And as for your order, I'm planning a similar thing soon except I don't have a job so I don't have all the money yet.
Thanks. And yeah, I've had to work ALOT to get the money to pay for this stuff... I did 42 hrs last week. x_x -

Admittedly I'm listening to Fall Out Boy at the moment - I'm seeing them live on the 10th of March, and their new album looks stupendous.
I'm also listening to Death Cab For Cutie. I bought three of their albums, and I really enjoy their music. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
You guys sure play a lot of MTGO! I wish I could afford it, but between beer and paper Magic it doesn't leave much money. I'm going to be taking a pay cut soon too - I'm going back to university next year (hopefully, if my proposal is accepted!) to do my Honours year.
Booked my flights for Grand Prix Kuala Lumpur today. I am beyond excited, it will be my first international GP and my first (of three, maybe even more!) GPs in 2014. I won a GPT for it over the weekend and picked up two byes, so it should be a lot of fun! I really love Theros sealed, too, so that will just make it even more enjoyable.
Anyway, do you guys mind if I hang around here? I play a fair bit of limited and I love playing sealed. I'm mainly a Legacy player but I've been trying to pick up packs/boxes to draft older sets - I drafted OTJ a few weeks ago, that was a lot of fun.
I'd love to be able to post here regularly, I always enjoy reading your thread! (Not in a creepy way... it's just my job!)
Daggs: He thought I was going to go for Leyline of the Void.
Getting pretty excited for the 2014 GP season, I'm looking at playing in four (!) if I can;
Melbourne (Standard)
Minneapolis (Modern) (I plan on being in the States when this is on, so hopefully it'll line up!)
Sydney (Magic 2015 Sealed)
Stockholm (Standard) (If I can afford it!)
I'd LOVE to go back to Stockholm, and I know my way around, so two weeks in Scandinavia sounds pretty good!
I'm playing a Sealed PTQ this weekend, wish me luck!
On Day 1 I started shaky, losing round 1 to Storm. Round 2 I beat Storm, round 3 I beat Merfolk. I was feeling pretty good until I lost of Jund in round 4 (Affinity can't beat turn 2 Stony Silence) and that put me on the bubble. Beat a weird (but awesome) Jund-coloured Landfall deck with Bloodghasts and Vengevines in round 5, then stomped U-Tron in round 6. 4-2 going into round 7, I find myself up against American Control, my absolute worst WORST matchup. He crushes me game one, game two is long and grindy as I resolve a Blood Moon and he can't deal with it. Game three goes to time, and is a draw - After a tense five minutes I concede to him because I wanted to leave and get drunk and I wanted to play vintage the next day. He ended up making day 2, and coming 35th overall.
In the vintage event, playing Dark Times, I crush Reanimator round 1, lose to Oath Tendrils round 2, beat Dredge pretty easily round 3 (4 Leyline of the Void maindeck is pretty good), then juuust lose to Tinker round 4, and the top 8 is already decided pretty much (4 people on 10 points, 4 people on 9 points, oh well). I play round 5 and crush another reanimator deck. I think my favourite play against him was
Him: Badlands, pass turn.
Me: Draw (my hand is now Swamp, Bob, Bob, Liliana, Dark Rit, Dark Rit, Demonic Consultation - I mulled to 6), Swamp, Dark Rit, Dark Rit, Demonic Consultation.
Him: In response, Entomb Griselbrand.
Me: Naming Faerie Macabre.
I hit it after only about four or five exiles, wipe his graveyard, then proceed to drop two Bobs on turn 1 and pass.
All in all a super fun weekend.
I have been playing Bant for almost 12 months now, to moderate success (a lot of 2-2 finishes, a few 3-1s and one 4-0). Recently, I added a splash of black and it's certainly different but I'm not sure how much I like it:
4 Wasteland
2 Flooded Strand
2 Misty Rainforest
2 Verdant Catacombs
2 Tropical Island
1 Savannah
1 Tundra
1 Bayou
1 Underground Sea
1 Karakas
1 Maze of Ith
1 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
1 Forest
4 Noble Hierarch
3 Deathrite Shaman
3 Stoneforge Mystic
2 Knight of the Reliquary
2 Snapcaster Mage
1 Scavenging Ooze
1 Vendilion Clique
1 Sylvan Safekeeper
3 Abrupt Decay
3 Thoughtseize
3 Green Sun's Zenith
2 Swords to Plowshares
2 Jace, The Mind Sculptor
1 Batterskull
1 Umezawa's Jitte
3 Force of Will
3 Spell Pierce
2 Swords to Plowshares
1 Qasali Pridemage
1 Sword of Fire and Ice
2 Ethersworn Canonist
1 Supreme Verdict
2 Rest in Peace
What I'm thinking now is to cut back black and re-add the counterspells.
4 Flooded Strand

Does that seem like a much more solid starting point to anyone? I think, in terms of a mostly unknown meta (that I'm sure is just going to be pretty much 80% delver, 20% show and tell) it seems pretty good. Which list would you guys prefer?
Thanks in advance!
No, I went the degenerate route and I've kept up with Affinity. Haven't gone worse than 3-1 or 3-2 in the last four events I've played, so it seems like a solid choice.
In two weeks! I came 9th in a trial for it today
I think I want to try Assault Loam next, to exhaust all of my non-Affinity options before the GP because god damn that deck is boring.
Thanks! We have so many GPTs at the moment because they are for the Modern GP in the city I live in this October. The side events at that are going to be amazing - two Legacy events, Australian Highlander (which is 60-card singleton vintage with a points system), and a Vintage event!
Yeah Dux, I wanna hear what ended up happening.
I 4-0'd Legacy this week, pretty happy about that. I hadn't done that since September or October last year. I finally got the Bant shell working!
I've been playing a fair bit of Legacy and Modern - I still have no idea what I want to play at the Modern GP in my city in October, but I have a few ideas. I really enjoy Bant Gifts, and I think a GB Greater Good deck would be super fun as well.
I have finally picked up duals for Legacy - I own two Tropical Island, two Savannah, and a Tundra. I think I need another Tundra and I definitely need another Misty Rainforest, but the cost of the newer fetches is getting pretty insane here. I think I need to start putting away $100 a fortnight so in a few months I can just get everything I need.
I have an exhibition coming up in September at a gallery in my city - pretty exciting, as I haven't had a big show all year. I should be showing about 5-10 new and recent works so I'll have to make sure I get some good pics for y'all.
I've also been applying for a lot of artist residencies, but I wish I had the money to actually pull one of those off right now!
Hope you get your computer sorted soon, Daggs. Sounds incredibly frustrating!
sXe, do it man! Arizona looks amazing and what do you have to lose?
