First scry, then bloodthirst, now exalted.
I think exalted is a little more stable and simple to understand than bloodthirst.
New players showing up at prerelease's and drafts were often blown out by the 5th turn due to the overpowering pressure the red black bloodthirsty deck could muster.
With exalted instead, it keeps power coming in the front lines, while simultaneously simplifying combat. Perfect for the core set. and as they seem to be doing, stretching the flavor of the mechanic beyond its initial printing by moving it into black is superb.
Broken? really? I wouldnt say the mage is broken, its just good. A lot has to go right to get tremendous value out of it; most of the time its a solid 2-for-1. Very good, obviously tournament quality, but hardly broken.
If you only have 1 in your deck and you activate it. Does it just mill you entirely? It does not have the reshuffle clause if you fail to find another. There are some serious combos to be had when you mill your entire deck....hermit druid 2.0?
It first shuffles itself into the deck,
then mills until you find it.
It is statistically possible with 1 to mill everything else
before you find it on the bottom
Thing is, you wouldn't want Pod in that kind of a deck. pod wants 1-2 of's and they don't want to see their toolbox get milled to the yard. you have some solid ideas, but Pod just doesn't need to be in this deck.
Pod would be the speedy way of getting the phantasm on the board quicker,
thats the only thing i see right now
due to the lack of good reanimation post rotation
UG birthing pod,
This, Skaab ruinator, wreath of geists
elixir and trinket mage are a just in case combo,
wreath of geists would be the win condition if unanswered,
on either skaaby or the phantasm.
Possibly include auramancer to make sure you get the wreath if you mill it
It just set in for me that this change makes it possible for me
to start playing competitively in my town with the hopes of goin pro,
which is Spectacular, as before this announcement, i was a dedicated casual guy.
This system is awesome and encourages both pros to go local, and locals to go pro.
This is exactly one of the things they hope to improve with this change. This encourages good players to play FNMs, therefore, making them higher quality of play.
True, but the most important thing i advocate and steer new players towards is release events, because of the even playing field.
In that setting the player is the most important factor aside from luck, and building a deck in half an hour from random parts is in my opinion, more challenging and showing of skill. Rather than who spent the most money to recreate a deck from the protour, or some other netdeck.
FNMs are enjoyable, and clearly a new focal point of importance for this system, which is good and long overdue to make them relevant. I would hope to enjoy them as much as I have enjoyed other well supported events, namely the big prereleases, and this does provide some incentive for me to actually play my standard decks in areas other than casual and on game day.
I didnt keep track or care about the previous system,
but was aware of the weird things it meant for fantastic players.
I like the idea of levels, and doing well to be a level X guy.
The only thing I don't like is how low Pre-releases and launch parties are,
as most of them that i go to are more competitive than fnm's
I love this guy, Feels great and big as you cast him,
he's motionless, not moving, better send a little guy his way,
he rips the head off the soldier you sent him,
and using the sustanence from his flesh attacks
swinging that chained hook at any dude that must die.
but all that work is tiring, and grimgrin doesnt have a good metabolism,
in fact, he doesnt have one at all
Into the maw of hell is great!
swanny kicks butt, and im glad there was a way to put his
hack and slash style to work amongst the more civilized and calm romantic art.
Skaab ruinator is so gnarly,
limited and draft insta winner.
Morkrut banshee does what skinrender does,
but bigger

this adds so much spikey tech to the mix, i love it
ow boy, oh boy, this is gonna hurt
Nvm, read the rules FAQ on living end.
Not broken, yet
Uh, free Living end on turn 2
BROKEN

For lolz you can also redirect your opponents curse,
so they curse themselves.
"i want you to hit me as hard as you can"
Alchemist is so nasty good, zombies are right now my fave tribe.
Humans are seeming very utilitarian,
and have very bland tribal cards in comparison to other stuff we've seen
Skeletal grimace will win limited games,
is faster and better than trollhide.
Spider spawning, maybe arachnus web can be playable?
