I didnt like 4 animate dead, just because I like being able to exhume then entomb in response to hate. Another thing I ran was a singleton lim-dul's vault. The reasoning behind this was purely on a testing level, and I wanted more instant speed fixing so out with a ponder. I dropped 1 for 1 in both cases. I didnt like the 3 submerge so put in 1 massacre as well.
I played against 3 burn/rdw decks. One was a straight Fire and Lightning precon... needless to say that was 3 free packs right there.
But then real decks started popping up. Played against bant, and it was a hard fought battle but tyrant kicked ass each time. And grisel managed to survive in both games to draw me at least 14. This used to be one of my feared matchups and now it seems 50/50 with a favor in our direction. I played maverick next and had very similar results. Then I had a mirror matchup and won that one.
overall after stepping away from reanimator to play other decks while it was hated it I really feel that its back on top right now. Ill be piloting this list at GP ATL
Ok now the new angel. She could be sideboard worthy... I'm really hoping that this set doesn't let the "graveyard" theme die with undying, flashback, and gd cage. Come on miracle!
I'm working on my report but I ended up 6-3 losing to zoo. It was a crush for sure. I then heard that he went on to play dredge with 0 bounce spells. So ugh. 1 more sphinx and I probably would have made day 2. Hands down biggest MVP of the day was perish. I crushed 2 maverick decks because of it.
personal tutor on paper looks like something we should play, but its just not good. I tried it for the chance I could get exhume/show and tell with it, but it didn't test well.
you can't afford to cut pithing needles from your SB guys. With how much burn is around, and how many people are running Fae Macabre, pithing needle is a champion.
are all creatures that I really like, and think could have a home in the deck. Its just trying to figure out what to take up or what matchups the shine brighter hasn't really been easy.
flayer to me is the big standout with undying. he could really help out vs decks running liliana, and the fact that he comes in with 4 to w/e you need to hit is pretty damn good. Undying causing him to hit for 5 is also nothing to scoff at. Should you then get another target online.. well wow. Feels very timmy and win more though.
Fairness, overpriced, and fun are different to every single person. Just proxy up and play if you want to have 'fun' but if you want to compete in legacy/vintage events it's not 'cheap' and it never will be. Unless they create 'from the vault 300 pages about cards over 50 dollars'
I also agree with picking your archetype then building that deck. Then after you have that deck, pick another deck, then build that deck. I started with UR delver, then built reanimator, no Im almost finished building maverick, and I've been doing a lot of trades to get to 40% UWblade.
I've been playing reanimator, I dont personally feel that RUG temp is a horrible matchup. I think its about even. Most combo players I know wont play combo in the meta with maveric/blade/rug because they want their combo to just win. I actually enjoy playing the control side of reanimators combo.
the only problem with NOTW is that its not free for all the creatures. emp, elesh, sphinx, etc. I guess if you ran terrastodon iona ItB and other 7 or bigger creatures it could be ok. but then you have to think about what to cut.

so for those of you considering perish, what are you replacing it for?
2 echoing
2 pithing needle
3 show and tell
2 thoughtseize
1 blasing
1 inkwell
1 terastodon
2 spell pierce
1 flusterstorm
thats currently my sideboard. Terastodon has been amazing vs bug decks or anyone planning on dropping liliana.
I do however like perish.. that is highly being considered for gp indy. but Im gonna have to test the hell out of it.
frost titan
grave titan
novablast wurm
