I sold the Beta Black Lotus for $450 a couple of years later. No regrets as I made money on the deal. I did sell the Beta Tropical Island for $35 to a friend, though. *Ow*
I still have most of the other beta cards, though. I keep them around for sentimental reasons.
I do agree that putting the second 's' is really ugly and sounds bad too, but what can you do? Their proofreaders insist on doing it. Rakdos's Return is another recent example.
I was just reviewing The Elements of Style and it says to always use the apostrophe followed by an 's' with most proper nouns. The exceptions are ancient names like Moses or Isis. I suppose Rakdos should fall into that category.
From what I read, Names like Jesus, Moses or Xerxes are considered awkward if they are spelled with s's.
I'll give Wizards a pass on the spelling, I guess.
Are you talking about the usage of the apostrophe in the flavor text?
The alpha card is Mons's Goblin Raiders, but this a question more of style rather than grammar or spelling.
Mons's Globlin Raiders is the correct answer.
Must be getting old. I was always taught that Chris's book was incorrect and Chris' book was correct. After doing some checking into things, apparently s's is now becoming acceptable.
English is changing and adapting, I guess.
Anyway, I like the card in Gruul limited and the actual flavour text is funny.
3G
Creature - Beast
Trample
Each creature you control with a +1/+1 counter has trample.
4/3
Looks more promising than it's blue counterpart because it's more aggressively costed. Works well with cards like Strangleroot Geist and Unleashed creatures as well. Don't know if it ever will see play, but I do like it. Any opinions?
It's actually a Rhino and not a Beast. Go Rhinos!
I think it's an alright card. Should be fun in limited with Gruul and bloodrush (it can be 7/5 trample when you discard Slaughterhorn) and it works fairly well in a Simic deck as well.
Don't think it's good enough for Constructed but it'd be fun with Gavony Township.
Well, I for one am happy to see Frenzied Tilling get reprinted. It is a reprint from Invasion. I used to play a casual :symr:/:symg: land destruction deck back in the day so I have fond memories of this card.
It is a little bit of ramp for Gruul and you can 2 for 1 your opponent if they play with a land aura.
I wonder if there is enough land destruction in :symr:/:symg: to make a go of it? You've got Frenzied Tilling, Acidic Slime, Bramblecrush for starters. Probably not, as WotC wants to nerf land destruction nowadays.

Kicking the crap out of things is what he does best.
Should be fun in Gruul limited.
As great as the flavour has been in the set, I wonder why Wizards doesn't employ spellcheckers? Pretty shoddy if you ask me.
Your mission is to find the spelling mistake. As a bonus, tell me which other Red Alpha card had the same mistake.
Vorthos should be very happy.
One that really stood out for me is Massive Raid. I absolutely love the artwork.
Also good on Pyreheart Wolf.
Great flavour and artwork.
Strong in Limited and could find a home in constructed in the right deck.
It's a card that I'll keep in the back of my mind when any new set comes out, anyway.
Great flavour text and artwork. I love this card too.
Fblthp needs to become a Legendary Creature.
Is there going to be a 3rd unset?
Slap this on a 1/1 Saproling and it'll take down a Loxodon Smiter.
Or...Wasteland Viper. Hee hee. 4 points of First Striking Deathtouch goodness.
Pretty good in limited, anyway.
I do agree that it is out of flavour for Red. I thought it was odd too.

Limited should be a lot of fun, IMO.
There are a lot of fun casual/EDH cards.
Great flavour and the artwork is outstanding, on the whole.
Pretty pleased with the set.
Certainly could be fun with Fathom Mage.

Kidding of course. How far we've come. Hee hee.
Solid card and extra points for being a Minotaur. I'll have to dig out my
Didgeridoos
Granted it is a bit conditional (you having a creature and a decent sized one) but I'll take what I can get in Green.
Great flavour with Gruul as well.
