I also feel Persecute will become relevant once people remembers it exists and the format matures a bit.
Think that about covers all the truly pervasive ones.
Affinity with bob would need to remove thoughtcasts, focus on quality creatures instead of free vanila 2/2's and will need to re-establish itself as a midrange-agro deck and stop trying to puke their hands out on turn two/three.
Did you see the old Extended lists? They had Dark Confidant. For a Reason.

The whole idea of Affinity has to change. Just because its in Modern doesn't mean it should look exactly like it did during mirrodin's time. (IE: Ravager+DOTV spam)
If you dont want build affinity and would rather port the type 2 Artifact aggro deck over, please, make a new thread, for a different deck.

Face it, artifact land's removal took its toll on the deck's speed and consistency. That being said, its time to rethink everything you used to know about affinity. Replacing artifact lands with normal ones and saying its the same is false. Simply slapping on tempered steel with Myr Enforcer/Frogmite isn't exactly the best way to go either.
So stop trying. See above.

Its time to stop looking at a super-fast build because with artifact lands gone, its simply impossible. Time to go midrange, add control or disruption with centarch or Phyrexian Revoker/Tidehollow Sculler, or whatever.
Again, an entirely different deck.

With vial's allowance into the format, Vial at 1 can get you an EOT: Vedalken Certarch, and Vial at 2 can play with ethersworn canonist, Phyrexian Revoker or Tidehollow Sculler, vialing-in-response to an opponents action with these creatures can become a crutch to them. Follow that up with a win-condition (Maybe tezzeret 2.0 or something, I don't know.) and other disablers like tumble magnet or other disruptive creatures like sower of temptation or vedalken shackles and you might have some sort of deck.
Again, a type 2 deck. But Vial is awesome.

I do NOT claim this is the way to go with the deck. I'm simply throwing out ideas into the air. Please don't crucify me for random thoughts of a decklist.
Oops.

I have no real idea on how to port affinity over smoothly into modern without changing how it plays, and I have no immediate urge to make an affinity in modern. I'm keeping my list legacy. I just wanted to share my views and read up/update myself on other branches of affinity and try to help the best I can.
I simply love the deck, and I'm deeply interested in where it can go.
Affinity, in nearly every incarnation is a suicidal fast aggro deck. Drop your hand, turn them sideways, sac them to Ravager or Disciple or Shrapnel Blast. Every. Affinity. Deck. Does. This. It is the established archetype of Affinity. Anyone who thinks otherwise doesn't understand what Affinity is. It is the deck that has no midgame plan whatsoever. Win quick or GTFO. That is why old lists ran both Dark Confidant and Thoughtcast. That is why its okay to use City of Brass + Shock Creatures. (Skirge and Legionnaire) We aren't Zoo, our creatures aren't meant to last.
I'm just pointing out that ***/Damnation are strictly better cards than Day of Judgment except in extreme magical christmasland corner scenarios in a vacuum. I realize that some players trying to get into modern may have never seen a *** (as blasphemous as it sounds) and may not even know that a black version (Damnation) exists.
People who haven't hear of *** shouldnt be playing modern imo.
Please keep this discussion on the cards. Calling players out for thier card choices isn't tolerated.
Bob would make Thoughtcast and frogmite really painful.
Would it really be worth the -4 life for a 2/2 vanilla creature on later turns?
You also run vault skirge (which, lets face it, is a shock to your face) and City of Brass which is further lifeloss.
Vault Skirge with plating seems to be your only way of regaining life too.
I agree.

Basically any of the 3drops have to compete with dark confidant for a spot. and None of them really stand up to his power.
Possibly considering Atog for some more bang.
