I agree with the previous posters. It's worth whatever a person wants to buy it for. 1000$ seems fair, considering the condition and all.

I always found myself drawn to Power that's a bit played rather and NM, if only for counterfeit issues. I mean, I can tell the real deal from the fake when I have the card in hand and all. But I don't know, a card that age that's absolutely perfect feels a bit weird. I passed on a Walk for that reason a few years ago. Just my 2 cents.

Is Ghostway's spike related to Modern? These spikes are hilarious...

This is artificial, Commander only. A card that is frowned upon in many Commander circles because it allows lots of infinite combos, and those are deemed unfun for most. Never buy this card at that price. It will go back down...

Scarecrone, on the other hand, is a fun, swiss-knife of a card. On the rise as well.

The issue of counterfeit is an interesting one.

I decided against picking a Recall at my LGS that was so perfect it felt almost fishy. I bought all my UNL pieces with a bit of play. Not only were they less expensive, but they also felt like actual MTG cards from that era. Wear doesn't necessarily mean legit, but that helps in my book.

I feel like I'm not only one thinking like that... I'm guessing as counterfeit becomes more and more present, cards with some wear might become more sought after than ungraded, NM power, as they might be seen more...legit? I don't really know.

At the present rate, non-blue fetches will definitely be sub-10$ for a long while. People will open these boxes en masse, and they will be printed to hell and back.

I'd ask for a partial refund on the Tabernacle... It's clearly not NM by SCG's standards.

People thinking the ZEN fetches will profit from the printing of ONS fetches - this isn't happening. The new printing relieves pressure off the ZEN fetches that the Modern format had created. There will be a natural drop all across the board on ZEN fetches, reprinted in the third set or not. It's already happening, and is only natural.

^-- Fair assessment. Some foreign P3K cards command a higher percentage of the English counterparts because they're played in competitive formats (Imperial Recruiter). EDH only cards tend to be 50-55% of their English counterpart.

For example, the following was a dealer trade I did not too long ago:

    5 Birthing Pods
    3 Ad Nauseam
    2 SFM
    5 Scalding Tarn

    for

    1 SP Mox ruby

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this trade, and I just don't get it. You could never get such a deal with a dealer locally, and would need to give nearly twice as much to get to the SP Ruby. If I do the math a bit, to a dealer that looks like 250$ worth of Tarns, 30$ worth of SFM, 10$ of Ad Nauseam and 30$ worth of Birthing Pods, which is roughly 320$.

The beat up Ruby being close to 600$ around here, you have got quite a stretch to cover to get there.

Any trade of excess Modern staples into power(!) looks to me like the deal of the century, so to speak.

"THEY PLAY IT IN MODERN???" "I'M NEVER TRADING IT, COULD BE 50 YEARS BEFORE WIZARDS REPRINTS IT".

This is the issue. Wizards not reprinting cards that people want to play. This drives fear over price hikes which leads to people not moving their cards.

To be fair they're reprinting pretty much anything re-printable now, and quite quickly at that. I could name only a few cards that they did not reprint yet but definitely will (Hierarch, Grove, Fetchlands...), but could name you a lot of cards that were high but got reprinted and tanked.

Interesting point, Rp1. I was thinking the exact same thing.

What's also interesting to me is the fact that many of the Lotuses in circulation are signed, making them quite recognizable. Some have a definite shuffle crease, a nipped corner, went through the washing machine, etc. When they have a combination of these distinguishing features, they're instantly recognizable. It's come to a point that when I see a new Lotus at my LGS (which does happen) or even one sold on eBay from Canada, I can often say: "This is definitely Jim Y's Lotus" or "Bob X is finally selling his Lotus..." You would never say that of any other card than power. "Look, this is Mary's set of Geist of Saint Traft!!" I don't think so.

Power is creeping up. I think the prices are adjusting these days. When you compare to the price Commander-only cards command, I'd say it's still affordable overall. The Lotus is getting very expensive, but you could still unload a bunch of blue duals and get several pieces of power, something you could never have done in the last 15 years.

Mutavault will be 10$ soon enough, Modern playable or not. Patience = more $ in your pocket.

Buy MP Unlimited black lotus @ $1700? Trying to acquire a set of power and I think I should buy it. Before you ask yes it's real/not fake.

I'd buy. It doesn't mean much, but SCG has bumped the price of NM ones to 4,000$. Anything sleeve playable under 2,000$ has been disappearing. Pretty sure it has room to grow and now is a good time to pick one up.
