Husk, should win. Husk is played 2 turns faster and gives a better pump. Plus it keeps a rare spot open for something that may turn out even better. This is such a dumb vote this week. I was looking forward to something good for black.
Chill to the Bone is very poor next to Rend Flesh. Why did it need to have the additional 1? Atleast you can fight over Rend Flesh being better or the very least equal to Terror
Deathmark is good but it isn't that good. The only advantage it has over Terror is it can hit black/artifact creatures that are also green or white. With Rav being the main set, almost only set, in play right now its a big deal. Deathmark should be in the core set as it is one of the only playable color hosers black has had in awhile. Slay/Execute IMO aren't even worth sideboard space.
I would love to see the day where White Knight/Silver Knight would be in the core set as color hosers but that would mean the other 4 colors would need main deck spells themselves. White has always had the best cards that attack colors there is nothing wrong with printing Deathmark.
I still don't understand why it was nerfed to hell. The original version was not legendary and you didn't have to remove a card from your hand. Now, the original was kinda broken if you got multiples.
However, they decided to nerf it not once, but twice. Just making it legendary would have made it unbroken, as you can never have a multiple. But adding the "RFG a card" line just made it unplayable, in my mind. Either one of those would have made it playable, but not nearly broken. But since they did both, I just don't see it being played.
As it was first worded it was more powerful than Mox Sapphire. As if you were playing second you would have playable mana before the person playing first. That would be an auto include in almost any deck. The RFG a card is not what destroyed the card, that alone would make it more powerful than Chrome Mox or Mox Diamond. Being legendary that nerfed it to death as you need something to do with the latter draws and gives the other person a free LD effect if they also run the card. But comes into play tapped isn't good enough for the card and would ruin the fun of playing it. The only other draw back would be loss of life but the speed that the card can provide it would be way too hard to balance the card that way. Although the card went from being named the new P10 to being considered a crap rare it had to be done. While there is nothing wrong with making type 1 cards I don't think that anything along the power of the P9 should be made.
I love Dragon Mage because of the insane draw advantages you can gain off of him. For fun once I made casual deck that gave him double strike with seismic assault, very fast game ender in multiplayer.
I prefer art B, the COP is reflecting something unlike the normal art you tend to see. Art A is just the same thing done from alpha.
I was hoping that time stop would make the core set when it was printed. Crucible is atleast a played card so I would vote for it. That and the second howling mine art.
I don't think the card is all that bad. You get a 2/2 body that swings for damage. When it blocks or is blocks, stack damage and sacrifice to take out 2 creatures. When they play a large creature that will deal more than half your life in damage it is no big deal to pay the life. It could see some game play if you play either mono-black or can work BBB in a dual color deck, not too hard right now honestly.
I see recover as a new flashback. Forecast is the new buyback.
Having this creature hit the table on turn 2 and swing on turn 3 is going to be a powerful play no matter how you turn in. This will be a great card to play with graft. Still I think it is a little strange to have that type of draw for green.
I haven't bought, or been given many Kamigawa boosters (72, from judge), but I've amassed quite a "collection" of Hisokas, not that I want to have it. If there would be a counterspell worse than this guy in Standard, it'd be Runeboggle.
I've gotten more use out of Runeboggle than that guy. In draft I ran 4 once and would end up countering atleast one spell with it and if I drew another one it would thin my deck. Note we only had 3 people in the draft so no one had a great deck.
As said it was printed as City of Brass I don't see how else they could print a painland that won't tap for colorless but be worth running unless it had an additional ability, say drawing cards or a sac effect.
The lightning snake is a nice card not over powered but may still see some play.
I had to read the wurm twice, first time I thought there was no way they would print a card that would be banned in all formats. But seeing how you must pay the 5GG on top of your search it is very mid grade.
