wrath effects. I run a pretty similar list but BUG, i like vraska alot and i feel like she is often underestimated. Best of luck with the deck!

I've been testing this deck since prerelease I'm glad someone else has seen the hydra menace intercation ( i've been calling my deck the "menacing hydra") So far there are 2 builds of this that i have tested. the first is zombie hydra which your deck is closest to. For this i would add 4 gravecralwer and up your lotleth troll to 4. I would probobly drop vraska if your going zombies just to make space and she is hard to cast without reliable acceleration. Dregmangler here is also boss i would replace the scoripions with him. Jarrard's orders are good but probobly better as a 3 or 2 to make room for tragic slip. when your going all in on zombies hydra almost becomes a second win con if the game goes to long. Jarrad himself is also a decent inclusion i have won a few games by flinging an 18/18 hydra in response to removal. Also sign in blood might help if you find yourself top decking alot

The second version of this is a midrange build which centers on hydra as it's main wincon. This is what I'm currently testing. I don't have the full list with me here at work but I 'll throw out there what i know off the top of my head and post the full list tonight.
I'm running arbor elf and underworld connections as my draw engine, draw 2 cards per turn for 2 life. To offset the life loss I'm running 4 vampire night hawks along with 4 rancor. 4 hydra and 4 menace of course. deathrite shamans and dregmanglers as well as thragtusk and some removal in the form of tragic slip and abrupt decay. As i said before I'll post a full list tonight.

So i've 3-1 a small tourny with zombies and 4-0 an FNM with midrange. I found midrange to be better games 2 and 3, beacuse of junk rites and zombies making everyone run a decent grave hate package for the side board.

Thragtusk seems very strong here. Also i would have to second Restoration angel. also i think an earlygame ETB effect creature would also help this become stronger to do somthing before turn 4 with cloudshifts in hand. I cant seem to think of a good one off the top of my head as rotation has made me shift gears. you could try strangelroot geist blink the token of of him to keep him around longer. (i'm not sure if that works but it's off the top of my head) I think a 1 of silklash spider would be better than 4 kessig. ohhh and snap caster blinking him would let you reuse spells.

Yes, that is correct. The Hydra entering with counters counts as those counters being "placed" for the purpose of Corpsejack's ability.

Not quite. To double the counters on the Hydra, you'd place a number of counters equal to the number that's there. Corpsejack doubles how many counters you're placing, so you're actually tripling the number of counters.

cool thank you, I was confused becuse it dosn't say "put" or "place" on the hydra i just wanted to make sure it would trigger corpsejack.

    Hi all,
So i searched for an answer but i could only find the first part of my question.
Would hydra ETB with double counters, and the answer i found was yes.

Now heres the important part, At the begining of your upkeep when you "double the counters" on primordial hydra, would you then double them again if you have corpsejack menace on the board?
