I have not bought anything since the pandemic hit but I really like the cards that I am seeing. However, I am not used to the differences between Set and Draft booster boxes. For background I have been playing MTG for years and pretty much only play commander with the exception of prerelease tournaments. For those of you who have opened this product what is the better buy for a player like myself? The difference in price between the 2 boxes is the Set box is $5 more.
I thought replenish would get more love. That card is so bonkers I don't think they will ever reprint it.
I love the idea of these threads but I do wish that lands were not part of it. We all know that Gaea's cradle (wasteland... anciencet tomb...)is awesome.
About your ally deck. It was my understanding that Panharmonicon will work with only the ally cards that do not have rally. That means that Kalastria Healer does not trigger the panharmonicon but Halimar Excavator would. If this is the case then how has Panharmonicon worked for you so far?
Mayael's Aria seems to be the weakest alt wincon in this deck after a ton of fish bowling. I would like to play at least one game with it in the deck. If I take out the Mayael stuff Knights of the Reliquary should go in,Hour of Promise for an extra land draw, and Beseech the Queen for that tutor effect.
I would like to fit in Realm Seekers and see how it works as well. It's a bit mana intensive but I think it could work.
Den Protector seems a bit weak at times and I never have drawn Magus of the Wheel ever. They are probably gonna be cut with Phyrexian Rebirth.
Ever want to win without doing any damage? Then this is the deck for you. The playgroup plays a little bit differently for commander than what we are supposed to do. We start out at 30 life and commander damage is not something special that counts as a wincon. We don't play any mass land destruction and we try to be creative with our decks and try to see what kind of combos we are able to pull off.
There are enough silly wincons out there where it seemed like a good idea, and it all began with the release of Fractured Identity, which made me bite the bullet and actually build the deck and use Maze's End too.
What you will not find in my deck are wincons based on a total amount of something. I would like to make a 2.0 wincon deck that uses these cards that are not included.
IF anything I seem pretty open to attacks so putting in cards like Propaganda to pillowfort my way through the matches seems like it may work. It is just hard to tell when I'm just goldfishing
Any ideas for fine tuning my deck? I would love to hear ideas.
Isn't Force like more expensive after reprints? After Modern Force has always been around 70-100 bucks and the ema version is more expensive than the alliances version.
True, but it doesn't help those like me who just have the Alliances version.
As someone who plays only commander I find that the biggest disservice comes from when they include cards that can be used in the eternal formats, which drives up the price or availability of one of the commander sets to be purchased because of 1 or 2 cards needed in another format. However, I feel like that if those non-commander players didn't buy the product too, then WOTC may not think that commander is a lucrative option and just not print it anymore.
All I do now is pre-order one of each commander set and be done with it. I learned my lesson long ago with the first commander sets and planeschase sets to just buy them anyways cause they are good for me no matter what.
The dragon deck. Pretty much only because it is dragons. I would like to think that it may be a gateway deck for many people; old players wanting to try the commander format as well as new players who just think dragons are cool and have wanted to try MTG but now have a reason.
My friends and I constructed a bad legends deck. This deck starts off with one of the original elder dragons from legends (or chronicles). about 90% of the creatures in the deck are just legendary creatures that are bad and would not be used as a commander in their own commander deck.
We add in various artifacts like Akroma's Memorial or equipment to make them stronger or better, as well as anything that could be deemed bad or over costed that we wouldn't normally use in our other commander decks. This was just one way that we thought we could use some cards that we probably wouldn't use ever. It's fun and stupid at the same time.
Just minor things I would suggest. Take out underground river for tainted isle. When I run black and have cabal coffers I like to run vesuva or thespian's stage to copy it or maybe another land that's out there. I know it is not as good as exsanguinate as far as it being a wincon but torment of hailfire seems like it may fit very well in the deck since it will either cause loss of life or create more creatures for you to steal in the graveyard. Altar of Dementia may be a viable sac outlet that will help mill opponents' cards and hopefully creatures into the graveyard.
seedborn muse and murkfiend liege are both excellent choices to continue pinging. Stuffy doll is another perfect example and combos off of acorn catapult very well.
Since you have a specific focus of four drops I am surprised you did not include uncage the menagerie as a way to tutor for your creatures. Tutoring 4 specific creatures for 6 mana can be very helpful in EDH and green tends to have enough acceleration that you can still cast a few of the creatures you tutored.
Everything you like to do in magic revolves around the same colors. Build a greenG, blackB, and/or redR deck and see what happens. A fellow player whom I was playing against got fed up with me one day and said (no this was not a fight nor was there yelling) that I use certain cards as a crutch and challenged me to try to use other elements of the game instead of the same X cards that I liked. It was the best advice because then I was trying out different things and learning how to use a lot more cards and game aspects better than just the same ones over and over.
I greatly appreciate your assistance. Thank you.

True, but it doesn't help those like me who just have the Alliances version.
Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth has dropped in price due to reprints, though the price keeps on fluctuating
Sensei's divining top, force of will, and snapcaster mage took big hits due to their reprints as well as Remand and Serum Visions

It is an excellent tribal anthem
